Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong: Progression Guide - Recommended Route

You actually do not need the Drifter’s Cloak to get through Hunter’s March. There’s one bit at the very tail end to get some goodies but you can go through the whole thing without.

Granted, there’s not really a huge reason to do so, because it’s not on the way to anywhere and is really just a wide loop taking you to the Docks.

Re: Feature: The Best Professor Layton Games

@PBandSmelly Well, he's an excellent fencer and fought people that way a number of times. He also made a machine gun out of nothing more than broken casino slot machines. There are a slew of puzzle-related gags they could do with the fighting.

However, there's no way you could release him this round of DLC. He HAS to be announced and released alongside Wright.

Re: Switch Owners Won't Be Able To Play Minecraft Or Rocket League Against PS4 Owners, And Here's Why

DonBugen

That whole thing about safety is complete BS- it's not like PlayStation only attracts the good, moral, and decent in society. Same with it being something for sales - after all, if a bunch of friends want to play online together now, Sony is -not- the console of choice unless everyone has it. No, I bet this is just the biggest dog in the park refusing to play with others, simply because they think that they don't matter.

Idiots. Who's on top today is never who's on top tomorrow in this business. Nintendo and Microsoft are just different enough in core audience and console concept that I could totally see more mutual collaboration in the future. And when businesses work together, they come up with some truly amazing things that you would never expect.

Re: Poll: Who Is Your Favourite ARMS Fighter?

My vote has to go to Mechanica. Everyone else had some sort of freak genetic mutation (or, in Helix's case, IS a freak genetic mutation) but Mechanica is just a run-of-the-mill average person. A -brilliant- average person, but still. She works her butt off to get where she is, and I identify with that.

Re: Forget Scratched Screens And Joy-Con Problems, "Warp-Gate" Is The New Nintendo Switch Issue

DonBugen

As delightful as the term “Warp-Gate” might be, please stop using it. At best, you’re comparing a possible manufacturing defect to a historic nationwide scandal; at worst, you’re personally escalating this to be far larger than there is any evidence at the moment to suggest and giving the issue far more memorability and headspace than it currently deserves. Not very good journalistic practices. Besides, tagging “gate” at the end of anything remotely controversial was tired and overused when gamers started doing it in 2014. I don’t enjoy being “that guy” who picks on articles, but this is a practice that needs to end.

Re: Nintendo and DeNA Shares Tumble as Investors Show Super Mario Run Revenue Fears

This is why I love Nintendo. They know exactly why investors want a mobile game - because games like Candy Crush and Clash of Clans have made boatloads of money through microtransactions. So they eventually make a mobile game- but they make it for their own reasons. And then when it comes time to decide how they want their customers to pay for the game, they decide against microtransactions and for a method of pay which would work best for children, parents, and anyone who doesn't want to pay through the nose to get an actually good game experience.

Super Mario Run's style is exactly the same as Nintendo's approach to mobile. Try a little bit. If you like it, pay a little bit to get more. If you like that, make an investment to try more Nintendo games.

Re: Guide: Pokémon GO Monster Types And Where To Find Them

@PlywoodStick I think that I have to strongly disagree on you on several accounts. Calling those locations opportunistic footholds is a little bit of a stretch. Parks, cemeteries, historic monuments, and the like are all public locations and are free for anyone to go to, regardless of the reason. I could take my D&D group out there and play a game and there really isn't anything that anyone can do about it. Other locations, like museums, churches, and buildings of other religious faiths, are by nature open to newcomers and would welcome increased traffic, as there will doubtless be those who may investigate the church or museum to learn more. There is the odd circumstance of a Pokestop really being located somewhere that was inappropriate - like, a church that was converted into a private residence - but that's why the form exists.

Ultimately, if you're going to have games that revolves around walking around your community, you need there to be goals to walk to and places for players to meet. It seems obvious to me there are two types of locations you would consider - stores, restaurants, and other places of business; and also public locations and places of cultural or historical interest. Niantic was being very thoughtful and careful when they chose the types of locations that they did. But you can't please everyone, and I suppose there will always be people out there who think that increased traffic to museums, churches, and national monuments is offensive if it was a Pokemon that sparked the public's renewed interest in the place.
