Re: Review: The VideoKid (Switch eShop)

Gonzo1

Absolutely loving this game, it’s hard but just get so giddy when I see something new every time I play, I get a little further each time to only lose focus when I spot something new.
Jonny 5 & Indiana Jones got me giddy just now then got taken out by Optimus Prime.

Re: Reminder: The Nintendo Network Premium Promotion Ends on 31st December

Gonzo1

I've had £30 of vouchers through this promotion.
Never purchased direct from eShop either, purchased the download code from Game for £10-£15 less than the eShop price. Game Reward Points plus credited Premium Points on the full eShop price was quite a bargain.
Shame this promotion is ending as it was the only reason I downloaded from the eShop.
Looks like I will buying physical from now on unless there's a really good deal to be had.

Re: Latest Wii U System Update Allows Console To Console Data Transfer

Gonzo1

@JaxonH but for what reason would someone want to upgrade their WiiU at Will?
Yeah maybe going from an 8GB to a 32GB, but even then it's unlikely as a cheaper option would be to buy a HDD if all you want is more storage.
The only reason the vast majority of users would only need to get a new system would be if they've either sold theirs and intend on buying again at a later date or if your WiiU produces a fault outside of the warranty period.
I can sort of understand with 3DS if your going from a 3DS to a 3DS XL or even if you've bought a new 3DS as you may have broke the hinge or cracked the screen of your old one, but I just cannot see why anyone would want or need to replace a perfectly working WiiU with a new one.

Re: 3DS System Update 8.0.0-18 is Now Live

Gonzo1

Now I'm confused, I gave up trying last night so just tried to update this morning and it said it was already up to date.
Had a look and it's updated all by itself.
I didn't think it could do that while it's off.?

Re: 3DS System Update 8.0.0-18 is Now Live

Gonzo1

Ok I'm now updating, but it seems to only work on an unsecured network.
So try disabling your security settings on your router and it should then start updating.

Edit: oh bugger, after a quarter had downloaded im greeted with an Error again

Re: Super Mario Kart Drifts Onto Aussie Wii U Virtual Console on 28th March

Gonzo1

@Chunky_Droid your not really essentially getting Snes Mario Kart for free at all when eShop price is more expensive than the physical copy.
In most cases you'd be better off buying physical MK8 (or cheaper eShop code if available), download Snes MK which will still be cheaper than what your pay with the promotion.

Re: Remake Request: Virtua Fighter 2

Gonzo1

Loved VF2 on Saturn, but didn't really like VF3tb on Dreamcast.
I would love to see Sega start making some new Arcade gems and bring them to WiiU as quite frankly Arcade was what Sega did best. We definitely need a new up to date House of the Dead game and Virtua Cop would be nice too as light gun style games worked quite well on Wii, HOTD Overkill was only let down slightly by lack of power.
Sega Rally and Daytona are most certainly well overdue too.

Re: NPD Data Shows More U.S. Gamers Switching to Downloads

Gonzo1

It all depends on price for, I'm currently downloading DKTF which I just purchased the download code from Game for £32.99 which was the same as the disc price. For that I get Game Reward Points and Nintendo Premium Points too which will also give me enough points for another free £5.00 eShop code.

Re: Wii Fit No Substitute For Real Exercise According To Academic Research

Gonzo1

I was always under the impression that any activity that causes a sweat is classed as exercise. Well doing the aerobic exercises on Wii Fit like the advanced Hula Hoop amongst others most certainly make you sweat.
Obviously if all your doing is the balance games or your not using it at all your not going to break up too much of a sweat.
Also I'd much rather my kids be having fun on Wii Fit rather than sat on their bums with a controller in their hands exercising their thumbs.

Re: UK Retailer GAME States Ambition to be at the Forefront Of Download Content Sales

Gonzo1

Well let me see, Super Mario 3D World £49.99 both on the eShop and in-store Game.
However Game online download code is £39.99, also you get Game Reward Points and Nintendo Premium Points too.
I did the same with WiiSports Club Bowling which is £8.99 on eShop and the same via Game so it just made sense to get the extra Reward points from Game.
I thinks I will stick with Game online eShop codes for now, unless of coarse I find much cheaper elsewhere.

Re: Shenmue's Ryo Hazuki Is Speeding Towards Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

Gonzo1

I'm never getting rid of my Dreamcast or Shenmue 1 & 2. Would love to see the story concluded on WiiU and QTE's using the gamepad could be rather good too, but I think for a release of Shenmue 3 to work it would need to be multi-platform along with Shenmue 1 & 2 as maybe a trilogy set.
As for Sonic Racing I'm rather disappointed that the hype turned out to be an iOS/Android release, would much rather see some love given to the already released console versions.

Re: Wii U Software Falls Off The UK Charts

Gonzo1

It's hardly surprising as most people don't even know what WiiU is.
Also, not sure about other areas but my local Asda doesn't even stock WiiU.
They've got 3DS, Xbox 360, PS3,PSVita, Wii games relegated to bargain bin with no sign of anything WiiU at all.

Re: Wii U Struggles to Make an Impact in the UK Software Charts

Gonzo1

@WhiteKnight: I don't recall saying I bought cheap secondhand games. It just would be better if games were at a reasonable price from the start then some people wouldn't have to wait for second hand copies to appear & stores wouldn't have to drastically drop the prices to shift what's not selling, then in turn games studios wouldn't need to close as more new games would be sold rather than new games quickly becoming old games being sold eventually at discounted prices.

Re: Wii U Struggles to Make an Impact in the UK Software Charts

Gonzo1

@WhiteKnight: Perhaps the reason games studios are closing is because people are just not buying games because they think they're too expensive.
The way I see it is as long as the price is right I will continue to buy games, if they're not right then the games will stay on the stores shelves.
One of the reasons I've held off buying the WiiU just yet is because I just don't fancy paying £40+ per game. If I was single then maybe it wouldn't bother me so much, but with a family price matters a whole lot more.
