Re: Why April Is A Massive Month For the Virtual Console

Quimby

@ Charco - actually it does have GC controller support and it is easily the best available setup on it (the rest are just retarded. Shake the controller to throw a grenade? come on)
Although I will buy the VC Metal Slugs so I can play with a mate without fighting over who uses the crappy wii-mote (I only have 1 GC controller)
The GC is perfect for it, having a massive green SHOOT button and a conviently placed red JUMP.

Re: Virtual Boy Confirmed for Virtual Console

Quimby

I heard that if you download Super Street Fighter 2: New Challengers, beat the game on full stars and enter your name as bertnernie that Akuma is unlocked... Although I'm not sure how this is relevant.

Re: Virtual Boy Confirmed for Virtual Console

Quimby

Oh, come on now, can't you guys just go with it? I'm trying to dream of sweet vb mediocrity and your all so untrusting. VCReviews wouldn't lie to us like that... Not on March 31st. Next stop Octopus on Game & Watch. Man that would rock.

Re: Hudson announces WiiWare lineup, Alien Crush sequel

Quimby

@manicfatty - In case you don't bother reading the lostwinds page again before it's deleted, my email address is RBG.ME@Hotmail.com, Email me, because I kinda feel guilty about clogging up these posts with our random banter, but I do so enjoy it...
Hmm... I just jumped on my laptop I usualy only check this site on my Wii) to check out the forums here (not for me, these pages are more interesting) and I realised my avatar looks like crap on a pc for some reason...might have to change it soon. Maybe Ken masters from Street Fighter or something - But I do love my Darkwing

Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - April 2008

Quimby

I am so very totally (to the MAX) considering Metal Slug, as although I own the Wii compilation, it doesnt allow for classic controllers. (why, damn you, why?) and I only own one GC controller, so no co-op. (the Wiimote controller setting are sacrelige).
Now, if it were MS2, then it would be an easy choice. DL immediately!!!

Re: LostWinds: One to Watch on WiiWare?

Quimby

@ Pegasus - Yeah sorry mate, but forums bore me. I figured of news posts Im not doing any real harm, as they get deleted when enough new articles are posted. However, if you catch me doing it on a game page (like with King's knight ) pull me up on it and I'll delete it.
@ manicfatty - My email is RBG.ME@Hotmail.com, please feel free to msg me so we dont end up clogging these pages. Same 4 any VCreviews regulars, I love anything to do with games and can chat about it for ever. If you spam me or sign me up for porn, I'll come after you...
@ All - sorry for my long post with bad grammar & probable spelling errors, but I am quite drunk (Its Friday) so if it bothers you, feel free to blow me.

Re: Block Breaker Deluxe Coming to WiiWare

Quimby

We need to grab gameloft, whack them about the head with a newspaper and say "No! No, thats a bad Gameloft. This is not a mobile phone!" and then grab thier collective heads and rub thier noses in it so they learn.
'It puts this notion in the bin, or else it gets the hose again.'

Re: LostWinds: One to Watch on WiiWare?

Quimby

@ Starwolf - hmm. stupid us not being japanese, I want my Wiiware. and my Nintendo for that matter.
Also re: the edit button - what's your point?
@tim - Mutant League Hockey was ok, but I just can't get that excited over a game that shares so much with Disney on Ice (not the one where all the disney characters take ice and get naked in the park because of the ants under thier skin - because that was hilarious)

Re: International Karate

Quimby

@rossi - thats because the video is a run through. The guy playing is rather good at it. From memory, the AI was tough enough for you to take weeks of practice to get to mt. Fugi.

Re: Block Breaker Deluxe Coming to WiiWare

Quimby

@manicfatty, I'm up for that Shining force idea. I decided no atari, I remembered that bat'n'ball games died out for a reason...
THEY SUCK!!!
Oh crap, damn this site lol, it's 4 am already. Bed time, nite all.

Re: LostWinds: One to Watch on WiiWare?

Quimby

Yeah, I saw that breakout game Damo posted and my crapometer went off. I mean it may be a good game made by real fans of the genre, but it looks like a game I could make on my lonesome in about 4-5 hours...

Re: LostWinds: One to Watch on WiiWare?

Quimby

Lol - I prefer rugby league myself, but the Xbox rugby game was ace.
FYI - In case you are unfamiliar with aussie slang;
tossing= wanking= beating off= masturbating, I just realised my platypus joke makes no sense otherwise.

Re: LostWinds: One to Watch on WiiWare?

Quimby

To try and stay somewhat on topic (mainly so Dazza doesn't yell at me again )
I sincerely hope this game sets a benchmark so companies looking a Wiiware realise they can't just pump out half arsed crap to pawn off cheap, like an extention of those woeful mobile phone games. Lets get creative people!

Re: LostWinds: One to Watch on WiiWare?

Quimby

@manicfatty - I was mainly teasing the poms but I was refering to Rugby League, Rugby Union, Cricket, Platypus throwing (lol I think platypus 'tossing' is illegal - and rather kinky) .etc (not AFL as that is gay)
I'm not surprised you are nieve to them, as you yanks don't really play many (if any) of these sports as far as I know.
Gridiron (aka American football) is Ok, but it's a bit slow and the full on armor they wear is a laughing stock over here. (if you wear any kind of padding playing footy here, you are regarded as a pansy )

Re: LostWinds: One to Watch on WiiWare?

Quimby

Oh, and I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this already, but is there a Euro launch date set for Wiiware? Or even rumored?
I hate that Nintendo hates Europe (and it feels bizzare calling Australia europe, it is in a totally different hemisphere. Also we can see the sun from here and are good at sport (real sport, soccer doesn't count).)

Re: LostWinds: One to Watch on WiiWare?

Quimby

Yeah, this game sounds like a definate download for me, as long as it keeps going in the right direction. I want to see enticing and rewarding exploration, stylish ways to attack enemies (like using the wind to boost you over them and then slamming down, or sucking them in towards your character and attacking at just the right moment for a risky, but devastating blow) and maybe a system of cross-pollenating plants to make seeds with different effects. Wait, no forget everything I just said... I want to make this game myself. Stay away. lol
Also, if only we all had more storage space. Grumble grumble. Come on Nintendo. Rabble, rabble rabble .etc lol

Re: King's Knight

Quimby

Lol Dazza - righto mate, points been made Kings night isn't for everyone, but it's an interesting, quirky, but slightly broken game.

Re: Master System Hitting US 'Soon', 400 Points Per Game

Quimby

Ah... just think about it. cheap games, most of which are SEGA inhouse so no licensing issues of most good games, and small download size. mmmm... Sonic Chaos, Sonic Labrynth, Golden Axe Warrior, Rescue Mission (Come on gun support), Pengo (a Must have!), Super Off Road, Rampage (the last good version)... Oh Yeah, now to play the waiting game.

Re: Japanese WiiWare Service – GO! GO! GO!

Quimby

I know a lot of people were complaining about half arsed retro remakes of 32bit games dominating the xbox live service, but I would love to see wiiware get some too (preferable whole arsed versions).
Bring on Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Cop, House of the Dead 1 (the best one), Hogs of War, oh sooo many titles... ah, I guess I'm just dreaming as I don't see a usb HD 4 Wii or a Saturn Channel on VC coming anytime soon... sigh.
Damn you Damo, your post made me sad.

Re: King's Knight

Quimby

@ Damo - Yes you can basically say anything you like, but my point is that if the goverment wanted to, they could censor you. Unlike USA we have no constitutional right to free speech. Luckily our respective goverments are pretty easy going now compared to say 200 years ago.
@manicfatty - Dreamcast rocks all over any other console of its generation, mainly because of it's lack of piracy protection. The homebrew scene is brilliant and for the price of a CD-R, Beats of Rage? Yes Please btw Ronald McDonalds Global Gladiators holds many fond memories for me (I think I'll go play it now on my DC MD emu lol) although like many games from that era, it is very dated. (Umm. Kings knight is starting to wear thin now, but I will still dl it when it comes Euroside.)

Re: King's Knight

Quimby

@ manicfatty lol. No, we don't have freedom of speech here technically, as we are still under Queens rule. As for me being harsh, (If the word whiners is a bit harsh I could use wankers lol) it just irks me that people slam games like this because of the fact that the producers made a 'better' (sic) game at some point. If I didn't have my dreamcast (yay!) with my emulators, I would never have played this game due to the reviews. I have become quite addicted to this game now and will download it on it's euro release. IMO this game is exactly what the VC is for - An obscure and enjoyable (if only cheap fun) little piece of gaming history. It is a breath of fresh arse in a medium crammed full of stale, old, and tired space shooters and drab, bog standard platformers.

Re: King's Knight

Quimby

I don't know what your all bitching about. This game represents exactly what is lacking in games today... experimentation & imagination. Square took a risk and tried something a little different and it didn't quite work out. I personally quite like this game (After reading the review I played it on my dreamcast nes emulator) and I could name piles of nes games that sucked more. (but I won't) You know what? I'm going to download it, just to spite all of you whiners who hate it simply because its not ff. Ps. Final Fantasy sucks anyway...

Re: Virtual Console Top 20 - March 2008 (EU)

Quimby

In relation to Adamant's post, I would love to see a talking point style forum on this site just to see the top 5 favorite games that members have downloaded. It would be interesting to see how our gaming tastes differ.

Re: Pokemon Snap

Quimby

Man I love this game. I wasn't really into the whole Pokemon movement but this game is genius. I really REALLY hope we will get the Jap only sequel translated. I'd pay 2000 points for it without blinking. Come on Big N, help me out here... I ... love you... (touches self) mmmmm

Re: Yoshi's Story

Quimby

I agree whole hearted with Lurch. This is the only VC I have regretted buying. Its not that it's a bad game, it just doesn't grab my interest. When I was playing I felt I was just going through the motions and was detached (in a bad way lol). To be honest I just bought it out of love of Yoshi's Island...

Re: Paper Mario

Quimby

@2hip2beskware again.
Sorry I missunderstood your question. TTYD is direct sequel and very close to PM64 but TTYD rocks SOOO much harder. Thats why newbies should play PM64 on VC first & then track down TTYD on GC. PM64 is an awesome game, but TTYD leaves it in the dust.

Re: Paper Mario

Quimby

@2hip2beskware this is very similar, but don't be thrown when you can't use your timed button presses to do extra damage... that comes a little while in.
To everyone else who doesn't own this already, DOWNLOAD IT NOW! And then buy the GC sequel Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door because it IS THE best game on GC.
Oh, be warned though, Super Paper Mario is warm sloppy dog poo.

Re: Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting

Quimby

This is by far the best Street Fighter on the VC. A lot of people prefer Super because of the extra characters (who weren't all that great anyway... DeeJay {shudder}), but there were also some small changes made to the gameplay that tip the balance for me. And I don't mean the loss of speed, I'm more refering to changes like when Ken uses his tornado kick mid air he now just spins as he falls limply to the ground as apposed to performing it properly .etc

Re: Mario's Super Picross

Quimby

This is the game I got the most excited about on the VC. For me, there was no descision to be made about its purchase, it IS a must have. If I had to spend eternity with only 3 games, I would have this, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, & Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. Easy.

Re: Virtual Console Top 20 - March 2008 (EU)

Quimby

@ Dazza: I reckon your right re: Op Wolf. A lot of people would have good memories of it and thought how bad could it be? or weren't smart enough to check for a review first. Which is why I love this site...

Re: Virtual Console Top 20 - March 2008 (EU)

Quimby

What you all seem to be forgetting is that this list is likely only from this month or year and that would explain the absence of sonic 2, F-Zero and other brilliant titles which were available beforehand. Using the same logic though, the immortal Mario 3 must be raking in a fortune for Nintendo as it would have sold solidly since it's release in both (probably all three) regions. (I recently gifted it and the internet channel to my 7 & 4 yo brothers after having 1000 points in reserve for several months of uninteresting releases. They're stoked)
