Re: Amazon Instant Video App Hits The Wii Today In North America

Magi

@Gamesake I dunno about all that. I've seen (and own) some pretty great games on my PS3 and I purchased it brand new for $199 from Best Buy. I also purchased the Move controllers and the Sharpshooter with Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 for next-to-nothing as well. I might have $325 tied up in the whole "bundle". I can't really address your DRM issue as I'm not entirely sure what you're issue is there.

Re: Wii U Selling 1.2 Games Per Console In North America

Magi

1. Multiplatform games. Most people have already purchased these games on other consoles for far less money, at this point.

2. I purchased ZombieU and Mario so I accounted for 2 sales. Honestly, there is nothing else I'm intersted in and nothing on the horizon.

Re: Error Prevents Purchase Of ZombiU And Assassin's Creed III On Euro Wii U eShop

Magi

I think this is an issue that's rooted in a pretty pervasive culture in Nintendo: protect the children. I am the parent in my household, not Nintendo. I don't need them to restrict downloads or video viewing because I do that. I don't need them to dumb down chat functionality or online play in order to protect my kids either, because I do that too when necessary. While the average age of a NINTENDO GAMER might be under the age of 18 (I honestly don't know), the average age of a GAMER is definately in the 18+ range. Nintendo: STOP TREATING US ALL LIKE CHILDREN WHO NEED TO BE PROTECTED.

Really, this is my biggest complaint with Nintendo.

Re: Lack of "OMG" Idea Explains Borderlands Wii U Absence

Magi

I absolutely positively ridiculously love love love the Aliens franchise and can't wait for this game to come out. The idea of the gamepad being the motion tracker is an obvious one, but nifty nonetheless. "Sadly", I'll be playing this on Xbox and won't be able to utilize the niftyness.

Edit: unless I can talk my friends into all buying Wii Us.

Re: Review: ZombiU (Wii U)

Magi

@AlexSays fwiw, I'm also an avid xbox and ps3 gamer and would have no problems with playing this game on either console right now, even this far into their life span. It's a great game.

The only way I'd look back on this game and thought it could have been better is if they come out with a ZombieU2 (that name is intriguing on a few levels) that did the same thing that left 4 dead 2 did to l4d1 (made it feel like a demo). Even then, I would have to put on my rose-colored glasses.

Great review, Joe.

Re: Wii to Wii U Data Transfer Details Emerge

Magi

I'm down with all of it except step 4. Because of Wii's completely craptastic wireless security, I haven't had it hooked to the internet in a while and have since replaced my router with one that doesn't dumb itself down. I guess I'll have to rummage around through my box of misfit electronics to see if I can find an old router.

Re: Wii Owners: Microsoft Wants You To Buy The Xbox 360 This Holiday Season

Magi

I have 3 Xbox 360's in my home and they are all played EVERY SINGLE DAY. The single Wii we have in the house has been collecting dust for a long time. For me, each console is just about the games. Right now, there are none I want to play on the Wii and only 1 I want to play on my two preordered WiiU's. Plus, all my friends play the 360. If they all played WiiU's or PS3's, I'd primarily play that console.

Here's a thought: When the WiiU's are all sold out from here to Christmas, people are going to be looking for SOMETHING to purchase. I feel the Xbox would be a GREAT choice, if only to fill the void until retailers restock the WiiU's.

Re: Live: Wii U Preview

Magi

Nintendo Land looks to be the most compelling game title to launch so far. Unless, ofc, if ZombieU gets a US release on day 1 as well.

Re: Live: Wii U Preview

Magi

Just called Gamestop. He had no info on preorders right now. Another Gamestop said maybe tomorrow morning.

Re: Live: Wii U Preview

Magi

Bof, good question. This is the first conference I've ever watched. No sound yet for me either. We've got a couple people watching @ work.

Re: MYST is Drifting Towards 3DS in Europe

Magi

This was one of the first games that my wife and I played just after we got married. We would both come home from work and sit down next to each other at the computer with a notepad and pencil. We'd take notes and draw diagrams while we worked through each puzzle together. It was a great experience on the PC. It's an experience I could definately enjoy again with my two kids. Unfortunately, it's tough to have the type of experience I need on a handheld, especially the 3DS with such a limited field of view. Sorry Myst, I won't be buying you on the 3DS.

Re: Push Square is Open for Business!

Magi

Congrats on the expansion.

edit1: Does this make Vitagamr redundant? I would have no problem if it did, I'm just curious.
edit2: nvm, I just saw Slapshots post in the PS3 thread where Movemodo and Vitagamr have merged with PushSquare

Re: Learn More About 'Swapnote RPG'

Magi

@KaiserGX me too! I loved the built-in dice in the AOL chats. I actually played a campaign for a while run by DM Dusk in the old TSR chats. Was good times, til a bunch of my fellow partymembers ruined it.

Re: There's a Myst Descending on 3DS Next Year

Magi

My wife and I played this together. Now I wish I would have saved my notebook. We had diagrams and charts and all kinds of things written in it. Would be quite the interesting relic now methinks.

Re: Review: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure (3DS)

Magi

@SKTTR Is that a euro currency symbol? If so, then I think 480 euro is around $650USD. Where did you get that figure?

The 3DS game is $70 and it comes with 3 figures. Additional figures come in a 3-pack for $20 or in singles for $8. The expansion packs run $20. I'm guestimating $350 if you're silly enough to buy them all at full price.

It's only money.

Re: Review: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure (3DS)

Magi

It's a great game and I don't mind the additional figurine purchases. As has already been stated, THE GAME CAN BE COMPLETED WITH ONLY THE STARTER FIGURES. **IF** you want to complete every single challenge mission, then you would only need a total of 8 figures; one of each "element". Your grand total, in a worse-case scenario, would be around $100.00 if purchasing at full price. I got the game and many figures as a BOGO deal at Toys-R-Us so a bit of smart shopping will result in much cheaper prices. With Christmas nearly upon us, I suspect there will be additional groovy deals.

The bottom line? It's a great game and this review is spot-on and fair.
