It's a shame about those Rare titles, but Nintendo has plenty of first and second party titles to choose from:
Super Mario 64
Donkey Kong 64
Yoshi's Story
Kirby 64
F-Zero X
Star Fox 64
Super Smash Bros
Mario Kart 64
Paper Mario
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Zelda Majora's Mask
Pokémon Snap
Wave Race 64
Pilotwings 64
Excitebike 64
Mario Party 1-3
1080° Snowboarding
Add to that the possibilities of some third parties like Mischief Makers, Sin and Punishment, Mega Man Legends,... and Nintendo could possibly make 2 N64 Classic consoles if they want to.
"...as overdone as a chicken cooked in a volcano..."
I was looking forward to this game but this review confirms all the other reports I've been reading/hearing this week that it's just not good enough. Shame really.
Great review btw.
My guess is they'll show it at E3. Why wouldn't they reveal it at E3 at this point? They can get a lot of exposure if it's part of the Nintendo Direct for example.
@NintendoPete I'm not sure on that either, but the annoyance of loading times greatly depend on how often they occur as well. Say the loading times for this game are 30 seconds. Not too bad, except when you die every couple of minutes, or even more frequently at some points, those 30 seconds become really troublesome.
At first I thought this review was a bit harsh. However, I then tried to imagine how it'd be like to play a game like this, where death is very frequent, and having to wait too long after each death for the game to reload. It would ruin the experience for me as well. So yes, if those loading times are true, then @MikeDiver had every right to criticize it in his review and thus the score is very warranted.
I beat this one very recently and fell in love with the world and its characters, especially Otus. It's easily one of my favorite video games of all time and currently in my Top 3 Switch games. Check it out if you haven't already!

Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that.

@edgedino
Any specific reason why they won't aside from Mario Party 2 being better?

Re: Nintendo Applies For New N64 Trademark - Is Another Classic Edition On The Way?
@mikegamer
Please read my comment again. I specifically said EXCEPT DK64.
Wished people would actually read something before commenting on it.
Re: Nintendo Applies For New N64 Trademark - Is Another Classic Edition On The Way?
Too bad many of the best N64 games were made by Rare. It's very unlikely those titles will be on a N64-Mini... except for DK64 of course.
