@StephenYap3 @Sora181 not hate at all from me, apologies if that’s the takeaway. Maybe, just not my cup of tea is a gentler way of putting it? So stoked you both enjoyed it! Please don’t let my lack of enjoyment take away from yours at all ☺️
Also, just gonna put this out there ~ applying a numerical figure to a creative work is an inherently flawed way of measuring value, as value as a construct is inherently subjective and contextual, influenced by your ontology, epistemology (beliefs, values, worldview), experience and interests (my PhD comes in handy in weird places, haha!).
Sure, numbers can capture consensus, sentiment etc but I can emphatically say that numbers cannot measure 'worth' in a qualitative sense, and we human beans experience the world qualitatively. Some food for thought ☺️
(eg: I've enjoyed many games that scored a bunch of low scores, i'm sure we all have, made me re-think what I take away from reading reviews!)
@Synplex @Uncle_Franklin hey fellow gamers! not sure if you're talking about eshop or physical retail sales, but Nintendo published titles very rarely have eshop sales, which might be relevant to your voucher convo. For instance, Star Allies has only ever been discounted twice since release in Australia (where I am), and only a 3 or 4 times in the US and UK (https://www.dekudeals.com/items/kirby-star-allies for reference, a great site btw!) ~ hope that helps with saving some money!
And damn, after looking at different regions I realised we only have the eshop for digital purchases in Aus, other regions have so many options 😅
@Bobb totally! I've never expected a Kirby game to give me a huge challenge, but found Star Allies was designed in such a way that the mechanics strip out almost all of the challenge 😢. It was a lovely looking game with some novel ideas and beautiful environments, just fell short of what I was after... that special Kirby magic, ya know? ☺️
@Uncle_Franklin all fair points, although I’d say that Star Allies is… a bit rubbish (pains me as a Kirby lover). Btw, there’s a demo of this remake up on eshop, maybe give it a try? Just installed it myself and played for an hour, and I’m enjoying it so far ☺️
@KateGray if you're after something with a meaty story and are a fan of JRPG's then you can't go past Dragon Quest XI and Xenoblade (1 or 2... 1 is a great and 2 is... very anime?). As for chilled casual stuff I second the above comment on Captain Toad! Paper Mario Origami King is also another fun one with a fabulous story - hope you find something that you enjoy x
I'm currently playing through Elden Ring on PS5 and loving it but I'm sure it's not for everyone ~ 11/10 game though
tbh I binged the entire series that's available on Nextflix in Australia and my golly gosh it was so much more fun than I was expecting ~ 10/10 highly recommend
@ShePenny I totally agree, but I also think that's a slight oversimplification. In the case of Etsy, the products tend to be handmade and considered as 'fan art'. They also usually fill a gap in the market, in that the products available tend not to be available via other means. And regarding copyright & IP, the rights holders always have the option to report the infringing products in question via Etsy. It's actually really common for shops to be taken down for infringement (https://www.reddit.com/r/Etsy/comments/30i5c1/retsy_i_need_some_serious_advice_copyright/ for some further reading).
But yeah, these are generally harmless and you can often find some awesome stuff that exceeds the quality put out by officially licensed merch, so I'd rather give them my money than Ninty (they already get plenty of it anyway, ha!).
@Chocobo_Shepherd most writers on this site hail from the UK. In British English, punctation goes outside quotation marks. It's the exact inverse of US English, go figure?!

@ShePenny idk hey, supporting small businesses/indy creators vs multinationals seems like a nice thing to do (esp. during a pandemic?)
