Re: Nintendo Hints At An Additional Platform In The Future

Toms_Den

Hmm....I'm thinking of possibly an iPod to iPhone approach: the 3DS could be for the kids who obviously don't need/can't get a phone, while an actual 3DS styled phone could be for the older kids/older audience that want both a phone and a gaming system.

Maybe they could also make the Wii U GamePad a stand-alone tablet! That would be awesome!! And than, of course, the Wii U console would be the big daddy! Home to the big, bad, hardcore stuff!

Ok, maybe the phone is kinda off, but who wouldn't want a Nintendo Tablet that would actually work without the console itself? That would be sweet!

Re: Castlevania Is Stalking Onto The 3DS Virtual Console Soon

Toms_Den

I'm new to Castlevania, and have recently gotten kind of into through the music from the games. I don't have any of the games yet, but I plan to start with Mirror of Fate, that is, if I can get past the M rating. The game was supposed to be rated Teen too.....oh well, the game looked awesome at E3!

Re: Fire Emblem: Awakening Cut Down By Shipping Delay

Toms_Den

I think it would be cool if Nintendo allowed pre-orders for eShop games, so that as soon as the game is released, you would wake up in the morning and have it already downloaded to your game system!

I know this has nothing to do with the delays, but I thought I would share my stroke of genius anyway.

Re: Latest Figures Show The Video Game Market Is Contracting

Toms_Den

I think a few of the problems here have to do with mobile gaming: many casual gamers don't need a video game system anymore, or a handheld, for that matter, because all of their gaming needs can be found on a smartphone, tablet, an iPod, or even on Facebook, and to top things off, games on those services are much cheaper, or even free! You see, back in the day with the GameBoy, the GBA, the DS, and maybe even the Wii at it's launch, this smartphone-gaming market didn't really exist. Games on cellphones usually consisted of Solitaire and other boring stuff (Don't get me wrong, love solitaire! ), which meant that casual gamers had to buy a GameBoy, an N64, a PlayStation, or whatever if they wanted a good gaming experience besides the one on a PC. However, today, that's not that case. Smartphones can do everything, including casual gaming, so that entire market doesn't need a Nintendo DS to have video games on the go. In fact, why bother when you can carry your entire video, music, and photo library as well as all of your games on one device? Sounds like the perfect casual gaming machine!

So basically, this could explain the shrinking market. That, and I think Nintendo would probably get some more sales if they put to death Emulation. Seriously, they claim to be doing so much to prevent it, but I could go on Google and easily find 15 different sites where I can download Super Mario Bros. and find a step-by-step tutorial on how to play it on my PC. It's just sad.

Re: Talking Point: The Legend of Zelda: Remakes of the Past

Toms_Den

I think Nintendo should focus on porting some of it's other titles. We've got Ocarina of Time on N64, twice on GameCube, once on Wii, a 3DS version, and most likely it will also be on Wii U. Nintendo, it's time to focus on a different game here. I understand it sells a ton, but jeez, I would like to play a few other games besides Ocarina of Time every now and then...or Super Mario Bros....or NEW Super Mario Bros., for that matter...

Re: You Can't Use Your Wii Virtual Console Saves With the Wii U Virtual Console

Toms_Den

Actually, I think there is a workaround! On the original Wii VC, the games didn't save onto the ROM itself, it saved onto the Wii's Flash Memory, just like a typical Wii disc game. These save files could be copied over to an SD Card, also just like regular Wii saves. This meant that you could put your VC saves onto an SD Card, put the card into your computer, and upload your saves online. You could also download other people's save games onto the SD Card and use them with VC on the Wii. (I'm pretty sure, anyway)

My point is, and even though it wouldn't be your save game, maybe with Wii U's VC you'll be able to go online, download someone else's save file and use it on your Wii U copy! Again, not perfectly sure if this will work, or if it did work on the original Wii, but if it does work, then you won't have to worry about restarting your games!

I even put my save file of Paper Mario on an SD Card and I was able to play my save game on the Dolphin emulator! It was sweet!

Re: Iwata: 10 Key 3DS Titles On The Way This Year

Toms_Den

I think if 3DS had more than just a crap ton of JRPGs on it...

I know, I'm totally trolling here. There are many awesome games on 3DS, but they've been coming out with LOTS of JRPGs on 3DS recently, and with the current popularity of 3DS in Japan, it makes sense.

Re: Wii U Price Cut Isn't in Nintendo's Plans

Toms_Den

Price cut not necessary, but seriously, I would love Nintendo to flat-out just come out and tell me why Wii U is the next console I'm going to buy: show me how the GamePad really revolutionizes gaming and makes it better, and tell me how service like Virtual Console, the eShop, and other things are bigger and most of all: BETTER. I want Nintendo to kind of organize it a bit; have it make sense to consumers.

Really, I think Wii U just needs an exclusive Sonic game and I'll buy it. XD

Re: So, How Is The Wii U Doing In The UK?

Toms_Den

I don't have a Wii U yet. But that's mainly because I have lots of last-gen stuff left to go through. I mean, I have so many GameCube, Wii, and Xbox 360 games left to complete, especially since I mindlessly bought so many Virtual Console titles....but anyways, I only have one DS game left to go, and I can finally get my hands on some shiny, awesome 3DS games! Gotta, admit, I'm loving the 3DS. So far I only have Mario Kart, Super Mario 3D and Sonic Generations on it, and it's been nearly a whole year since I've purchased a new game! So excited to move into the next-gen!

It's not just Europe that the Wii U is failing in, however. Nintendo just hasn't captured people yet; they haven't gotten enough people on-board with Wii U, and to be honest, they haven't quite gotten me either... Everyone I talk to is always totally careless about Wii U. Wii U doesn't seem to be really big at all! Everyone I know who has a Wii u is just like: "Yeah, I have a Wii U. It's pretty cool." but no one seems to actually be really into it. I can't really point out a direct spot where Nintendo is missing it, but they are just generally missing it. I always hear everyone say, "The Wii U has so much potential!!" Okay, I don't care about potential. NOBODY DOES. Show me what it can do RIGHT NOW. Not in 5 years from now.

Re: Nintendo Comes Out On Top In Consumer Experience Poll

Toms_Den

They've always helped me quickly and very friendly! I love their consumer support, I send my broken stuff in, and get it back in less than a week! Fantastic! I guess it's because their repair center is an hour from my place but I love Nintendo's support. Miles better than Xbox's. Oh my goodness it's HORRIBLE OVER THERE.
