@wayneyrob22 I think Bayonetta 1+2, Hyrule Warriors, Sonic Boom, whatever Amiibo brings, Devils Third, Captain Toad AND Smash Bros in the next 5 months purely as exclusives is pretty good. Add to that Watch Dogs and Fifa or whatever

Really seems like this game is doing everything right Best part is that it seems like it could be quite deep strategically, and so hopefully also appeal to a more hardcore crowd

What we need to remember sometimes is the combined numbers of the 3ds XL and the normal 3ds
Does anyone know if Japan likes Mariokart? I just remember they are not too keen on Zelda always, so I was interested in which of the big franchises they 'do' like

The only thing wrong with the GamePad is nintendo's support of it, which I have no words for. After their decision to thoroughly support it and make use of it, they release DKTF - let's face it, they could easily have included some levels a-la the DK levels in NintendoLand, those were awesome - and now MarioKart, which uses it as a horn. I have no words that can adequately express my criticism of Nintendo's failure to utilize their own strongest feature.

The only semi-positive thing to take from this is that it always takes them time to pick up speed - it took a long while before the Wii made good use of its controller, it took a long time for the 3DS to receive proper support, and the Wii U will get the same, in time.

Pretty cool - makes me wish that Dixie-Kong is a Diddy alternative skin - it could work!

Sadly, I suspect that many reviewers will drop the review a point because the game has such ridiculous GamePad-use - I suspect a 9 from NintendoLife, and around 85 Metascore

I think it's pretty safe to say that they will move past those numbers, Mario Kart should do that alone, and smash and hopefully also Bayonetta coming out.
Which makes me wonder;
Either they are intentionally low-balling on the Wii U, to next year say "See? We exploded past those numbers, the Wii U isn't doomed",
or 2, as Peach64 is saying, they dont have any other releases than those two, and are not counting on them selling - which would suck.

I am hopeful, S.T.E.A.M will hopefully be interesting to many, and Mario Kart should sell a least a couple of million of U's

@Haywired I hope that the recent turn of events will move them in newer directions - hoping for new IPs soon.

The Wii U is the best console ever created - It has enough power to run great looking games, it has a focus on local multiplayer (by far the best kind imo), but can still run on-line, AND it has a focus on assymmetric gameplay, a true hidden gem in my opinion.
Also, I like the sound the monkey says in their logo.

The worst thing about Mario Kart I find, is that the tracks get old faaairly quickly - I really hope, with their new venture into DLC, that they'll add more tracks later. That would have kept Mario Kart 7 fresh for me a lot longer

@Captain_Toad Apparently it's the company's first game - the website isn't very good looking, but I don't see how that matters a lot. It seemed like people here were ganging up on the poor guys making games for them -.-

Game is a little too slow for my tastes - if you're attack from behind, or by two subs, you're practically dead meat

I love the manga, but a game-trailer that puts Fighting and Epic Quests behind Fishing and Bug-catching does not look promising

Let's hope for a surprise, although I'm not expecting it - tried the original a year ago and didnt like it.
Imagine if they one day released a Mario or Yoshi game with an extremely deep complex story, just do a complete 180 on it and surprise everyone?

May 30th (practically June) is a looong way off I think Nintendo is handling this the wrong way - so far, they've hoped that the release of a single game will turn things around but it hasn't so far - next time is Mario Kart, released by itself, and I fear this wont help in the big picture. They need to do a one-two release knockout punch - maybe Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros and X in the same month - THAT would get sales started.

@Silent I agree in part with what you say - the graphics and the gameplay look phenomenal as always, but stagnation is never a good thing - I hope I am wrong and that the side-ways/upside-down driving will bring something unexpected to the gameplay-table, but the game shouldnt resemble the previous game too much

I'm from Europe, so naturally I watched that direct, but just saw a bit of the one from America, and it's a lot better I think.

@alistairstrogg I think they dont have anything to show right now - maybe it's a good strategy actually, since the slow drip-drip of games so far has failed to sell a lot of machines. Maybe they are gearing up for a knock-out, which is sorely needed - one can hope

Quite horrible direct I thought - did they show us a single new thing? Why did they even have a direct, when most of what they showed were trailers anyway? The first 5 minutes were good, then came a boring 20 or so minutes, and then some Wii U trailers.
I am disappoint, but that's only cause I expected a new reveal. The bayonetta 2 trailer actually made me less excited for that game, and the female voice-actress in the X clip drove me insane.

Seems like something I could make - which makes me a bit sad for the review score

They had this in both Germany and now in Denmark - I only got the Mario one with the block before they took it down in Germany though!

While DK while be a friggin' awesome game that I personally probably will love to death, he doesn't really have star-factor outside of the Nintendo-crowd, does he? Sad to say I don't think he will change much - they should probably have gone for the one-two KO combo with 3d World and DK over christmas
