Even though Tecmo Super Bowl is significantly better, it wouldn't exist if this masterpiece didn't come first. The thing that nulifies this normally sure-fire purchase is the lack of player names. There were video football games before Tecmo Bowl, but none had the real player names. That was the charm of Tecmo Bowl. You were the real guys. It's just not as fun not having them on there.
I LOVE this game! It was the first game I bought for the VC. Punch-Out!! was always one of my favorite games on the NES and it's still quite fun to play today. While I haven't invested a lot of time into it, I've still yet to beat Mr. Dream. In a way, I am happy that I wasn't just able to download it and beat in less than an hour. Super Macho Man gave me a heckuva time too. Anyhow, this is one of the best games ever -- period.
This is one of my favorite games ever. This was my introduction to the Mario Kart series and what especially made it fun was the playing in 4P mode against my friends. It's true that 1P mode isn't as enjoyable, but it's still fun to play nonetheless. Now that I've got Mario Kart Wii, I really have no use for it. It sure was fun to play up until then, though.
This game was simply awesome for the NES and it's still fun to play every now and again today. I immediately bought this and Punch-Out!! the second I got my hands on a points card. I love how you can choose the types of players on your team so you can make a team that works best for your style of play. IMO, this is a more enjoyable game than Blades of Steel.
It's hard for me to give it any less than 3 stars because it's generally like the arcade game (which I love). However, if it were exactly like the arcade game, I'd give it 5 stars. DK for NES just lacks some of the fun of the arcade version. I occasionally throw it on when I need a DK fix and it's adequate for that purpose.
