@MrYuzhai Agreed. This would be great to also have on the 3DS. Sure - have a smartphone version. But my 3DS is where I do my serious handheld gaming. It is odd that I cannot use Miitomo on the same platform I'm earning rewards for.
The GBA ports were very good for their time and within the limitations of the form factor, but these 3DS Virtual Console releases are top notch in every regard. So far I've bought every new SNES VC title, and eagerly await more (get a move on Nintendo!).
I feel sorry for old 3DS owners, but hey - the New 3DS is better with it's tracking 3D, improved button placement, bigger screens, and cool cover plates. I barely ever bothered with the wonky 3D on old 3DSes. Now it's on full time.
But I digress... DKC is the best ever DK game IMO, and this is now the finest way to play it on the go. You'd be mad not to buy this if you're at all into platforming and 16bit era gaming.
Frankly my main focus in Miitomo is to farm reward points for the new Club Nintendo replacement: My Nintendo. I even created a second Mii on an old iPod touch just to ensure I received the max rewards via interactions on my main account (sometimes all the random people I 'friended' and the couple real friends don't manage to complete all my daily missions) Yes, one virtual self talking to another virtual self. I am that sad.
But aside from earning rewards to use outside of Miitomo, I have found my first week of Miitomo usage mildly entertaining. Such that I've even stuck around for a while each day after I've already farmed all possible rewards.
Will I care in a week, a month, a year? I doubt it. Unless more real life friends join me and decide it's worth their time, the random social interactions will become so much uninteresting background noise as I farm rewards.
Certainly I have zero plans to pay any actual money for IAP to play the weak in-app games Miitomo has.
I will add in closing, that surprisingly I've enjoyed the Animal Crossing style dress up for my Mii, more than I expected. Sadly there's no AC style world to go out and about in, wearing my new threads. But so far that's where all my in-app currency (that Nintendo hands out for free) has gone.
Holds up surprisingly well after all these years, and is even pleasingly simpler and less 'OMG let me consult Bulbapedia to know what's effective' every match.
I enjoy the later gens a lot, but gen 1 and 2 were more rock/paper/scissors than gen 3+ and their chess level of complexity.
I will say it is a shame Game Freak didn't fix at least the most major of bugs. Some stuff such as the Mew exploit are charming. Broken game mechanics are far less so.
But it is what it is, and I bought Blue for the 3DS on the day of release
I find it tough to control Toad just right on a small screen. This game was better on a much larger TV's screen. But precision control with tiny sprites on my 3DS aside, it is reasonably fun and a pleasing change in mechanics from pure falling block games.
The difficulty ramps way up on 'Very Hard', from supposedly 'Hard' and 'Normal' modes. But this is a fun little 8bit handheld falling blocks game. Easily worth the low price.

Re: Review: Toy Defence (3DS eShop)
I'm also unaware of more than a few tower defence games on the eStore. iOS - hundreds. 3DS - hardly any IME.
