Re: Feature: Staff Memories of the Wii Launch

Mercury9

Had my Wii since launch. Literally jumped up off it's stand after spitting out Brawl. Got it fixed. Years later, same thing. On both occasions, the lens had blew out.
I haven't used the VC as much as much as I should have. I could count on both hands the number of my downloads.

In the years after it's launch my use of it has dwindled so much I still like it but, I don't know. I've grown detached from it. I had dozens of games for it and It was always online but now it just sleeps beside the TV waiting for it's big brother to take over.

I'm mostly about handheld gaming nowadays. I loved the craziness at the beginning but when it settled down, for me at least I lost interest with the casual direction Nintendo went in. But it has it's AAA classics and gave me some great memories

Thank you Wii. You came. You saw. You conquered.

Re: Japanese 3DS Television Service To Be Cancelled

@3Dangerous3Dash
It's my opinion is all
Could 3DS even handle Youtube? Remember DSiTube? That was insanely basic but still ran like a relic.

You can't beat the tech in which something was originally designed for. I'd take a book aver a Kindle anyday.

Re: Japanese 3DS Television Service To Be Cancelled

Mercury9

Right. Ok. Don't hit me but the 3DS is handheld gaming console. It's not a TV!
We have Youtube. It's called Youtube. Yes, it'd be Youtube on the move but I'd sooner enjoy Youtube on my laptop than butchered to fit a small screen.

Youtube!

Re: Assassin's Creed III Footage Emerges From the Shadows

Mercury9

*Sees HD Union Jack flag....Ok, I'm buying this!

Am I the only one who pinches themselves in order to believe a game as good looking as this, is coming to a Nintendo console? The very idea of it gets me very, very excited for not just this but what other new and revamped titles we can expect.

And I'm not ashamed to say that when I first saw HD Zelda, I got a lump in my throat and nearly shed a tear! A game that was with me in childhood and gave me so many great memories had finally grown up and been given the graphical justice it long deserved

Nintendo, I do believe I love you!

Re: Cloudberry Kingdom Will Be Wii U's Most Difficult Download Game

Mercury9

Um. The challenge for $1000 can't be by beating a randomly generated level that differs for everyone surely, can it?

It wouldn't be fair. Playing it on it's hardest, I may get a hard level with more enemies and someone else may also get one but maybe they'd get more platforms to use and have less enemies to dodge.

At least make the competition for the $1000 equal for everyone and don't make it random!

Randomly generating games are awful and the idea of it happening in real time puts an already uninterested gamer even more put off by it

Re: Cloudberry Kingdom Will Be Wii U's Most Difficult Download Game

Mercury9

@Mayoman95
This type of game is just so inane and bland. I'm bored with the video!
Maybe I don't have the patience, maybe I play better games. Who knows.

I know this though, Pay ME $1000 and I'll play it. I'd love the winner to be say, be a 7 year old pwner and not get his reward

Mindless...

Re: Nintendo Japan Discontinues Aqua Blue 3DS

Mercury9

Um. 3DS is 3DS. What its colour is, is irrelevant. Only thing I hate about my Aqua Blue is the huge dint I've put in it by putting it in my jeans pocket.

Stupid useless stud button things...

If I were to be fussy, I'd love a clear 3DS just like the good ol clear Gameboy.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Should Offer Indie Game Bundles

Mercury9

Maybe we could have themed consoles. Wii U's bundled with say, 10 NES, SNES, N64 games pre loaded and varying in price.

Imagine if Nintendo had made available all Zelda games currently on 3DS eShop and pre loaded them on the Zelda themed anniversary 3DS. That would be awesome right?

Maybe Nintendo could sell Wii U's with point cards tied to a particular series. I like Mario so I'll buy a Wii U and get a Mario point card with it, get it home and download 10 Mario related games.

Bundles may be abit restricted to a new console unless they include current available content rather than new games. You'd want it to be somewhat recognisable especially if you're unsure or new to gaming.

Do people recognise Mario more than say Super Meat Boy?

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Should Offer Indie Game Bundles

Mercury9

@Rapadash6

Nevermind La Muluna! I want Earthbound! Take out The Beatles references Nintendo and get it released! No excuses!

Back on topic, Bundles would be a good incentive but would they entice a new gamer? Would it be wise to try and sell virtually unknown games to a fledgling Nintendyte rather than a bundle featuring the good old regulars?

Bundle VC games if anything but advertise Indie from the get go.

Re: 2D Platformer on 3DS Web Browser Jumps Into View

Mercury9

@3Dangerous3Dash

But we have great companies like Sony, MS, SEGA and Nintendo who make the best games on earth for the best consoles on earth! Who would honestly give that up to play mediocrity such as this?

And you think Computer games were crap 10 years ago? If anything, most were better than what we have now! Will people ever praise games made by Project Triniate in the same way we do with say, Final Fantasy, Zelda or Mario in 10 years from now?

I very much doubt it.

Re: 2D Platformer on 3DS Web Browser Jumps Into View

Mercury9

It's nice and creative but It's sure no Mario game.

Just what Nintendo think of this though is another matter. If enough kids get on board and get hooked then Iwata and co may start throwing Falcon Pawnches to the developers of such web browsing games. It detracts from the main purpose of the 3DS and Nintendo may not like it's users playing games however crude, in the vein of its IP's for nothing. Nintendo Roms and clones may be untouchable to some extent on a PC but when specifically developed for their 3DS?

Games for free on 3DS are good for some maybe but if I I were Nintendo, I wouldn't be too thrilled.

Project Triniate? I'd start collecting lawyers as if they were Pokemon!

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May 2012 (Europe)

Mercury9

eShop prices are a bit silly. Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters is cheaper than Tetris, yet Tetris is the same price as Metroid II - Return of Samus! Prices and the quality of the game it's attached to can seem very bizarre to me.

Expensive yes, but Shantae: Risky's Revenge is £10.80 and in my opinion, that game is well worth the price tag. For me, £7.20 for what it is and from what I've read about seems alot for a very small mediocre, generic looking game.

Prices don't reflect the quality of games on eShop. I really wish they did.

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th May 2012 (Europe)

Mercury9

Sega collapsing after the flop of Dreamcast and constantly releasing tat is all the proof for me that they are indeed the greatest video gaming company in the whole world. Stop relying on Sonic and Nintendo!

Re: Feature: The Magic of Console Launches

Mercury9

I'm not so fussed with Pokemon as I once was but I would love to see eShop receive the old titles.Give me Pokemon Yellow for download and I'll require nappies! As for new Pokemon the very least Poke Comp and Gamefreak could give us is that Pokemon B&W 2 despite being on DS be in widescreen when played on 3DS and not displayed as is standard for DS.

It's a real irritant of mine that new DS releases don't have a widescreen option to be better displayed on a 3DS and I don't mean any stretched nonsense. I mean, come on for Ganon's sake! I'd also like to see a similar set up when playing Wii games on Wii U with upscaling to near Wii U standards being possible. Maybe even re-release Wii classics in HD? I'm looking at you Galaxy, even though your are already gorgeous.

But whatever the console there is something magical about finally seeing this object for real that you have been reading and dreaming about for so long. Just like a freshly made bed, the moment you open that crisp, robot packaged box can never be replicated!

That moment when you've finished glaring at the box, power up the system, ignore the instruction booklets and pull an all nighter are collectively the best part for me when a console crash lands under my TV.

The excitement for me is cranked up even more because of that controller. I simply can't wait to see what it can do and finally, I'll get to see all my cherished childhood heroes displayed in glorious HD and deservedly so.

It lasts a mere moment but that first glimpse of the machine you have lusted after is a moment that is truly something magical.

Re: Feature: The Magic of Console Launches

Mercury9

Nah. That won't be happening and exactly what's the problem appealing to a wider audience? Sony and MS have done exactly that in recent years just to try and keep up with Nintendo by means of motion control and (ugh...) their stale take on casual games.

With the eShop/Shop channel, Virtual Console, WiiWare, hundreds of Wii games right from the start going hand in hand with Wii U games, if Nintendo get enough 3rd party support I could see this really damaging one of the other wonderboxes if it takes (hopefully!).

You wanna play Nintendo, you buy Nintendo. For everything else you must jump ship but with fingers crossed....let's hope this will be the end of that.

(IMO Goodbye Playstation)

Re: Talking Point: The Critical Importance of Black Ops 2

Mercury9

Decent COD was history related. It made for emotional, powerful gameplay (sometimes) that would actually make you somewhat interested in what you were doing and not just crunching and logging the numbers. Blops just felt like some random copy and paste genero-shooter and I believe Blops II will follow that template but as mentioned far above, this nonsense sells and will therefore sell Wii U's. This is good.
