Re: Poll: Is Your Nintendo Switch Cracking Under The Pressure?

WilvdP

Me Too (!).
I have the Switch red/blue launch version, purchased on Day 1 here in The Netherlands.
Since then, I’ve had to send in my joycon for repairs twice, first time for the low connection signal, second time for a malfunctioning joystick. This was neatly corrected by Nintendo under warranty conditions.
So far Ok. But your article made me check my Switch and I found 3 cracked spots:

  • the plastic struts covering the heat vent (of which I was already aware, but didn’t mind so much ...)
  • on the rear housing, near the paper serial number, originating from the triforce screw
  • on the front housing, bottom left, between the edge and the glass display
I never have let my Switch take a fall or have it hit something!
Therefore, these cracks must be a manufacturing or design issue, also taking all the other disturbing posts on this issue into account.
I really think that Nintendo should consider repairing this, with little or no cost at all for their loyal day 1 buyers, because it would be unfair to let them take the burden. After all this is clearly a manufacturing error, that slowly developed and only could become apparent at the end of the Switches first year of existence. Saying: Bad Luck for you, your warranty is 3 months void, would be highly unfair.

Re: Review: Kingdom: New Lands (Switch eShop)

So here is what I think is the correct procedure: Reviewers should always EXPLAIN their scores, especially whe these happen to be relatively low or high. IMHO it's totally possible to personally like a game (like 8/10), while the policy or rules of the website you're working for dictate that it should be 6/10, because the reviewed version (Switch) adds nothing new compared earlier versions (Xbox etc) ... So, you should always MOTIVATE your scores, better.
I also have the Xbox version, and it's good, really good.
In this case: Kingdom New Lands received high scores in the past, while all the reviewers justly warned for the difficulties and frustrations as a result of permadeath in this game.
What is more of an concern with the Switch title to me personally is/was:

  • Is it rushed because of the deadline: E.g. the framedrops occurring while in-game light changes (Tegra specific?)
  • The (2018?) Kingdom Two Swords has been suggested as an update all over the internet, in various emails and blogs from the dev. So, am I stupid now to have purchased New Lands, while I'll have to pay again later to obtain the (standalone?) Two Crowns. That really sucks... Why on earth should I have bought New Lands, when it will be obsolete when Two Crowns comes out a few months later? DEV (or Nintendo/Publisher..), are you taking note of this?

Re: SEVERED Slashes Its Way onto the Switch eShop, Out Today

Too pricy for a hires game that cannot be displayed on tv, because of its touch screen dependance. If you own an iPad, you'd better buy it for half the price in the IOS app store, and you'll enjoy the hires on the iPad's larger mobile screen ...
They really should have launched the Switch version for half the price ..

Re: Editorial: In Praise of the Smaller New Nintendo 3DS - The Best 3DS*

WilvdP

It's partly Nintendo's own fault, not making it possible to have my account and games on two devices. I bought the New 3DS as well as the NEW 3DS XL against my own better judgment, hoping they eventually would make this possible in the near future.
I figured to use the XL then at home an the smallet device on the go. I particularly liked the smalller device for its sturdiness and pixel density. I ended up selling the small New 3DS, because I never ot to use it really,, only once or twice after a 300 games data transfer! The functionality I longed for was never realised by.Nintendo, which is a great disappointment IMHO.
