I just thought the first game was a LOT of run all the way to the right, waggle the controller, now go all the way left. REPEAT for every level which all look the same. To be honest, even with a few different "moves", this looks the same. How bout a boss fight or a level that looks different?
Lost Winds was a huge disappointment. BORING! This one looks to be improved, but the first one was terrible. If you disagree you have WAY too much time on your hands.
I agree with Machu and Motang, took em long enough. They can enjoy another month of Sony and Microsoft kicking their butt thanks to the price drop. I was waiting on that PS3 drop, Nintendo better show me some good games quick cuz Madden on the Wii stinks.
Refer to the review page for this game. No offense, but the reviewer didn't even play last year's version.
I think it's extremely naive to complain about a yearly release of Madden, where have you been? The series is approaching 20 years! The fundamental problems with the Wii version are the lack of depth (seemingly a penalty for true fans who are Wii owners), and the motion controls. Nothing sucks worse than missing a wide open receiver because the controller picked up the wrong motion! An accidental lob, bullet, or wrong receiver can cost you a game. Rather than just having a Gamecube configuration, I'd like to see the responsiveness from Tiger Woods motion controls. Seems like EA is lazy when it comes to making Madden on the Wii. They get what they deserve until they show up with their A game.
Well, I would hate to think that the target market for Madden has changed to "casual football fans". It's the #1 football simulator and always has been. You can either have a complex game for hardcore fans which HAS to push realism, or a "casual" game with simple plays and only a few options. The later is what games like "Blitz" are for, NOT Madden. If you really know football, you want the full experience, which is NOT for casual gamers. Just seems like the big developers ruin their chances of making a decent game to please Nintendo. And again, why aren't the controls getting BETTER? Supermarioman, the scores should be getting higher every year, not lower....look what EA did with Tiger 2010. That's a great use of the technology and the game got better every year after 07.
Punchout is another good example. Your only chance is to use the 2 button NES controls. If anyone is gonna post that they prefer the motion controls, please post your video of beating Donkey Kong on the Wii fit board.
Another point to add is how good the game is on other consoles. I am a Nintendo fan and always will be, but I find it frustrating that the system has been around for as long as it has and they still can't get the motion controls right on games where it matters (Madden is an excellent example). The one feature that is separating them from the pack (motion controls) is turning out to be a little disappointing when it fails year after year with the third party staples.
Perhaps you should consult someone who is "into" American football to review the game. Would you guys trust a review on a cricket game from an American? As a fan of football and this series, I would say your review is a little generous. Did you even play previous versions? This title is HUGE, you guys need to find someone who is passionate about the game and the series to review it.
I agree with some of what Calculon is saying, and I don't consider myself a "hater". Overall, the game is really hard to justify for $50. As an avid disc golfer (not Frisbee golf, the sport is called disc golf), it's hokey to use frisbees. The physics are just not realistic at all. I'd like to see a disc golf game developed by the Hot Shots team. Sports Resort is fun, but highly overrated as a full price title.
Yeah yeah yeah, back to the matter at hand (does ANYBODY edit this board---STAY ON POINT!)
As for the "shock" that Nintendo would let consumers down, COME ON!!! We're eventually gonna pay out the nose for a storage problem that was A) inevitable and B) just another BS Nintendo scam. They hardly address the issue at E3. Personally, paying $10 for an old game that I already own the rights to is BS. Why would anybody think Nintendo gives a care about disappointing people in the short term?
NINTENDO MANTRA: Give them one good game early, sell it to consumer with good marketing, make a bunch of add-on upgrades necessary to buy, repackage the classics again and again, and laugh all the way to the bank. Stupid Americans buy it again and again.
All Nintendo cares about is the bottom like, just like anybody else. If it's more profitable to release 2 turds a week rather than 3, of course they will. They want the profits to be as high as possible as long as possible....and so would you if it were your company. I hate the way they do it because they don't act with the consumers' interest in mind, but it's kept them alive which means we still get to enjoy new mario games i suppose.
Why would anyone be surprised? Nintendo controls it completely. They even control what sales figures they report. Wake up folks! Of course they want you to think that Mario 3 is the #1 download and of course they're going to limit the crap out of 3rd party titles. It's called positioning.
Oh boy, can I really have a DEMO of a bunch of 8 bit games that I don't want to buy? How bout just giving us the games for the $50 we pay? They're obsolete. If you want them, you already own them. Instead of advertising space, why don't you just package mine with an additional character, something people actually WANT.
Mario: I wanted to be She-Ra, instead Mom dresses me as a fat Italian immigrant plumber and hands me a pumpkin turd. Nice. Hey where the hell is MY moustache by the way?
