I don't get why people would want 8 players on the screen at once. 4 players and all items on already makes keeping track of your character hard enough and people wanna double it? Also, how big do the stages have to be to accommodate 4 more? Obviously, it's difficult to judge without actually seeing it, but it's just not an appealing idea for me.
The negativity here is a little confusing to me. Aside from the fact that this isn't much of a surprise, are there really a lot of GBA games that need multiplayer to be fun? Or even offer it for that matter? I'm genuinely curious because from what I remember of the GBA library, it doesn't sound like we're missing out on much except for a few mini-games...
Definitely agree with everyone else here. The lack of any 3DS games in the handheld category is puzzling, especially considering how many fantastic exclusives it got this past year. Also would have been nice to see Dragon's Crown get some recognition for its incredible art.
Yet more brilliance from Ubisoft. Apparently, releasing the game across all platforms at the same time suddenly isn't a priority anymore? I suppose it makes sense to get the game out to the bigger market ASAP, but I just know that when the Wii U sales turn out to be god awful, they're gonna point their fat fingers at Nintendo because who else could possibly be to blame?
@navonod18 The hold up is that we're not just getting 4, but rather 4G with all the new content and that hasn't even released in Japan yet. Personally, I don't mind waiting if it means the game we get is gonna be about twice as big.
Not too hyped about this one. I was actually really excited to see who they would replace Lucario with, but now I just have to hope Pokemon trainer stays. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but yeah. I managed to get pretty damn good with Ivysaur.
Kid Icarus U has to be in this conversation. I know it's unlikely to win because there were just so many great games released this year, but Kid Icarus was a fantastic experience. It was frantic, fun, and very very unique. It's one of my favorite action games hands down.
@Shambo If you have a 3DS, I would say to just stick with that, honestly. I had both handhelds and despite all the Vita's promise, it was just a very expensive paperweight for me. Unless you really want that Persona 4 Golden or other handful of exclusive games, you have to ask if it's really worth it to pay for a console with a future lineup that consists primarily of indie games and ports that are always gonna be available on other platforms. The console is beautiful though and it plays great, but there weren't enough games to justify having one imo.
It's still way too early to tell, especially since the PS4 launch is so underwhelming. The thing will be sold out for the holidays along with the One, but once all the pre-orders have been shipped out, will they still be able to keep their momentum? Unless they're able to crank out some killer exclusives, it might be a struggle for them as well. Personally, they don't offer enough to make me dish out $500+ and add more clutter to my TV area.
The sales numbers are definitely troubling and I'm curious to see if they are due in large part to Nintendo's mistakes or if they are also indicative of general disinterest in upgrading hardware. I know us "core" gamers always try to keep up with the latest consoles and games, but I can definitely see why the average person would be more reluctant to drop down $400+ on a new console and games when they can simply purchase a much cheaper PS3/360 with an already immense library or even just try to catch up on all the games they missed this gen. The crazy amount of quality games that were being pumped out month after month for a good long while literally made it impossible for me to buy and play every game that I wanted. I'm sure that's the case for a lot people as well and the prices on those games will only go down, making them more appealing and really hurting the next-gen.
@bluecat When I upgraded, I kept mine for my inevitable trading between games since I have SS, Black, and Black 2. Then again, mine is the Zelda 3DS too and there's no way I'd part with it. Hope you enjoy your XL! Once you go big, it's hard to go back though. The original just feels ridiculously small in comparison after a while.
@Fusion14 It's a beat 'em up, so you don't really need any D&D knowledge to enjoy it. It looks great and assuming they resolved all the bugs, it's totally worth the asking price and wait.
I really hope this is a branching of the evolution line and not a full upgrade considering that half those pokemon don't need any help in terms of stats. Perhaps just a redistribution of stats along with the new ability? Anyway, these look awesome and I hope they're fair about it and give us quite a few other mega-starters. If my Charizard was a force to be reckoned with before, I can only imagine him in mega-form... drool
I bought the Wii U for Nintendo games and in a few months, there will be more than I can dish out money for. I also really hope Nintendo maintains its close relationship with Platinum. The Wonderful 101 looks amazing and I'd love to see more exclusive games from them. If they can keep the quality titles coming, there's no reason for me to get another system. Especially considering there are SO many games that I haven't played on my PS3 yet and those are only gonna get cheaper. I honestly see very little incentive to upgrade to PS4/XB1. The only game that caught my eye for either system was KH3 and that isn't coming until 2015 at the earliest.
@Peach64 What makes you say that? I imagine they'd be treated similarly to MonolithSoft and given free reign of their projects. The only negative I can see to Nintendo buying them out is that they'd only be on Nintendo systems and I, personally, don't see that as a bad thing. =p

I'm actually pretty happy with the new direction they took the artwork in. I'm a big fan of the more Oracle-ish Link.
