@Mogli yeh starting to see this trend and its not good even for nintendo. nintendo needs to face some constructive criticism I feel they been too archaic these days, but tribalism here is too scared to even fault nintendo. One thing for sure is they have to improve that online function to you know allow online gaming party's and communication. Bad examples are like D3 on switch with no such functions.
@Freek Nah its not just you , i agree i mean look how great tears of the kingdom was engineered pretty much flawless built ground up on switch. but porting over the usual is 'downgrade assets and frame rate' which is literally what they admit there, theres just no way around it for them really. To be honest we don't have to have call of duty on switch we got other consoles / PC for that.
ah well not surprised with sub par 30 fps , but passable as a portable on the go. at least docked it does have 1080p although we are already creeping into the standard 4K era now.
@Nanami_Ataraxia Switch is not my only console , i still love the switch for its quality exclusives, but ports not so much, ports are often a poor shadow of the other versions on other consoles because of the hardware on switch isn't so great which no one is denying, even worst are the cheap attempt at cloud versions on switch to get around the issue. The return on investment for them to fully optimise a proper switch port while doable don't pay off from a business decision because they run better simply on other consoles and sell more from a early release before it came to switch. The reason i have other consoles is mainly because of that and of course games that aren't on switch mostly the fun online multiplayer games - which switch isn't performing well in comparison as its mostly a portable. Other than that if the rumored switch 2 is announced i will pre-order day 1 but it must have backwards compatibility. With 4K/60fps becoming standard in alot of households now including streaming media / gaming I have been on new consoles more for the full console gaming experience.
@Dezzy70 As the years go by its becoming apparently we do , im a multi console owner having both cross generations of nintendo , PS and xbox's and of late the 3rd parties have had flagship titles geared towards the next gen skipping switch more so often and if it becomes a port they will try to cloud it giving players a even worst experience - the issue is glaringly obvious I have also owned games that been on PS4 ported over to switch and the mobility while great does affect the performance when hardware isn't good enough for it. Very few games optimize well for switch ports and when they do they make no profit over the effort they spent to optimise for switch, its giving game developers a expensive lesson to steer towards other platforms now as much as i hate to see it. First party nintendo titles are great but they haven't hit some of the big marks of 3rd parties lately. As much as a nintendo fanboy i may have been there's a line of being delusional in the defence of nintendo that's starting to waver. The nintendo i loved back in the N64 era and ocarina of time seem to have been bygones and i haven't really seen anything amazing nintendo has done since then. I feel as if the ones in charge are too old fashioned and remain out of touch of new trends and needs they have little care of listening to customers or even have a channel for feedback to take in. regardless i still hope TOTK is a success, I'm looking forward to pikmin 4 which i still think its one of their more original IPs. But a new gen switch with better hardware at least to todays standard of 1080p / 60fps can take things further and retain more 3rd party developers quality titles. A improvement to online switch service is a must too - like actually let us play online with others with invite to game / chat messages to asking for partying etc. Some of their switch decisions have been abit of a step backwards for me unfortunately.
Yes it does now it was good at its launch but the gap grows wider as I also play other consoles that have released newer hardware at 10 times the power. Doesn't mean switch games are not enjoyable though. It does show some flaws because they struggle with technical performance when they try to port over games from PS4 etc. Frame rate issues are prob most notable these days
as much as I love nintendo games , the archaic board and directors are too old fashioned and rarely open minded these days in its business politics. Yes there's always a core fanbase that will always support them but eventually copium runs out and most people grow a brain. They need fresh blood with fresh minds. Most frustrating is its online capabilities on switch have gone even further backwards - lack of socialised gaming friends list you can''t even message to play a game makes me baffled. Their mobile app a huge flop that doesn't support games that need online communication like Diablo 3. Theres clearly some areas the need to polish up. The latest pokemon obviously was made to meet a launch date and not Quality standards. I'm not sure if things will get better after Iwata's sad parting. I do hope so but I have yet to see signs.. hopefully the first sign for me is a new switch pro with better hardware specs. revamp of its online service model to have proper social integration for online games etc.
@Friendly one thing that's tricky is giving direct feedback to nintendo, i have a few of my own but nintendo lacks a official channel to receive this. If they have a pokemon survey or forum it would be great, we give criticism because we truly want the game to be better. I seen people blindly defend the game which is really what will hurt the franchise. Scarlet and Violet has so much more potential and great mechanics just poor technical performance, still waiting on nintendo to 'acknowledge' this? not a word from nintendo so far it seems.
@Sakai83 Sooo true how can you but online but cannot communicate is the biggest joke of a 'online' service. Its even more frustrating to see friends list on switch and you have NO WAY to ask them to play games with you or chat.
As ALOT of people have pointed out the basics of a online function is to use it with friends list to communicate / chat to ask friends if they want to play a game. This is the biggest baffling thing about switch online service it literally mutes you online you cannot communicate? There is no way to give Nintendo this much needed feedback on this feature either. This is like a online function without the online facilities how ridiculous it is. So naturally no im not paying for it, even if they have games which are technically offline solo games that don't need a online service as you can't really engage anyone interactively...wise up guys. I love Nintendo but this is the one thing they are backwards on. They want things to be fun but they took away the enabler.

a coat of paint isn't really exciting, rather have a switch pro to take tears of the kingdom further
