I'm not not disappointed, since I've really been looking forward to this one. But I have lots of other things to play right now and more development time means a better finished product, so I'm glad they're not rushing it.
Can't wait for this! I loved Return to Dreamland, but I'm definitely more of a handheld gamer, so having a Kirby game along those sames lines on the go is a dream come true!
Oh, gosh. How weird to see these again after so many years! o_o
I created the Monkey Ball and Commander Keen tiles on that first one, but I had nothing to do with the later ones. I had no idea there have been so many now!
This game just keeps looking better and better! It's got such a nice classic feel about it without crossing in the territory of being too rehash-y, from what I can tell.
Glad to see this! I loved Return to Dreamland, but I prefer to play sidescrollers on the handheld. I was hoping the 3DS would get a similar Kirby game, and it looks like that's just what's being made!
Yeah, the character portraits don't look to be nearly as appealing as the ones from Risky's Revenge. I'm rather surprised they changed, actually, given how most of the rest of the visuals look to be either pulled directly from Risky's Revenge, or at least drawn in the same style. Still, I'm super excited about this. Love the other two games, so I'm not going to complain about getting another!
The GCN original didn't really grab me when I tried it, but I Park Patrol is one of my all time favorite DS games. I love Chibi-Robo! He's one of my favorite Nintendo characters, so I'd love to see some more of him make it to the US!
I'd be all over a soundtrack release. I did find the game slightly underwhelming when I played through it yesterday, but the soundtrack delivered in spades. Some truly excellent music, both the old tunes and the new tunes alike!
I never had any consoles growing up, so I did stuff like this all the time as a kid. I once created a GameBoy using an envelope and then made little "cartridges" out of paper that could fit inside it with drawings of games I liked on them. Since I had a little window cut out where the screen would be, you could see the drawings when the carts were inside, so I'd pretend I was playing games that way.
Hooray for more Chibi-Robo! Park Patrol was a really excellent time-killer on the DS. Many hours sucked away by that game back in the day! Shame we never got the second DS Chibi-Robo game in America. Perhaps this one will correct that?
As odd as this release seems in concept there must be an audience for it. Given that the 3DS, 360, and PS3 version of this have been out of for a while now, I doubt they'd be bothering releasing it on more platforms now if those versions weren't selling.
Oh man, I really can't wait for this. I love Banjo-Kazooie music in general, and the Nuts & Bolts soundtrack was fantastic, so more orchestral B-K music is okay by me! The samples on the website sound wonderful.
This game is a great example of how different does not necessarily have to be bad, as long as the new concepts are just as fun and interesting as what was done before. For my money, I'd say this is the best NES Mario platformer, despite being so far removed from what it typical expected from a Mario game. It also has the best Mario sprite from any of the 2D games!
Wind Waker wasn't the first Zelda game I played, but it was the first Zelda game I owned, so it was the first one I enjoyed completely. The Zelda series isn't always a series I enjoy that much, but Wind Waker is absolutely sublime.
@Philip_J_Reed: Sam Goody is still around. There's one in the mall where I live. I'd say that's still a fairly good description of the store! The only thing they have going for them is that since they started stocking used products, it's not a half-bad place to track down some obscure movies. Which must be the only reason they're still in business, honestly...
Hooray! I was a little disappointed to see that this game appeared to be mostly 2D at first, so this is good news in my book! 3D platformers are my favorite types of games, and handheld consoles get good ones so rarely. Can't wait for this one now!
The name and lack of marketing is definitely confusing some people. I have several friends who are enough into video game to own a Wii and play New Super Mario Bros and such, but not much more. Even after playing a bit of Nintendo Land they didn't realize that the "Wii U" was actually the console, and not just a tablet accessory for the Wii. They were certainly interested in it, but I had to actively explain that it was an entirely new console. Even with higher quality visuals, there aren't a lot of immediately obvious clues that the Wii U isn't just and updated version of the Wii, like the DS Lite or the DSi.
The naming convention worked for the Super Nintendo because there weren't many different versions of the NES before it. However, now with so many consoles in the DS family sharing the same sort of name, I think most people automatically assume that a console with the same name as its predecessor is just a revision and not something completely new, which is completely understandable. Unless there's a number in the title to specifically note that it's the "sequel" to the previous hardware, the name alone won't be an obvious enough clue.
My favorite NES platformer right here, and one of my favorite games ever. The 3D Classics version is one the of the games I revisit the most frequently on the 3DS. So glad to see this masterpiece come to the Wii U so early!
Yeah, I was especially disappointed that this version of Racing Transformed is a bit sub-par considering that the DS iteration of the original All-Stars racing was wonderful. Given how well they scaled that game down for the DS hardware, I figured they wouldn't have any troubles making this one work for the 3DS too. Oh well.
