@UsurperKing Thanks UK! I just feel more inclined to be more defensive about Sonic more than ever as the IDW comics, the live-action movies and the upcoming animated series Sonic Prime have helped solidified Sonic’s place as a legitimate pop culture icon again and not just an IP for the internet to make fun of. The more people who I see love Sonic genuinely the more comfortable I feel.
@BabyYoda71 Different opinions I don’t mind, but with some of my favorite things like Sonic, DC, Marvel, Harry Potter, Nintendo, Star Wars, etc, I always worry that any bad review would mean people would not like them anymore, and I want to ensure that people still like them so that I don’t feel alone when express that I’m a huge fan.
@LEGEND_MARIOID No, you are not wrong, This game IS VERY GOOD. They DID learn, it IS fun to play! It DOES have the effort put into it! Why do you guys keep saying stuff like that?
@NintendoJunkie Are you saying we can no longer be Sonic fans?! I want this series to continue to be successful and loved! PLEASE don’t leave, please don’t hate the games, please let the series go on!
@Nua The thing is with Sonic Frontiers, you KNOW the combo moves and special attacks. Every time you upgrade Sonic, it takes you to a training room where you can try out and get accustomed to the special attacks. IMO it’s not “button mashing” because you know the imputs, especially as you get used to them throughout the game.
@Snatcher That’s one of the biggest things I love about Frontiers, is that it’s a game where you can take your time. I see tremendous appeal in sandbox games where there is an objective, but you don’t have to go do that objectively immediately. You can choose to just explore and collect and interact. That’s something I think those accustomed to Sonic games have to get used to to see what this game goes for.
@ScribbleDot No, don’t be discouraged by what this guy says, play the game and have a blast. It’s not low standards, not at all. It’s just that this guy is super harsh.
@aromain150 I don’t get the whole “button-mashing” thing as a buzzword for combat people don’t like. Isn’t the idea of fighting enemies tapping the button several times commonplace in games? What is the satisfactory alternative?!
@veesonic No sense of direction? Dude, there’s a MAP that you can access at any time and it gets more revealed the more you complete the puzzles on those markers! And what’s more, you can PIN locations on the map and there’s a beam of light showing you where to go.
The only real complaint I have about Sonic Frontiers is the Titans bosses I found to be quite difficult. The Ares Island one you have to REALLY time your parrys or else you’ll be knocked back and lose time. Other than that, I love this game and think it’s a great step forward for future games.
@MatoFilipovic I am! I was really hoping this site would break out of the “3D Sonic games getting negative reception” thing and really enjoy this game for what it is, but apparently not. It really bothers me.
@Waluigi451 I love the second game, but does it have Jimmy Neutron, Garfield, Jenny, water sections, bikes or the customization system? I don’t think so.
@scully1888 Chris, I completely understand if this game wasn’t your cup of tea, but do you at least appreciate the amount of love and passion for the Nickelodeon series that’s represented in this game? I love all the customization options and hearing the voices of characters we’ve known and loved since our childhoods is very satisfying.
@scully1888 Chris, my most sincere apologies for all these replies and all the spamming. I’m a big fan of kart racers and a lifelong fan of all the series represented in this game (even Garfield). Thank you for not minding that I really like this game, and didn’t let it’s issue take away how much fun I had. Other big factors in why I’m so defensive is that 1. This game is on other systems like the PS5, Xbox systems and Steam where it’s sure to run better. 2. They announced future patches and updates to fix some of the framerate issues, so I can tell this game is being supported. 3. The slime shortcuts DO have “!” marks to let you know when to jump over gaps.
@scully1888 I think you were really harsh on this game. This game is really fun and feels like a nice upgrade over the first two. I can't take a review of a crossover game of IPs that I absolutely love seriously when you say that someone like Garfield "should be patched out". Also, JOJO DOESN'T SPEAK IN THIS GAME, SO WHY IS THAT A CON? Sorry for my defensiveness Chris, I just think you should have given this game a rating higher than 5/10.
@SteamEngenius I really don’t see how JoJo’s inclusion is a big deal when she’s the only character in the game who still doesn’t speak. There’s still an incredible amount of representation from many other great Nickelodeon classics we all know and love.
I don’t mean to leave so many comments in a row, but I HAVE to address Chris’ issue with the slime slide shortcuts. He claims that it’s difficult to see the barriers and it’s difficult to not get hit, and that’s untrue. When you get to a barrier, there’s a “!” that pops up so you know when to jump over it. Having played the game long enough, the key to getting used to those sections is to have fast reflexes and watch out for the “!” when you know when to jump. Master that and you will get “Slime Legend”s soon enough.
@FroZtedFlake Sorry about that. Yeah, I am sure they absolutely will patch the game to address any issues it has. Otherwise, this is a really good game for arcade style racing game fans and Nickelodeon fans.
Chris, I’m REALLY shocked that you see Garfield’s inclusion as a negative. Garfield is among one of the IPs that was a big part of my childhood, and I feel deserves more respect.
@HotGoomba Yes! Not just for Garfield, but for the track variety, the robust customization options, the faithfulness to the source material and having lots of variety in gameplay.
I really don’t know what you’re problem is with this game Chris. Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 to me is a great game, filled with so many characters that I grew up with (including Garfield), lots of great customisation options and I love the track designs and how it plays. Frame rate doesn’t matter to me, the joy of arcade style racing games and my love for all the represented series makes this a strong recommendation for those looking for a Mario Kart alternative.

@NintendoJunkie I see greatness and fun gators in Sonic games that you don’t.
Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers - A Bold But Ultimately Failed Attempt At Something New
@victordamazio Is there a way how we can prove to Sonic Team that we DO want this sort of game to be improved and expanded on for years to come?
Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers - A Bold But Ultimately Failed Attempt At Something New
@NintendoJunkie I for one really enjoy the games and don’t see it in the same light as you do.
Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers - A Bold But Ultimately Failed Attempt At Something New

Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers - A Bold But Ultimately Failed Attempt At Something New
@BabyYoda71 I wasn’t really “attacking” but if I did, it was out of instinct or force of habit. I am autistic after all.
