Re: Braid: Anniversary Edition Sales Have Been "Utterly Terrible", Says Creator

SvenBTB

I mean the thing is, Braid had been available on Steam for forever now. I liked it when I played it, and I still own it. Why should I repurchase it just to play the game again when I have it? Now multiply that out for this remaster's target audience, and add in that all new players have so many more choices for indies on Steam and other platforms. To people who haven't played it, I imagine it looks really generic to them, and the trailer doesn't do much to pitch it an what makes it unique.

Tl;Dr yeah no ***** it didn't sell

Re: Poll: Are You Ready To Move On From The Switch?

SvenBTB

"hearing an official confirmation from the firm that, yes, it's real and it's on the way, gives our ongoing hypothesizing some degree of validity."

You mean yelling "Switch 2 is coming this year honest guys" every year for the last 5 years and posting about every "leak" and rumor that comes up every single month is suddenly "validated" because they gave the extremely obvious news of "yes we are going to release another system at some point"? Is that for real what you're saying right now?

Re: Talking Point: amiibo Were First Revealed 10 Years Ago Today, And We Still Want More

SvenBTB

"And we want more". Do we though? When was the last time we saw something REALLY cool done with Amiibo? Wolf Link in BotW? You're very much the minority, author. I see used Amiibo at used game stores all the time, and I see literally no one online talking about them. They're neat, I have mine and I like them, and they're nice collectibles. But I'm not planing on getting more. They take up lots of space, and their in-game use is either gatekeeping content or trivially pointless, neither being great options. There's nothing wrong with wanting to collect them, but we really don't need them to continue.

Re: Talking Point: 'Remake' Vs. 'Remaster' - What's Your Definition?

SvenBTB

Remaster: The same exact game (as in, its at the core a port), but with better resolution, sound quality, frame rate, ect. Sometimes new models or animations or other fixes. Ex: Final Fantasy X and X2 HD

Remake: A fully new recreation of the original game, using minimal to none of the assets or code of the original. This can be something with lots of changes and new features, such as Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, or be shot for shot nearly identical, like Super Mario RPG or Links Awakening or Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster (yes, these were all total recreations)

Reimagining, which this article should have included, is when an original game is used as a jumping off point to create something entirely different. Ex Resident Evil 2 and 3

Re: Talking Point: Should 'Third' Pokémon Games Make A Comeback?

SvenBTB

This is the worst possible take. Yes, Ultra SuMo DOES count as a 3rd version. Yes, there's proof that a Pokemon Z WAS being developed but that's not what Legends ZA will be. And lastly, no, we absolutely do not need them to sell us a 3rd version game at $60 that's the same thing with a battle tower slapped on. The new dlc/ season pass model is SO much better, we get entirely new areas and stories and more Pokemon to catch at a fraction of the price. Why tf would you WANT to buy a $60 game instead?

Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility

SvenBTB

This is such a non-take. Very long winded way to say "maybe it'll have it, maybe not!"

With how much of a push the Switch has had on digital sales compared to the Wii and the Wii U, it makes total sense to make the next system backwards compatible. People will want to be able to carry over their existing libraries and easily access them, and there's really no reason why that shouldn't be the case. Especially since Microsoft and Sony both did it, it would look pretty bad for Nintendo to NOT do it.

Re: Soapbox: It's Time For A Zelda 1 Remake, Please

SvenBTB

1. There IS a Zelda 1 remake, it's on Satellaview.
2. BOTW already DOES take the concept of Zelda 1 and modernize it. There are no dungeons, sure, but so what? The emotion and feeling of exploring/discovery are the important parts and they're the same.
3. No thanks. I'd rather them make more NEW games, we don't "need" a Zelda 1 remake. It's readily available to play on NSO, and as someone who grew up on SNES and very recently played it, Zelda 1 still holds up just fine on it's own merits. You don't need Gen Z/Alpha to validate your personal nostalgia.
4. Slow news day, huh?
