Neat, won't be too long now until we Europeans/Australians get in on the action. I'm intrigued to a few titles, namely some of the launch selection here and Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People (which apparently isn't out for a few months yet).
Being a female gamer, soccer games aren't necessarily something that I can get involved in on a frequent basis. I admit, Mario Strikers Charged seems easy enough to pick up and play but to say it has just as much depth as various other Mario multiplayer titles is a blatant lie, which could possibly speak volumes for actual soccer enthusiasts.
"I won't be getting this, and I still hope they'll be releasing "Tetris Attack" one day. With it, they managed to merge a good game with some Mario characters and environments that everybody could enjoy, not just Pokémon fans or little girls."
Look, just because a game has a Mario backdrop to it doesn't automatically make it a great game for everyone to enjoy (case in point: Mario Strikers). Besides, from what I've seen, this title seems to offer more gameplay depth than the other titles in the Tetris Attack/Puzzle League line.
I know I may be getting a little defensive here, but I don't understand why people see games as good/bad purely by the cosmetics.
Sharecrow, they usually get critical acclaim for a reason - most games that do end up being really good anyway. It's alright to disregard such titles if you feel that they won't be your cup of tea, but to shrug it off purely on its premise is another thing altogether.
You reminded me of when I was a teen, hogging Sony's disc system consoles and showing disbelief at Nintendo over-pushing Mario and not doing much original with said mascot (which seemed to happen up until I shelled out on New Super Mario Bros on the DS, if only because I wanted a fun platformer to take with me on vacation in 2006). I still honestly believe that the whole "saving Peach from Bowser" debacle has grown old, but if there's anything I learnt from that experience, it's thus: Mario games are generally about fun.
Having said that, you too can give Pokemon a chance; the only reasons why you wouldn't potentially do so is if you're not all that keen on the puzzle genre with this title in particular. Remember what most of us said: the only thing that puts this in the Pokemon series is the graphics, nothing more and nothing less.
I'm not worried about that, I'm more worried about people constantly screaming for higher-tier first party titles on Nintendo consoles. Sure, they're great and all, but can't we just look for new stuff every now and again? I'd personally be tired if I was given the same thing almost all the time.
No matter what the general opinion regarding Pokemon Puzzle League is, I might as well say this: it's about time there's another decent N64 title here (Hah, now I have to wait a few weeks for us English folk to get it too. Oh well.)
I never knew Earthbound was neglected in Europe >.> But still, it better show up on our side of the channel and all just as well as it does in America. Heck, there were all sorts of great games sent in for the SNES that we European folk never got, and I'd say the same thing to Chrono Trigger and Kirby's Dreamland 3 as well.
No Puyo Puyo 2? Disappointing import week, after all that build-up. I'm not interested in any of the three titles myself, though I can't help but think others might.
I've got an eye out for both Earthbound and Majora's Mask here. Other than that, I'm better off waiting for whatever else could potentially come around the corner.
Unfortunately, given my experience with MacDonald's in the past, I'd rather take the other, but you do have a point that there should be a way to test out those games that they're unsure about. I think the only option so far is to emulate them for an hour or two and see what you think; if you like it, then go ahead and buy it
People tend to be right in that people often go for stuff that they have already played. But I took a chance with titles like Shining Force, Mystical Ninja, Kirby 64 and the like and I feel happy to try something new every now and again. Still, I can understand why the top 5 is as it is, having experienced them in some form or other (and yes, Mario 3 was the first VC download I ever had; probably also counts as something "new" although I did already check out the All-Stars version via emulation). Why Cruisin' USA is in there is beyond me, but it goes to show the general consensus of a hardcore Nintendo gamer.
Excellent, you guys finally got River City Ransom Though I merely emulated that one and still need to make the investment on the VC, it's a great game and should be a neat choice to the fighting gamer in question. Get in there!
Now, I hope for great justice that you guys get the two Mega Man games soon; I feel sheepish being among the many European gamers with MM2 on my Wii O.o
Ok, for the record, Kirby 64 was NOT the worst game in the Kirby series. That title is best reserved for Squeak Squad and its heavily piss-easy status to it. People have overlooked that so bad
Similarly, people are going to overlook Phantasy Star 3 as well. Myself, having experienced it through emulation a few years back (while still yet needing to experience the other prior titles in the series), I actually found it to be good fun to mess around with and so forth. It'll certainly help my drought of Mega Drive games on my VC, I give you that now.
Though I'm happy enough with my Classic Controller/GameCube Controller combo, this looks interesting; makes me wonder how it would manage games other than SNES titles tho
I too am saving Wii points for this, but not Superstar. Maybe aside from 100% The Great Cave Offensive, there isn't much taxing for me to accomplish beyond an afternoon of gameplay.
Still, there was no sign of a European release, so this worries me. I hope Nintendo do the right thing and offer it to us across the pond as well as your NTSC-loving game players
I never really took interest in Tetris DS since I seemed content enough with the first two instalments, but this will do well to get a lot of people involved beyond just the old gameboy phase, even maybe the elders of the household. I'll be keeping an eye on this one
To whoever thought that we can't accept the "1 game if it's an N64 game" comment... personally I feel the VC in general NEEDS more N64 games; Nintendo have a colossal back catalog with that and there's only 12 games out at the moment. That's telling me something alright. >.>
Either way, likewise, I'll be able to make a future advancement on this (still got a couple of games I need to finish). Cheers.
CobraCommander, you asked why you think Kirby isn't cool in comparison to "fast robot action". It's all a matter of taste. And you shouldn't dismiss something just because it's kiddish - if they provide enough of a challenge then that's gift enough.
Heck, I know someone who's been a hardcore gamer for years, and he felt that Halo provides very little challenge while Kirby 64 (heck, even Dreamland 3!) are more amazing pinnacles of retro gaming. I personally would prefer to look into Kirby 64 myself (especially since there's not much choice N64-wise out here) but I'm still happy enough with what I have.

Puyo Puyo 2 AND the original Metal Slug in one update? Hell yes, this has made me one happy camper

I'm just happy we're getting demos full stop. Sony and Microsoft haven't been as lucky recently :
But still, two new features coming and a final release date for Brawl? Cue me in!
