"the fact that Nintendo appears to have ceased support for this wildly popular and impactful entry into the beloved Animal Crossing series is baffling"
Genuinely curious, but what more could Nintendo put in the game that would drive people to come back? Like, I don't see it as easy as Mario Kart with plopping a bunch of tracks 3 times a year. I'm not trying to be snarky or stand-offish, but what can be added that isn't already present and could entice somebody new to play?
I'm glad the game developers are speaking out. That said, don't tell me that there aren't millions of gamers calling these patches "lazy" or "fixing it later". Folks will nod their head at this, but then go after games like Animal Crossing for patching things in as "free updates".
I gotta say, seeing Zelda sell more than Pokemon makes me feel good.
And Zelda was at 16.34 million versus Pokemon at 16.06 million this time last year, so they have both kept pace with one another; in fact, Zelda sold 5 million versus Pokemon's roughly 4 million in 2020.
I'm fine with Directs going the way of the dodo, with some exceptions (series-exclusive like Mario or Zelda and Partner showcases).
Most Directs I look back on, there is like 80% "meh" or "not interested" and 20% "WOO!" or "Nice, just for me", and I'm being generous with the 80-20 split.
Hard to believe we are a few days away from the anniversary of the Nintendo Switch Presentation (Jan 12 or 13, 2017) and the Switch has already eclipsed its "fall-back plan" system, the 3DS.
I randomly watched that presentation again and especially compared to the PS5 presentation from last June, boy, there was not much to latch onto, just Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey & Zelda, and then a whole lot of just... dead air, for lack of a better term. But man, it feels good to see those figures!
Don't forget y'all, this version has online multiplayer. If it works well, my friends and I are going to have a riotous time worthy of the $60 price tags.
(Now here come the "if it works" comments followed by laughter...)
@illmatic20xx Yes, as of June 2019's report, Xenoblade 2 sold 1.73 million. It probably stopped just shy of 2 million.
A great game, imo. I played Xenoblade 1 a few years ago so the new edition doesn't interest me much, but I hope more people give the series an opportunity!
So, reading through the comments and seeing videos lately, I'm starting to see more people sour on the Switch. I would really like to understand why.
Joy-Con drift: I can 100% understand. I had to send mine in and even after repair, it doesnt feel great. I'm thankful to have a pro controller.
Themes: What would a theme do? You open your switch and you see Isabelle or Pikachu? Okay. Say hi and then play your game.
Folders: Kind of the same thing. I personally open my Switch to play my game, not weave through multiple folders to get my game.
Voice Chat: Discord works well, imo.
Is the Switch perfect? Nope. But I would rather be in the state it is in now as opposed to another Wii U or Gamecube. Games will be coming soon and theres already plenty to play. Let's celebrate what the Switch is, not groan for what it could be!

Re: Random: People Are Getting Pretty Worried About Splatoon 3
Last I checked, we have 6 weeks to go. Plenty of time to drop news. Metroid Dread and Xenoblade 3 were from series that needed a big advertising push.
And even so, Splatoon 3 could literally go silent until release and it would sell more than both combined.
R-E-L-A-X, folks!

I just hope the online with friends is good. (insert witty comment about Nintendo's bad online) Otherwise, I'm not much interested in double dipping

@MS7000 Thanks for that. Don't know how I put 2020 instead. Nonetheless, very impressive.
@FargusPelagius Agreed. Gonna be buying Nintendo consoles for a long time just for Splatoon sequels!
Re: 18 Nintendo-Published Switch Games Sold More Than A Million Copies This Financial Year
Great to see Splatoon 2 make the 10 million club! Hard to believe it was released nearly 5 years ago (29 May 2020) and look how far its come! <3
Edit: 29 May 2015. Wow, I missed that
Re: Japanese Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Surpasses Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Lifetime Physical Sales
Animal Crossing joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pokemon Sword/Shield & Splatoon 2 in the 3 million sales club in Japan! AWESOME!
Re: Japanese Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Surpasses Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Lifetime Physical Sales
@mesome713 I would not say the RE3 sales are horrible. The Resident Evil 2 Remake last year sold ~250,000 units the first week.
