Re: Hands On: Putting the Nintendo Switch Hardware Through Its Paces

Question:

What is the point of the removable controllers? Wouldn't it be easier just to leave them on and use a separate controller when in console mode? I think it's over-engineered a bit... or is the screen usable without the controllers? I wonder if production is more expensive because of this functionality or less expensive because there are less parts...

Regarding portability it does not look like something that I would chuck in my bag. It needs a case or bag. I wouldn't take it out on a bus. I feel a bit that it will be underpowered for the living room and not mobile enough for on the road. Underpowered as in it will have less 3rd party games because of its limitations. So far not sold.

@kobashi100

I don't care about sales numbers, no. People being crazy and saying it's a disaster because of loss, yes, I think that's silly. Sony's been on the downhill for years and no one seems to care.

I do think that the game pad gives us new ways to play even though it could be exploited more. If you think good gaming = super "next gen" hardware then why did you buy a Wii U in the first place?

Come on guys. Since when do sales numbers matter? We do get great games, backwards compatibility, NES, SNES, GBA games and a lot more coming up! I seriously don't get why is everyone so obsessed with how many units are sold. Do you really need some sort of justification of your purchase? Do you feel left out because other consoles sell better?

Nintendo is pushing the limits with new stuff. They might fail or might not fail. They could have played it safe like the competitors did. Appreciate that and wait for awesome stuff to come. Or buy an Xbone because they had more units sold.
