I haven't noticed a performance boost yet, but what I have noticed is the awful excuse for Bluetooth audio support.
I just did some comparison testing a pair of Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones that support aptX (low latency) with my Switch and Switch Lite. I compared the new Bluetooth audio to using a third party USB-C audio module I bought for the Switch over a year ago. The third party module also supports aptX.
There's a VERY noticable difference in latency between the two. I wish I had a way of measuring it scientifically. I'd love to publish some hard numbers.
I didn't even add any additional controllers and I tested the regular Switch with my pro controller hardwired via USB to make sure I ruled out any controller related interference.
This is bad bad bad. They had so much time to work on this. What have they been doing???
The fact that the update was so quick tells us that the actual code has been on the Switch for at least the past update or two. Maybe more. This was just a simple flipping a bit to turn it on. Maybe it should go back in the oven until version 20?
Awesome move Square Enix! It’s about time corporations realize that employees can and are productive when working from home! Plus they get more time with family and friends. Kudos!
@Heavyarms55 Pikmin 3 Deluxe isn’t just a straight port. The core game is but there’s a lot of content that wasn’t part of the original release. I agree though that bugs in the original game should be left alone. I don’t mind if they fix issues with the new content...especially when it comes to achievements not being saved.
I don’t care if something was done in emulation vs a complete rewrite. As long as it’s fun...that’s all that matters to me. People complain because SM3DAS is emulation (mostly). They complain because of slowdown in Zelda - Links Awakening which was a complete rewrite.
Someone is always going to find something to complain about. Even I have something to complain about - lack of accessibility controls - can’t invert the controls in Sunshine to be the same as it was on the GameCube. But it’s not stopping me from enjoying what I can.
If things truly bothers people so much, don’t play the games...go back under the bridge you came from.
From what I can tell, there was instability in both CFW and the game itself as there were patches for both. There’s no such thing as perfect code (unless it’s “Hello World”).
I don’t mind using CFW to check out a game a few days early, but I’ve literally purchased every single game I’ve played and will continue to do so.
