If Nintendo is planning to release a controller or portable without front physical buttons, hopefully they have some accessory grip that will have buttons on them, like multi level shoulder buttons.
If greed was the reason for making SNES VC an N3DS exclusive. The more incentive greedy Nintendo has to make it work on the old 3DS (along with no cross-buy). The old 3DS probably outnumbers the N3DS ~10:1. Profit from software (esp. VC) is probably greater than their hardware margins.
Someone made a valid point about architectures being different between the 3DS and WiiU. So additional resources has to be spent by Nintendo/indie developers to bring their VC titles and eShop games to both platforms vs. only one. So some of the indies that offer cross-buy are taking a loss to give both versions to fans. Imagine a developer for iOS allowing you to buy their app on Android for free if you bought the iOS version, just won't happen. We just need to accept that there is effort to port these VC titles and eShop titles to both 3DS and WiiU.
For those peeved about SNES exclusive to N3DS, wouldn't it be more greedy of Nintendo to release to both original 3DS and N3DS? I doubt profit from potential new sales of N3DS would outperform the potential of SNES VC sales from +40 million original 3DSes out there. There is some validity in the hardware claim.
