Okay, downloaded and played the first five levels of LIT and first boss -
VERY good game. Addictive and intuitive. Reminds me a little like Toki Tori with the puzzle solving. Surprisingly low block count. Phone call sequences are well written. Second great WiiWare game of 2009 (Jungle Speed was the first).
Glad to see that indie developers aren't giving up on their dreams of making games. While I haven't played MadStone, it looks polished and fun and I look forward to Riverman Media's next title.
Top 5 for 2009 5) Eduardo the Samurai Toaster (have a good feeling about it) 4) Swords and Soldiers 3) Cave Story 2) LostWinds 2 (assuming there will be one) 1) LIT
My top ten -- 10) SBCG4AP Series 9) Mega Man 9 8) Gyrostarr 7) LostWinds 6) Tetris Party 5) Dr. Mario Online Rx 4) Defend Your Castle 3) Art Style: Orbient 2) Toki Tori 1) World of Goo
This game is my most anticipated WiiWare game. The trailer is really good and so is the music. I have a feeling LIT is going to become a showcase game for WiiWare in the future. Between LIT, Swords & Soldiers, and Cave Story, WiiWare has a very promising 2009.
The IGN review notes mainly that they don't enjoy the characters or the low production values. They say that the gameplay is very good. Honestly, I'm getting a lot of enjoyment out of the title. And no, I'm not a Steel Penny employee, before you all run a background check. LOL
@longtimegamer - I agree with you somewhat about puzzle games but I must say that they are surprisingly addictive. In the past year or so I've fallen in love with the puzzle genre. I appreciate puzzles with style and character, though - Toki Tori, Dr. Mario Online Rx, World of Goo, Tetris Party, and now Bruiser and Scratch. They offer the player a little something more than just falling blocks or putting things together.
As for your comment on the Hockey Allstar Shootout "game," I agree that it looks pretty simple, even for a small WiiWare download. The thin looks like a tech demo.
@KnuclesSonic8 - Glad I'm not the only one who thinks the game is really tough. I guess its difficulty is a good thing, though - at least the hardcore can't complain that it's too "casual"
I downloaded Bruiser and Scratch. First impressions -
-The game was clearly made by professionals. The graphics are nice and nothing dips, the "Channel" icon on the Wii Menu is cute and there is no slowdown. -The tutorial is absolutely necessary. This is not an easy game. You push items into each other to create new items and eventually all items combine into one. Sounds confusing but it's actually a lot of fun and kind of addictive. -The story mode has "cut scenes" but there's no real movement, just Bruiser and Scratch talking to each other and occasionally others. -The music is very nice, relaxing and family-friendly.
I would definitely recommend this game. It's a breath of fresh air and it is a clear step up from other third party WiiWare titles. But be warned - it's very hard.
You've gotta give Bplus for at least making their games with love. Both of their games are really fun to look at and have a certain enthusiastic quality. Hopefully the game mechanics will be VASTLY improved from Twist-n-paint...
That looks cool. The developer looks legit, too. For a second I was thinking it was going to be one of those high school kids that was good at rendering in Photoshop but that looks like a professional company.
I think Boingz is going to be a good game. Nintendo selected it to be featured for their October press event along with World of Goo, Tetris Party and Cave Story. I don't they would have picked a piece of shovelware. As for Sudoku Challenge! I think it looks pretty inoffensive at 500 points. How could the gameplay possibly be broken on a Sudoku game?
I LOVE Bust-A-Move clones. Seriously, I am excited for this one, because I don't want to spend money on a retail game like Bust-A-Move Bash when I can get a more creative spin on the title for cheaper.
You guys have got to stop expecting AAA titles every week. Besides, at least we are getting games at all - Europe and Japan's releases have been sporadic and uneven. Every week, Nintendo is giving us something new - not necessarily stuff that EVERYONE wants to play, but at least there's variety.

Re: First Impressions: Pole's Big Adventure
I highly doubt this one will get localized unless Sega of America/Europe is really not worried about being un-PC.
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Snowboard Riot & Lonpos
Well... Snowboard Riot looks good. Looking forward to next week, when the real fun begins! (LIT)
Re: Heracles: Chariot Racing
This game along with Cocoto Platform Jumper have been rated by the ESRB.
Re: Dragon Master Spell Caster
It is now rated by the ESRB as well.
Re: First Details Of Riverman Media's Next Game
Riverman Jacob - Can we see screenshots soon? I am eager to see the graphics, I like your art style from Madstone.

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Planet Pachinko and Jungle Speed
Is Liight rated by any European ratings boards?
Re: Planet Pachinko Out Next Monday On WiiWare
Look at the video on the developer's website, it really makes it look better. I think this could be a fun little game.
Re: Semnat Studios Announces Eduardo the Samurai Toaster
This looks great. I'll buy it for the visuals alone.

Hopefully WiiWare World will have an interview about the game soon.

Semnat Daniel - can you tell us a little about the game?
Re: Eduardo the Samurai Toaster
Can't wait to hear more about this one!

This game is my most anticipated WiiWare game. The trailer is really good and so is the music. I have a feeling LIT is going to become a showcase game for WiiWare in the future. Between LIT, Swords & Soldiers, and Cave Story, WiiWare has a very promising 2009.
Re: Plättchen: Twist 'n' Paint
This just in - IGN likes the game. Check out their review on the site. LOL
Re: LostWinds 2
Kamuki - get Defend Your Castle, it's 500 points and addictive.
Re: Behold The All New Swords & Soldiers Trailer
That looks excellent. I'm not too surprised, seeing as how it's made by the designers of the original De Blob.
Re: Allied Kingdoms Interview - Planet Pachinko
I'm intrigued.
Re: Big Kahuna Party to Bring Multiplayer Fun to WiiWare
From the YouTube video it looks like a fun Bejeweled clone.
Re: LIT
SO excited that the game is now ESRB rated! Won't be too long now before we see the game, hopefully.

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Bruiser & Scratch, Hockey Allstar Shootout
@Knuckles - I'm at level 10 so far... I can't imagine how hard it gets at level 20!

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Buster & Scratch, Hockey Allstar Shootout
Not too sure about Hockey Allstar Shootout (when they put "all" and "star" into one word you kind of give pause), but Bruiser and Scratch is a buy.
Re: Bruiser & Scratch
Announced for release on Dec. 8 from the game's website.
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Space Invaders Get Even & Pit Crew Panic!
Why exactly is everyone calling Pit Crew Panic shovelware?

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Space Invaders Get Even & Pit Crew Panic!
500 Japanese points is different than 800 US points I think. IGN gave the game somewhat positive impressions.
Re: Swords & Soldiers
Ooh, can we have some impressions from you? So lucky that you live in that area!
Re: Icarian: Kindred Spirits
Looks good, can't wait for a WiiWare World interview

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Boingz & Sudoku Challenge!
Well, MaBoShi's Arcade is now ESRB rated. That at least shows that MindWare's not just wishful thinking.
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Boingz & Sudoku Challenge!
On Digital Leisure's website they have a page for their next WiiWare game, Texas Hold'em Tournament.

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Pong Toss
Ooh... yay. These releases just keep getting better and better.
What's next week, Frat Party Games Hangover Party?
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Major League Eating
I actually think this game could be fun.
That being said... if Nintendo only releases one WiiWare game a week every week, it's going to be YEARS before the quality stuff gets out. =P
Re: Alten8: Eternity's Child Is Coming To North America
I told you so.
Re: Eternity's Child - No Plans For A North American Release
That's strange because I very recently emailed Alten8 and they said it would indeed be coming out in North America for WiiWare.
