Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the main reason why this game will fail:
"...the gameplay itself is being affected by gating new heroes behind either a paywall or a substantial time investment."
I rest my case.
Edit: quite a bunch of people responding to this comment of mine making comparisons to other F2P games that succeeded. I could be wrong, sure, but if you read forums of the actual Overwatch community, you'll notice how disappointed most people are with this business model. Also, while there have been successful F2P games with time-gated characters and such, very few of those were sequels to an established franchise with a standard business model.
Only time will tell but I don't see this game succeeding in the long run.
I don't really see the issue here. If someone told me that's how Mario looks in the next Super Mario game, I would have believed them. He looks perfectly fine to me.
I agree with many commenters here that Nintendo did nothing wrong by having Clifton fired. He signed an NDA and broke it, simple as that.
However, I'd like to point out that contract work is often abused by corporations, both large and small. It's a plague that permeates throughout most industries in which employees have few rights and are easily replaceable for any reason whatsoever.
Unionization is the only practical countermeasure employees have against being abused by their employers, aside from going to court which very few people do because it's such a long and costly process.
In most countries of Europe, unionization is standard practice for large firms and industries as a whole. The USA could learn a thing or two from the EU in how to protect human rights and basic human dignity.
Channel Surfing Simulator would be another good one. You pretend to watching a TV and every so often you need to zap to another channel. When a commercial starts you need to be extra quick. Dozens of hours of fun guaranteed!
@JJtheTexan I agree. This looks terrible. Even the short gameplay clip at the end felt like the guy who recorded this didn't know how to play the game.
I love the Shovel Knight IP but I think its original campaign Shovel of Hope is still the best. Can't wait for Yacht Club Games' next game Mina the Hollower. I'm ready to move on from Shovel Knight.

I loved this game back in the day. Would love to play it again.
My vote went to the European box art.

Last point-and-click adventure I played was Machinarium.
Time to get back into the genre.
