Re: Switch 2 Storms Towards Its Forecast Target With 17.37 Million Units Sold

@Scoopz

Your point stands in irrelevance. And to be honest I wasn't paying much attention to your replies.

End of the day the Metroid series is not as big a deal to the gaming community as online discourse would lead many to believe. And you can understand the term "not as big a deal" in any way you want.

Quibble over words used all you want but that is the truth of it.

Nothing else to add here on the topic so have a good one.

Nintendo are just reporting on the consoles sold to retailers which is all they can do which is also factually the amount of consoles they sold. As it always has been done.

You want to apply some mad conspiracy to it because everyone you see on the street isn't carrying one around then that is on you.

What I will say is retailers don't buy millions of consoles to sit in stock rooms or on stores shelves just to not be sold. That's not how business works. So again, common sense.

This is such a reach.

Explain why after the 100+ million selling Wii there was never any sales figures like this recorded for Wii U then. Surely the retailers would want to stock up after the popularity of the Wii?

Or maybe it was because retailers weren't buying them from Nintendo because the customers weren't buying them off them? Of course it was.

This is the only metric the likes of Nintendo and Sony can use and they get their sales from retailers.

Use a bit of common sense.

No these are how many consoles are sold through to retailers (which is the sale to Nintendo) or customers directly through their own websites.

You aren't revealing any brand new information as this is how Sony and Microsoft also get their figures. Not that Microsoft bothers to reveal theirs anymore.

And retailers wouldn't be buying this many consoles if they weren't selling them on to customers, would they?

No you're first comment absolutely was trying to take aim at people, such as myself, who said this game specifically was a cash grab. Not sure why you are trying to deny it.

And as I said in my first comment it absolutely was a cash grab. It was a barebones HD remaster farmed out to a third party studio and Nintendo were charging more for it than the original game cost. How could it not be considered a cash grab?

I love Nintendo but they can be absolute chancers at times and this release a year ago was one of them. You can be a fan of a games company but still call out their nonsense.

You're first comment asked "where are you now"

I'm here and I maintain my stance.

"mug" is a gullible, foolish, or easily deceived person.

A well known term in UK been around for decades.

Also for someone apparently old it seems incredibly petty and childish to try and use an update to a year old game (which you could not have predicted at the time) to try and claim a win over people who rightfully called the original release of the game a cashgrab.

@DashKappei

Quite a few times with Fifa/EA FC over the years.

But if you think I'm gonna trawl through every week of the last few years to prove it to you then you can dream on.

Edit: Out of my own interest had a quick look. First week I randomly picked: Wed Feb 12th 2025. There you go.

@AnnoyingFrenzy

Exactly. None of the Xenoblade games have broken 2 million sales bar no.2 but Nintendo is all in on that franchise. Not every game series has to be a sales juggernaut, just provide another option to complement the juggernauts and make the platform feel worthwhile.

Now time to give us another Wave Race, Star Fox and F-Zero too.
