Re: Review: Rock Of Ages 3: Make & Break - Between A Rock And A Hard Place

I loved the first two Rock of Ages games, and I was certainly excited for this one. Unfortunately, even I'll admit that this was a letdown. The physics just feel worse compared to the previous one, and I feel like the AI has some stupidly unfair advantage over the player in how they work. The worst part, at least for the Switch version — And I'll admit that it seems exclusive to me since no one else seems to bring it up, but still — is that the game runs as well as a cube boulder going uphill. The game stutters and slows down all the time, even crashing at points, and the one Humpty Dumpty minigame is often nigh unplayable. It seems like it's decent on PC, but still, it makes no sense when prior games seemed to run completely fine on the console. It honestly feels like they rushed this, which is a shame, given they did seem to have some ambitions for this. Oh well... I think it's still worth playing, but just not compared to the other two (And definitely not on Switch).

Re: Review: Where The Water Tastes Like Wine - A Unique Narrative Experience That Fails As A Video Game

I personally really liked the game when I got it on PC, but I think that a lot of it is because of how it just hit me square on with its premise. As a lover of American folktales (Which I feel are severely underrated among general myths/tales compared to Grimm's) & stories about stories, it seemed almost catered to me. However, I can't help but admit how this game also feels incredibly held back by its own design. In a way, I kinda like the travel mechanic for just how it makes me just wander & chew on some of the stories I found for a bit, but I'll certainly admit that the pace of going around is frustrating. I suppose that's sorta the point, with how you have to hitch rides or find trains or whatnot, but you're still gonna have to do a lot of walking. Also, this game was riddled up the wazoo with bugs when it first came out, to where hitching a ride by train without a ticket, even when you weren't caught, would always lose me a chunk of health.

I do love a lot of things within this game, but in some ways, I can also say that you may be better off looking at silent playthroughs of the stories within. Oh well... Here's to me hoping that a much better game with American folktales comes into being.

Only big thing (for me at least) that's missing here is "Where the Water Tastes Like Wine"! Not too surprised, though, considering how not a soul has mentioned it, including the devs themselves, it seems!
For a brief rundown, WtWTLW was originally released on Steam & apparently flopped. The games a sorta strange mix of Choose-Your-Own-Adventure & walking simulator, with you going around a Depression-era U.S. collecting folk tales to share with others. As a lover of both folklore and tales about tales, I instantly loved this game, though I can see some people getting bored with all of the walking involved, though I hear some things have been improved since.
Whatever you guys think of it, though, I'm mighty glad to see I can play it on the go!

Gotta admit, the Japanese version is best. The NA version has potential, with its much brighter coloring than the others, & I can see a much better composition being made here, but it never seems to come together. The EU version, meanwhile, feels like it's a messy version of the Japanese box art, cutting it down & slapping a chunk of text to the side to offset the thing.

Re: Nintendo's New Ring Controller May Have Been Revealed Years Ago, We Just Didn't Know It

While I'll admit that this is a confusing trailer, I don't mind if it means we might get a new Wii Fit or the like. Heck, I'd love to see a new Wii Sports, so if this means that we'll start to see a new one of those, then I'm up for it! I doubt this means Nintendo will suddenly backslide into the motion-control-laden company of yesteryear like some of you think this may lead to; I'm glad to see Nintendo has changed ultimately for the better with its newfound appeal to gamers & not just casual ones, but that doesn't mean we can't see them do something like that again here & there!

Re: Random: Here's The Reason Why The North American Super NES Looks So Different

Still gonna stick to the American SNES on this one. I know some people have made old car comparisons with it, but hey, I love that kind of cubic look to things! The Super Famicom design, comparatively, looks rather bland to me, with how smooth and round they made it. It's like Normal Spongebob to our Spongebob.

I will admit, though, that I do wish we had the multicolored buttons.
