This is the first I've heard of it being for the New Nintendo 3DS, I personally think it's odd if they choose to as you can't really buy the New Nintendo 3DS anymore only pre owned ones.
I am really looking forward to this new Kirby game, I wish they would release these style games for the Wii U, but hey let's hope they have a new Kirby game planned for the next Nintendo console. I love the look of this package where it comes with a Kirby amiibo I hope I can get one of these.
