Re: Super Metroid

WoRMaSTeR

This game is legendary, there is simply nothing that could have been done better. Nintendo pulled out all the stops in this one. Propably the best game ever made, but not the greatest experience since it is a tad short.

Re: US VC Release - 2nd June - Ninja Combat

WoRMaSTeR

@ Zyzzybalubah
So what you are basically claiming that they haven't released good games this whole year because of WiiWare? And how does that at all explain why you americans seem to be getting the worst end of releases?

No offence but the weak dollar has alot to do with anything that is paid with dollars. Nintendo is making better money in Europe so we are higher in priority. Plain, simple and undeniable.

Re: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

WoRMaSTeR

The world of Virtual Console somehow magically seems about 7 times more exciting now that this is back in the realm of possible releases. I will forgive Nintendo for the horrible year 08 (it has been so far) if they just release this in Europe. Please, pretty please!

Re: Bionic Commando NOT coming to the Virtual Console!

@ firebrand
"Hate to break this to you, but it was Square who stabbed Nintendo in the back. They had a good relationship with Nintendo during the Super Nintendo years. They even had Square develop the Super Mario RPG. Then Square blindsided Nintendo and made Final Fantasy VII for the Playstation instead of the Nintendo 64. Square even made fun of the Nintendo 64 in their advertising campaign, saying it would have been impossible to put Final Fantasy VII on a cartridge."

Hate to break to you but Final Fantasy VII could have not been made on a cartridge, it took about million times the size of a maximum cartridge. And Square was right that the cd was the future of gaming, so Nintendo was wrong and paid the price.

Re: Double Dragon

WoRMaSTeR

No co-op kinda takes the double out of the title and everyone knows one dragon is cool, but not megacool like you know - double dragon!

Re: ClayFighter

WoRMaSTeR

Now this game was 600 Finnish marks (about 100 euros) wasted as I played it exactly once back in the day - it was that bad...

Re: Mario Kart 64

WoRMaSTeR

@Drake
"-The worst AI in any Mario Kart (Sometimes they continue to keep their illogical boost even when in 1st place meaning you can't ever beat them)"

Just because you can't beat a game doesn't mean it is bad or unfair. This game is ridiculously easy in 1 player once you get the hang of power sliding.

"-Bad track design (Rainbow Road is the worst RR of any Mario Kart and most other tracks are fairly bland)"

Rainbow Road is bad if you drive it in time trial. In any other mode and especially in multiplayer any track in this game is a hectic battle and you don't even notice the lacking graphics or the missing scenery. Overall this has the best tracs by a mile of any mario kart.

-Controls are too floaty (Mario Kart DS now has the best controls IMO)

The controls are perfect, they just take a while to master, which certainly isn't a bad thing! Once you master them breezing though the tracks is just pure fun.

"-Blue Shells are hard to use and nearly always crash into walls"

Ridiculous claim and just why I had to respond. They are fairly easy to use and I utterly love the fact that they atleast require some skill to use. They are by far the most annoying powerup in ds, gamecube and wii versions. They require no skill to use and usually don't even benefit the one getting it, so all they do is annoy the hell out of people.

Overall this game isn't very good in one player, but it is the best multiplayer experience and that is what mario kart is about. And that is what makes this the best game in the series.

Re: EU VC Release - 4th April - Yoshi's Cookie

WoRMaSTeR

Just when I though it would be getting a little bit better after the 3 games last week. I wish they would even bother to give out some official explanation why the releases have been so scarce and frankly really bad...

Re: Paper Mario

WoRMaSTeR

@konkerdoodle: "I don't understand why everyone on this thread is so down on Super Paper Mario!" Because it is strictly inferior to it's first two incarnations (not counting Super Mario RPG) and frankly the biggest disappointment on the Wii so far.

This is a very good game and certainly worth the download. Thousand Year Door is a better game, but you cannot get it for 1000 Wii points.

Re: Talking Point: The State of Play of the Virtual Console

WoRMaSTeR

Let me clarify why Nintendo is getting more money this way as some people here don't seem to understand. Most of the people (not hardcore gamers) just decide to go to the VC and buy a game. They choose the game that pleases them most at the time, they don't care what isn't available, they buy what is available. If everything would be available straight away people would just buy the games they really want and no sub-bar games would sell at all.

Many people just go to the what is new section and just buy a game, they don't read reviews so really they just get what pleases the eye at that time. You seem to think everybody who buys from the VC is a hardcore gamer. If it were true then your hypothesis for everyone just waiting for what they want would be true, but as it is far from the truth you are wrong.

Re: Talking Point: The State of Play of the Virtual Console

WoRMaSTeR

As a customer I want more games and by all math it should easily be possible (they are propably going to add more consoles and even the existing ones have plenty to support 5 years of 3 a week releases). Of course Nintendo gains more money by doing it this way (people tend to buy the best thing available), so if you appreciate Nintendo gaining more money then you can be happy with the situation.

And please stop complaining about bad games. You don't have to download them? It is still nice to have a choice to download them, even the worst of the worst are someones childhood favorites.

The best thing in my view would be to realease everything as soon as it becomes available, you know just like in the real world. It pisses me off Nintendo is holding back games just for profits and there is no way around that fact.

Re: WiiWare microtransactions - good or bad thing?

WoRMaSTeR

Isn't anyone else worried about the very limited memory of the Wii in contrast to all the things they seem to be planning to be available for download? Downloadable content is bad if planned ahead like in Need For Speed: ProStreet, where you have to pay for the best cars, which frankly pisses me off. If however it is developed after the release and is clearly an add-on then it is a great thing.

Re: StarTropics

WoRMaSTeR

Now this is exactly why the virtual console kicks ass. I have never played this, but based on the review and comments will definitely download!

Re: Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

WoRMaSTeR

DKC 2 is better and it really has to do with the difficulty. This game is just plain easy to get 103 % after DKC 2. Most of the insanely hard levels in DKC 2 are optional to complete, so you cannot really complain. DKC 2 also last about 3 times longer and the experience is more enjoyable. DKC 3 adds nothing, but falls short of DCK 2 so it deservely got criticism.

Re: EU VC Releases - 31st August - Bonk 3

WoRMaSTeR

Great Bonk 3 is a "big" release that limits the games to 2, but when Super Meroid came out in the states along with it came 2 other great games. I feel really cheated, better bring the goods next week Nintendo!

Re: Ice Hockey

WoRMaSTeR

"It's a shame you can't get more involved in the fight like later Ice Hockey games. In this game the ref will just send one of the players off for a while which seems random."

Yes you get to be involved in the fight, tap the a button as fast as you can. If you do the opponent gets a penalty if not you get a penalty.

Re: US VC Releases - 20th August - Super Metroid

WoRMaSTeR

I would not hold my breath for Goldeneye - it is a licenced game + a rare (a microsoft company nowdays) made game. In other words it is never going to be published in the VC. If it is I will eat my hat with salt and pepper!

Re: Paper Mario

WoRMaSTeR

Ray: You propably played it for 15 minutes, the battle system isn't so much turn based because you can do action commands to dodge enemy attacks and do more damage.

It doesn't even have much talk, I mean compare this to any PC RGP (fallout comes to mind) and it doesn't have 1/100 of the speech it has. And most of the suff is hilarious to read, so I really don't know what you are complaining about.

If you really want not to like it you are gonna have to do better than that!

Re: Mario Kart 64

WoRMaSTeR

I have to totally disagree that the SNES version is better than this one. The SNES version is very very good, but after you play this you cannot go back. And for the record I played the SNES version to the death before playing this. I much rather play this one and particularly in multiplayer it totally rules. Battle mode has sucked about a million hours of mine and my friends time.

I guess it is point of view because I also totally dislike the GBA version which is a lot like the SNES version, but totally love the DS version. It is a coin toss which one is better - this one or the DS version, but I would still go with this one since battle mode is propably the best multiplayer ever made.

Re: Punch-Out!!

WoRMaSTeR

This game really has aged well. Playing it is so much fun. The only problem being it is a tad short, even tough it has great replay value. Mr. Dream is insanely difficult, still haven't managed to beat him even if I can easily beat everyone else.

Re: Metroid

WoRMaSTeR

You really can't make a case for it deserving more stars. Yes it is a true classic and it has its moments, but what it comes down to you cannot recommend this to anyone who hasn't played it before. It is hard and without any kind of map you are gonna wonder around for two hours and quit. Even if you by chance happen to play longer once you die enough times you get really fustrated having to collect about a billion dots of energy to get it full again. Only to fall into the lava to die again.

All in all for a hard core gamer (who has played this to the death before) this might rate as 5 stars, but as a game in the current day it only deserves the three stars.

Re: Ice Hockey

WoRMaSTeR

This is just downright fun to play. It is amazing how good it feels to score in this game. One of the best sport games ever - simple but so much fun.

Minus is that you don't sometimes feel like you are in control because the computer al of your players is so stupid. Also there isn't enough challenge against computer, I can win every time no matter what players I take or what teams.
