Nintendo being under the control of the kind of person and/or corporate entity that would pursue a hostile takeover would be the death of the company. Nintendo isn't perfect, but marching to the beat of their own drum, as opposed to constantly pursuing the bottom line like their rivals, is the main reason that they have survived for over 3 decades in the gaming industry. I'm not saying they don't make decisions in the name of profit, but it's not the only motivation driving their executives. This is the same company whose board of executives took a 50% pay cut when the 3DS price drop happened.
While Nintendo acquiring Mega Man, Monster Hunter, Phoenix Wright, etc. would be a good thing, I honestly hope that Disney (or one of their sub-companies, like Marvel) buys the Street Fighter and other IPs associated with the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise, that way we get more games with less red tape and the Marvel vs. Capcom games can be sold on various digital distributions again.
@BenAV Whichever game they decide to remake, it wont be the Zelda team working on it. They're already working on the next console Zelda. The remake(s) will most likely be made by Grezzo studios, the ones who did the Ocarina of Time 3D remake.
I bought it the first day it was available on Virtual Console. That makes 3 copies of the game I own. The original Gameboy version, the Gameboy Color version, and the Virtual Console version. This was the game that introduced me to Zelda, the game that got me hooked on video games, the game that my roommate and I bonded over when we met 16 years ago in 6th grade. I lost track years ago of how many times I've beaten the game, but I still pick it back up every now and then for another play through. I almost cried when I realized that the battery in my Gameboy cartridge had died and I would never be able to save my game on it again.
The multiplayer can be fun if you get the right people. I remember one particular game at a LAN party. Player 1 - "He got the Super Missile!" Player 2 (new to Metroid) - "What's the Super Missile?" Player 2 turns around, Player 3 is right behind him. Player 3 "This!" BOOM!
The part about the local gaming community really holds true for me. My roommate and I have been friends since sixth grade (fifteen years) due to video games. He was having trouble beating the boss of the third dungeon in Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. A mutual friend knew I had beaten the game and introduced us. If online guides had existed then, we never would have met.

A CD of this already exists. It came with the deluxe edition of Skyward Sword.

Re: If Fans Speak Up, Majora's Mask 3DS Might Happen
I would absolutely buy Majora's Mask on the 3DS. I'm in the middle of my 7th or 8th play through right now.
