Re: Talking Point: How Do You Play NES Games These Days?

Wandering_Samurai

I still have a functioning NES, but I rarely use it, I've mostly dumped my collection and play with a emulator on computer or on my Analogue pocket. I do have my systems all the way to the switch including the VB, but I pull them out when showing people who have never seen or played them. Just for convince though, I tend to use emulators. I do miss the old days though, started with the Atari 2600.

Re: Opinion: Nintendo, Let Us Buy The Games Being Delisted From Switch Online

@tektite_captain That particular game may not have been great, but this just proves that digital only isn't the best way to go. I go for physical when it's a option, but I don't like having the chance of my digital game, movie or game disappears, and it has been happening, It's not true ownership and I want to own my stuff and pass it along.
While we may never get the virtual counsel back, If we got the ability to have the game transfer to the next system without a cost like from the wii to the wii-u, I would purchase some of those games. Just happy I kept my old games while growing up, some of the prices to get them again is crazy.

Re: Poll: Are There Any Good Lord Of The Rings Games On Nintendo Consoles?

Wandering_Samurai

Really like the Hobbit for Game cube and game boy advance. Both are ones I replay every once in a while, and they both play differently, the Game cube one is a 3rd person platformer and the gba was like a top down Zelda. Both also have puzzles and lock-picking/disarming traps to fit in with burgling. I do play the game cube more often though. I tried to love the SNES game, but could never get into it. I do like the Shadow of Mordor series, but unfortunately that never came to Nintendo.

Re: Bleach's Free-To-Play Mobile Hack-And-Slash Is Coming To The Switch eShop

Wandering_Samurai

@JohnnyMind I have played on on mobile for a while, but haven't played it in years. I do remember enjoying it, I liked the fact you could move characters and press buttons to hack and slack and use special moves. As to why I dropped of, life just happened. The main gripe I have with most mobile games is waiting to be able to try a stage again when your life runs out. I might try this out again, I would say it was an enjoyable game and wish I could restore the characters I had for this game, but it's been a while and that's the way it is. I would think the game would be more enjoyable with physical buttons instead of the virtual ones on the phone. Another enjoyable thing about this game was the side stories or events that fleshed out the characters. Again it was a fun time.

Re: Best Batman Games On Nintendo Systems

Wandering_Samurai

There is a error on the Batman The Animated series for the GB. It's not a game boy color game, and sadly, you can't just switch between the characters at whim, though when it was released it was billed that way, you do play as Batman thru most of the game, but it has 2 Robin sections that I remember, it's been a while, still enjoy that game though.

Re: Talking Point: Which Classic Cartoons Deserve The Shredder's Revenge Treatment?

Wandering_Samurai

I voted Thundercats, that's something that would work well with the format of the Turtles game. Even if it wasn't the same style of game, I would love to see a Thundercats get a nice game.

He-man would be my second choice, the last He-man game I played was on my old Ipad, and was fun considering, and if you beat it, you got to play as She-ra! A game with those characters would be fantastic!

Batman would be fun, but Batman Returns was a good game for this them, loved throwing enemies in the background and breaking windows and such. Good times.

I would say X-men is another good choice, and while I enjoyed the Simpsons back in the arcade days, I'm not sure it would work again. Would be happy to be proven wrong though.

Re: Talking Point: Should Link Have Voice Acting In The Next Zelda Game?

Wandering_Samurai

I'm not opposed to Link having a voice, he did say "come on" in wind waker, the most I've ever heard him in a video game. I can understand the silence, but at this point, if you can have Zelda can say a few words, I would think he could too.

That said, there would be a great deal of pressure to get it right, and if they did do it, I wouldn't want to wait 10 years for a game to get it right or release at all, just for giving him dialogue.

Re: Poll: Do You Actually Want Switch Ports Of Wind Waker And Twilight Princess?

Wandering_Samurai

I have both these games on the Game cube, and enjoyed them both. I wouldn't be opposed to getting them on the switch again, but it would be easier to swallow if they had a collection of games, all of the original Zeldas on NES, SNES and the Game boy titles (including the GB Color) and Minish cap. A dream perhaps, but what a lovely dream it would be. I had Skyward Sword on Wii, but didn't get into it. The port on the Switch I got really far.
On that same note, Nintendo on switch doesn't normally have noticeable discounts which makes it hard to buy games for it on my opinion, but hey, if people are buying it, why change the practice? If nothing else, I'm just gonna throw them on the dolphin and let it ride.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game?

Wandering_Samurai

I can appreciate that people aren't dumping on the first NES game. I love the AVGN episode on it as it's a comedy show, but I'm with folks that people think it's garbage because of that review. I laugh at people that had trouble with the water level, most people around me had trouble with Lv 3 and up. That said, It's a good game and will probably always be one of the top ones for me.

Overall, of all the games I've played, Enjoyed all the NES ones, arcades are great and SNES are great as well. The Gameboy series was okay, my favorite from there was Radical Rescue which kinda is a remix of the first NES game, where you can and have to save turtles and switch to them to get thru certain areas, but you all share the same health bar, where the NES one has separate health bars.
The GBA games are worth anyone's time to play, if I have to chose though, Battle Nexus takes the win there. In the GC arena I think the 2003 and the movie games are my top picks there, (The poll above only list the wii version for TMNT) the 2003 was only 2 players, but graphics were well done and essentially followed the first season of the cartoon. While Battle Nexus and Mutant Nightmare are okay and are 4 players, I got them to unlock the arcade ports, which shatterd my joy for those ports, although Mutant Nightmare Turtles in Time was better than the Battle Nexus original arcade was awful (took out all the original music and sound effects, don't play that one).
The movie port was fine, Prince of Persia type play, but also had some neat challenge maps and at the time, you could unlock scenes of the movie which had just released.
Long post I know, but really love these games. Of course a big fan of Shredders Revenge, hits a lot of the right spots and glad it was made.

Re: Feature: Which Is The Absolute Best Nintendo Console Generation?

Wandering_Samurai

I was at the start, so the NES, GB holds a lot of nostalgia for me, and I do play those games often out of all the systems( which I have and still work, never was able to get the VB though), my most favorite was the Game Cube. I got much use and enjoyment from it and thanks to the Wii and Wii U homebrew, still get much enjoyment from. Makes me wish Game Cube was native on Wii U, but it runs well. Being a parent of a young one though, I usually play from the NES/GB/SNES because those allow the quick hits. Each system has it's charms though.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Batman Game On Nintendo Systems?

Wandering_Samurai

Having gown up with Nintendo, I will always hold the first batman game in high regard, and do go back to it a lot. Return of the Joker for NES didn't do much for me, enjoyed the music, but I'm just not used to Batman using a gun (I know in the original comics he did, but still) The game boy version has bad controls though and never got far in it.

Batman Returns for SNES was good as well, always enjoyed throwing the enemies in the back ground and messing up the scenery.
Really enjoyed the Animated Series on GB, the only gripe was the ending was just a text screen, everything else was fantastic.

The Arkham Series is a great series and while I did enjoy the Wii U ports, I ended up dealing with some minor bugs, playing the 360, Playstation and CPU many times. I am amazed though that Asylum never made it to the Wii U. It should have run well.
