I'm of the opinion that one of the smartest things Nintendo could do is port every major Wii U exclusive title to the Switch. The Switch is, in a way (and I think most of us could agree) a bit of a "mulligan" for the Wii U. A Bayonetta 1+2 port to Switch would introduce the franchise to people who jumped in with the Switch. I really hope Mario Kart 8 Deluxe does well so Nintendo does something similar with Smash Bros, Mario 3D World, Bayonetta 1+2, The Wonderful 101, and other big Wii U titles. It's not like doing so would cannibalize Wii U sales, since, frankly (since the system is discontinued) there aren't any.
Yes, the Switch needs new, exclusive titles. But there's a whole library of Wii U games that could use the exposure of being on the Switch. Nobody loses here.
@Moshugan I kind of read it that way, too. Yokoi is known as the "Father of the Game Boy" and assuming this is true, its winning design was someone else's idea.
I know I'm in the minority, but I was never all that excited about the prospect of a new collect-a-thon platformer similar to Banjo-Kazooie or Donkey Kong 64. Just wasn't really my style.
I would love to see something like a new Blast Corps, though.
It's an effective name. The BIGGEST problem with the Wii U, why it failed at retail the way it did, was because consumers were confused about the U and what exactly it was. Nintendo did a poor job explaining the Wii U was not simply a new controller for the existing Wii but a new console.
I always felt like the best thing Nintendo could have done for the NX project was abandoning the Wii name and starting over. There will be zero confusion with the Nintendo Switch-- everyone will know this is a new system. Nintendo is effectively "starting over" and doesn't have to be a victim of its own marketing.
@Bflury The last part you said, about using the processing power of multiple systems, I just wanted to comment on that.
I remember pretty recently reading a patent Nintendo filed that was basically exactly that-- the more items that are "connected" together, the more performance is increased. I don't know if that applies to using multiple Switch systems or even the Switch itself but Nintendo has a patent for something like that which implies it's on their minds. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.
I believe we've basically seen all that can really be done with the dual-screen concept. I'm overall apathetic to seeing the concept go, since the Switch's concept is something I find more intriguing.
I think crapping out a new game every year is what's causing a lot of the trouble. How can you make a better game when you're barely giving yourself time to see how people responded to the LAST one? I mean, look at Nintendo. Nintendo has occasionally had franchises SKIP an entire generation just so the games would stay high quality. Metroid skipped the N64 era because the hardware wasn't quite right for the experience they were envisioning. It's hard to question Nintendo's logic since Metroid Prime ended up being one of the best games of its generation. Also look at Nintendo's 3D Mario games. The closest thing to a "low point" in 3D Mario games was Sunshine, but that game averaged 9/10s. The bar is so high for Nintendo a "disappointing" 3D Mario game is still better than 95% of the stuff on the market.
I think Dyack is still in denial over the reason why the original Eternal Darkness turned out as good as it did.
ED was brilliant because Nintendo was riding the absolute crap out of Silicon Knights to make sure it was quality, even involving Miyamoto in its development. Without someone more involved overseeing the product, SK turned out stuff like Too Human (okay but not great) and X-Men Destiny (pure garbage).

Re: Video: Punishing Drop Test Reveals The Nintendo Switch Is Tougher Than It Looks
Another ultra-durable Nintendo system.
Not surprised that thing took a ton of damage before it decided to stop working.

@NotBatman_01 She's in Runner2. My favorite character bar none.

$250 is about what I expect.
