This is the first Mario Kart game that my mother has played. And she's still playing it every day!
I have not yet tried Double Dash!! or DS. But this one remains the true one in the series by far. The visuals are clean (with a lead), the characters and the online is polished and the new (and retro) courses are simply excellent.
If you don't own this, get it. But be warned----there will be many hits and blue shells!
Anyway, I'm not sure about this game because I never played (mostly because I played the 3 Paper Mario games to death). But I'm not getting this unless if they fix the cable lead issue.
And why a 9/10? I think it deserves a 7/10 at least. The drifting was the one that ruined the whole thing for me. I end up crashing in the wall when I turn left or right. I also think it felt a bit too repetitive (maybe the Grand Prix cups). And the two courses, Wario Stadium and Rainbow Road, has got to be the two longest courses in any Mario Kart game! It took me about 5, 6 or 8 minutes. This has aged really badly.
Great review, Corbie. It still is a good game. But deserves a 7/10.
Ugh!! I've been waiting for 2 or 3 weeks to get this game, and yet I STILL haven't got it. Perhaps if I'll try and do the Connection Ambassador to get 500 points. Since I have 300, then it will be 300 + 500 = 800 points.
This game will probably feature about 3 episodes, each with 4 zones. I'm gonna get this game when it comes in Summer. But the WiiWare version may be the better choice for me (of course, the Wii does not feature HD. Even though there are still some pixels with the cable lead. But it's still a better buy for the WiiWare service). If you don't want to get this, that's fine. But I'm quite surprised most people want the WiiWare version over the PSN version for some reason.
I still haven't seen what the Special Stages look like in this game. I heard the Special Stages are quite similar to its Sega Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog 1 counterpart.
Oh well. Sonic 4 then. But please don't screw it up this time Sega!
New Super Mario Bros. Wii is definitely better than this game. Mostly because that's a proper 2D Mario platformer. While this one remains in paper form. Some or most of the characters in NSMBW are in a 3D rendering. I personally find NSMBW better than this game.
Just my opinion. No, don't flame me with hate posts, thank you.
I must do this again! But I need to finish Ocarina 100%!
This is my story here, so I'll tell anyway. Back in April '09, I wanted to get Ocarina of Time first before Majora's Mask came out in Europe (where I live). I decide I want to get a Wii points card from a shop and get both Majora's Mask and Streets of Rage 2 (but I got Streets of Rage 3 all thanks to my stupid sister) after I got OoT. I played Majora's Mask, and when I got to Clock Town, I looked up and WOW! That moon up in the sky about to crush Termina in about 3 days. I was scared by the freakiest moon because Majora's Mask is the darkest and scariest Zelda game in any history! Another thing? Is the 4 locations which is a swamp, an ice mountain, the great bay, and a canyon. When I was heading all my way to Southern Swamp, I had no idea where to go. But suddenly, I used the Ocarina tune (forgot the name again) to go back in time. But everything resetted! So now I had to start all over again! But when I was looking up on a guide, I finally figured out how to beat Majora's Mask and 100% done!
Oh yeah, about the ending, it's great the ending. Absolutely brilliant in any Zelda game.
Majora's Mask is one of the greatest (but weirdest) Zelda games. It's a pretty long and hard game. Please don't listen to all of those people out there who says it's too short and easy, it's not.
Anyways, if you have Ocarina and if you haven't got this game yet, go get it now. You won't be disappointed. I give this a perfect 10/10 score, along with Ocarina of Time.
Honestly, this game is too hard to get 100% done for me, I only beaten Majora's Mask 100%. But this one's too hard to do. Especially on the Master Quest version (since I don't have that one, but I'm not interested in it anymore, sadly).
EDIT: [May 16 2010] I've deleted the file because there was just one bug that prevents you from getting the Deku Nut Upgrade 2 after you become an adult. Oh well, I deleted the file already and I now need to start all over.
This has alot more replayability more than MKW. But I still don't think it's as good as Mario Kart. Maybe only the sense of speed and graphics that are twice better.
Aw man, it's really hard to choose which version of this should I get, since I have a Wii and PS3. If I go for the Wii version, then I would get much better controls using the Wii Remote held sideways. But if I get the PS3 version, then it'll feature HD goodness.
Not as good as Mario Kart Wii. The only thing that's better is the sense of speed and graphics. But still great.
I know it's a shame why the online has so many hackers, and the fact that it takes SO LONG to search for players that I'm needing to turn off my Wii console.
MKW online all the way! (Of course, that one has hackers as well.)
This is the very first news article on Nintendo Life way back in November 2005.
I actually came to this site as my first visit I think in December 2008. And when I was reading comments on Zelda: Majora's Mask, I decide that I wanted to create my account on June 1st, 2009. And to put random comments.
I also wanted my name to be changed to "Nintendogames1000". My other name was just plain stupid. But at least my newer name is better.
Oh well. I suppose it's your opinion anyway. But for me, the single player mode was excellent. I haven't even tried the multiplayer mode yet. So I don't know if that's more fun than single player mode.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Best Mario game EVAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No seriously, best Mario game ever.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
I still haven't seen the Hammer Brothers yet...
2 words - "must" and "have".
Re: Review: Super Mario Kart (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
Nevermind. Got the game already.

Re: Review: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)
This got a Gold on the Nintendo Channel. Simply a smash.
Re: Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Best. Game. Ever.
Re: Review: Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (Virtual Console / NES)
This game...
Too...
HARD!!!!!
Re: Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
Aw shucks! I still can't get past this game! Dang tough game.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
But still one of my favorites. Very hard and long.
Re: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Wow, a lot of comments. I'm the 250 commenter!
Anyway, I'm not sure about this game because I never played (mostly because I played the 3 Paper Mario games to death). But I'm not getting this unless if they fix the cable lead issue.
Re: Review: Axelay (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
@10/11
No way in heck am I gonna switch my country settings. I have a bad feeling it may delete my Wii points. But I'm not happy with that.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
@40
I feel that Sunshine lacked something. Like the Blue Coin collecting. But I might need to redo Sunshine.
Re: Review: Mario Kart 64 (Virtual Console / Nintendo 64)
This is the worst one in the Mario Kart series.

Re: Mario Kart 64
This is one of the worst Mario Kart games that Shigeru has created. 2/5 stars.

Re: Talking Point: The Virtual Console's PAL Problem
And yes, I would like Nintendo to fix SMB's music running exactly the same as in NTSC.
Re: Talking Point: The Virtual Console's PAL Problem
Weird...
I would have thought it would run okay in 50Hz. But my opinion has changed.
Now I know why 50Hz just damages the speed.

Re: Super Turrican 2
No release date for Europe? What a shame.
Re: Axelay
It's just a shame this one still hasn't come out yet in Europe. Edit: Okay, not really. But my guess is in Summer 2010, maybe.

I think I know what you mean. You mean to combine the other sentences into one comment and delete the other? I already deleted about 1 or 2 comments.

Re: Reggie: 3DS is Our Next Handheld Platform
Already have the DS Lite. No thanks.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Nintendo should really add a level editor and/or online play. That would give us alot of replayability. Come on Miyamoto, add those two to this game!
Re: Review: Animal Crossing: City Folk (Wii)
I'm not really a big Animal Crossing fan. My sister only played Wild World on her DS. And she wants either AC for GCN, or this one for Wii.
I don't know why but my sister does not like Mario. She only plays Mario Kart Wii for somewhat reason.
Re: Review: Virtua Fighter 2 (Virtual Console / Sega Mega Drive)
I first played this on Megadrive Collection on my PSP. Not really that good at all, avoid it at all costs.
Re: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing
This has alot more replayability more than MKW. But I still don't think it's as good as Mario Kart. Maybe only the sense of speed and graphics that are twice better.
Re: Mario Kart Wii
Great Mario Kart game. My sister, brother and my mother played this for over 700 hours!
Re: Sonic Spinball
By far the worst one on the Genesis. 2/5 stars.
Re: Sonic 3D Blast
I only played the PC version back in the 80s/90s. Never played this version in my life.
And yes, this version is the worst one. The soundtrack was changed. The ones in the PC and Saturn versions were much better.
Re: Sonic Chaos
Not really a great game on the Master System at all. I don't recommend you get this on the VC. Stick to the 16-bit ones instead.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Ah, the most hardest Sonic on Master System/GameGear. The final boss was so hard, I lost so many lives on that boss!
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Not as good as Sonic 1 on Megadrive. Mainly because the 16-bit console had blast processing (fast). So I personally prefer the 16-bit Sonic over this.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1
@Earendel68
I agree. Nintendo should really make a Super Mario Bros. 4 game for us 2D Mario fans. Maybe sooner...
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Nevermind, I recently got Ultimate Collection for the PS3 earlier.
Sega has done a very good job on this game. 5/5 stars for sure.

I might as well get the Wii version, maybe...

Re: Review: Super Mario Sunshine (GameCube)
Great game. I still can't beat this 100% yet. Maybe a redo will be fine for me.
I give this a 9.0/10.
Re: Review: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
super-nintendo: The boss battles and the real difficulty of Sunshine make it so rewarding.
I personally agree. But I'm stuck at about 98 Shines grabbed. I might want to go back and redo the whole game again.
Re: Review: New Super Mario Bros. (DS)
@WarriorCatFreak
This is the best game on the DS to date! How can you not like the single player mode?
Re: Happy "Nintendo Life" Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!
Re: Review: Streets of Rage 3 (Virtual Console / Sega Mega Drive)
Streets of Rage 2 is better.
Re: Review: Streets of Rage 2 (Virtual Console / Sega Mega Drive)
What a game. Simply far better than Streets of Rage 3, IMO.
Re: Review: Streets of Rage (Virtual Console / Sega Mega Drive)
Good game. But just not as good as the other 2.
And it's just a shame why this one doesn't have any comments though.
Great review, Dazza.
Re: Streets of Rage 3
Great game, but not as good as the superior Streets of Rage 2, IMO.
