@TimelessJubilee Majority of the sales on the Switch are physical compared to their digital counterparts. The fact their share holders are concerned about KCs and the rumors that Nintendo was blindsided by all the hate towards them kinda tells me it will be a while before they go down the KC route. KCs are also at clearance at Target for $15. That hasn't even happened to XBOX physicals that quick. On top of that Persona 3 Reload looks like it completely bombed in sales and its a Key-Card. I heard that it apparently runs like garbage but, most people (normies) don't look at reviews.
Don't get me wrong. I'm happy this game is finally coming to the Switch. I will buy it Day 1. I just want to know. Where is Trails of Cold Steel I and II Xseed?
@johnedwin And the compromises you barely notice unless you go out of your way to find them. Most gamers won't notice it. From Software/Bamco could do the same especially with how much they made off the game. Cyberpunk was hated in the beginning too. Sony issued refunds. Then CDPR did a 180 and made it a better game. Now its the best selling Switch 2 3rd party game.
@johnedwin Cyberpunk is between 90GB-100GB. Elden Ring plus the DLC is around 80GB. The big question is..will they optimize it and put it on a cartridge? Chances are small..
@progx Already did. On x/twitter and email. Did the same for Square Enix. The only way they learn if Key-Cards don't sell. Before anyone start saying they will stop supporting physical all together on Switch 2. They know people don't like it. Look at the comments on every post on social media. Even Nintendo investors know about the issue.
@Hee-ho-master It just seems like most 3rd parties games will sell poorly on the Switch 2. I will end up saving a lot of money if almost every game is a Key-Card. I have almost 700 Switch 1 physical games and only 2 Switch 2 games. (Rune Factory, and Cyberpunk.) I don't know what Nintendo was smoking with this Key-Card stuff. I was holding off buying newer 3rd party games like Persona 3 Reload/Metaphor and Dragon Ball Sparking Zero for a Switch 2 port but if the games ends up being a Key Card I'll just buy it for $10-$20 on my Series X/PS5 used.
@DTFaux Same. I hope FF7 Remake is on cartridge too. This Key-Card stuff has ruined almost all hype for this console for me. Every new game that's outside of Nintendo that gets announced i wonder if its a Key-Card. I'm lucky enough I own other consoles so I can easily get these games on other consoles for A LOT CHEAPER. I just enjoy the form factor of the Switch 1/2.
@beltmenot People don't want to waste GBs of their internal memory. The entire point of the Switch is to pick up and play. Bamco will probably charge a premium price too for this game. 3rd party games on Switch 2 are already doing poorly with the Key Card crap and charging a high price tag for years old ports. Memory cards are also expensive plus its hard to find a 1TB+ currently. I have Elden Ring already and will double dip if its a real cartridge.
@johnedwin Cyberpunk and its DLC was slightly bigger and they managed to put it on the cartridge. Elden Ring also sold way better then Cyberpunk. Now if Bamco would be willing to do this is another question. I put my money on a Key-Card but I hope I'm wrong.
Please no Key-Card. Please no Key-Card. Please no Key-Card. Day 1 purchase if its all on cartridge. No problem double dipping. If its a Key-Card I'm skipping it completely.
@Eririichi That's exactly how I think. Why would I buy a Key Card? If I really want to play the game I'll get it on steam when its deeply discounted. I have a huge backlog. I can wait.... Companies need to realize we don't need them, they need us.
I would have bought Bravely Default and Hogwarts Legacy if they were a real physical. I only bought Cyberpunk and Rune Factory. Key Cards are garbage and I will never buy them.
@Truegamer79 I agree. I'm annoyed by these "Key-Cards." I would have bought Hogwarts Legacy and Bravely Default day one if it was a real physical release. Now I'm not buying it at all. I have a huge backlog that will entertain me for the rest of my life so skipping these games wont effect me. Hopefully people vote with their wallet and these companies will do a 180.
@Truegamer79 No confirmation yet. I wouldn't be surprised if it is on one. I've been holding out hope but if it ends up being a Key-Card I'll just get the game on PS5 or the Series X when it gets announced for it for $20. Nintendo is shooting themselves in the foot. Gamers will end up buying these games on other platforms for a lot less then they have it on their system.
@Overzeal There has been no confirmation if the game will be a Key-Card. Same with games like Elden Ring. There is a high chance that FF7R will be on one tho.
