Re: Soapbox: I'm Causing The Slow Death Of Gaming Magazines, And It Hurts

I honestly haven't really enjoyed gaming magazines since the death of ONM. I used to get so excited at the prospect of the new monthly issue, and then, once it delivered, I'd head back upstairs to read through every last page. Nowadays, even though I occasionally buy EDGE, I never have that same sense of excitement anymore. I'll flick through it, maybe read a few of the articles I'm really interested in, but I'll leave it at that. I don't know if that's due to my change in age, or whether it's just thanks to the rise of online 'magazines', but whatever it is, I do sorely miss that feeling of excitement.

It's fun in a mindless sense, and I can understand the popularity, but I just think Fortnite is a straight down the middle 5/10 for me. That's mostly down to random elements and the awful building controls (I've played for around 10 hours on 3 separate platforms and they still don't feel right for me), but I also really despise the lacklustre combat. There's nothing really there (other than building) which makes it stand out, and I just get bored quickly.

I do like the art style and world design though. Oh, and it's free, so my complaints aren't much of an issue.
