Re: Review: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (3DS)

"About Martin Watts
As Nintendo Life's resident Nintendo 64 expert, Martin believes that everything is better with a "64" at the end of its name."
Now I know why it didn't get 10/10! Haha, just kidding. Nice review, with valid praises and complaints. Only question I'd have is the complaint that the Mii Fighters seem "tacked on". The amount of customization allowed with them seems to suggest the opposite... Anyways, really hyped. 1 more week until the rest of my life and all that jazz!

Re: Review: 1001 Spikes (3DS eShop)

Ashflow

"Like Goldilocks, 1001 Spikes is a continuous search for something that's "just right," and you won't know which porridge is too hot or too cold until you catch yourself on fire or die of frostbite." Best line, hands down.

The IGN review mentioned choppy animation for the 3DS version, did you have any issues with that (I'm assuming they meant frame rate rather than the 'jiggling')?

Re: Reaction: Nintendo's Steady Start in Retail Downloads

Ashflow

I just got my copy today, due to my having preordered it, but I actually only payed $30 for it. Granted, it was a special deal/offer, but I still got the retail game for $10 less than the digital version. Long live physical! (Though I don't oppose others going digital, it's very unappealing to me personally.)

Re: Nintendo Lets Rip with Kid Icarus: Uprising Multiplayer Info

Ashflow

This looks awesome! (Pre-ordered a week or two ago )
The video points out that your team's life gauge goes down when you're defeated based on how powerful your weapon is... seems like another layer of depth strategy-wise. You can use powerful weapons for easy kills or use weaker weapons so you can take more risks.
Also, don't know if this was already confirmed (it probably was and I just missed it), but I'm glad that there's local multiplayer

Re: Nintendo Considering Retail Downloads on 3DS and Wii U

Ashflow

I think that if you buy the retail version, you should have the option to download it as well, while only buying the downloadable version would be slightly cheaper. Downloads would have the advantage of being cheaper, while physical copies would have the advantage of options. Win/Win.

Re: Majora's Mask and Dr. Mario Join Club Nintendo Rewards

Ashflow

Really, really want to play Majora's Mask, but I don't want to "waste" 150 coins if it is eventually remade for my beautiful Zelda 3DS. Also, if it's remade, I'd much rather have that as my first experience with it than with the admittedly chunky 64 graphics. However, none of this really matters unless I also want to buy a controller to play the game (I might get Kirby though...)

And a quick question: How do you guys/gals think Nintendo prices these rewards? Some of those coin values don't seem very fitting, to be honest (at least, compared to the other options).

@ThomasBW84
That's what I get for skipping most of the comments
Thanks for your explanation (To be honest I thought it was a joke when I read it, so my comment was meant a little more light-hearted than how it appears).
Somewhat more on-topic: Really hoping for Paper Mario this year!

Re: Round Table: Looking Ahead to Nintendo in 2012

Ashflow

"Also Nintendo asked us if we thought people would be interested in a Majora's Mask for 3DS, and we told them no."
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! How could you?
It's ok though, Aonuma already said they were considering it after making Zelda 3DS.

Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2012

Ashflow

Kid Icarus, Paper Mario (hopefully this year), possibly Luigi's Mansion 2 (is that just a guess it's coming this year?), and possibly MH3G (if it comes out here). Need to look into the last two a bit more before I decide, but if it's a yes for all of them that's more games than last year. Not bad if you ask me. (Last year I got OoT and MK7, but I'll eventually be getting SM3DL).

Re: Talking Point: Your Nintendo Christmas Presents

Ashflow

Surprise!
Got MK7 (so did my bro) and Skyward Sword (to share with my bro) in a special edition 2-day late Christmas with my relatives from another state. MK7 is awesome so far and I can't wait to try SS (tomorrow night at the earliest ).

Re: Talking Point: Your Nintendo Christmas Presents

Ashflow

I didn't get anything video-game related... -is still a teenager-
So pretty much I just have to remind myself that Christmas isn't about the presents, even though they make it a lot better.
Edit: didn't realize asterisks bolded things

Re: That Zelda Timeline Makes a Bit More Sense Now

Ashflow

I think that when this is officially confirmed I'm going to have to die fighting Ganon in Ocarina of Time... just to see the Game Over screen that leads to over a third of the series.
Also, anyone else think that when you finally get to play some of these games you'll look at them a bit differently now?

Re: 3DS Ambassador Game Boy Advance Games Revealed

Ashflow

All of these should be made available to everyone eventually, but the one I want the most is Minish Cap! My Zelda 3DS NEEDS it (and the 2 upcoming NES games) to be complete. I hope too that the oracle games (as virtual console games), ALttP (as a 3d classic), and MM3D (after the new 3ds Zelda, of course) will be made available-maybe throw in ports of TWW and FSA, too. That would be 15 out of 17 games on my special edition 3ds, making it really the best Zelda console ever. This is of course wishful thinking, and I highly doubt all of those will happen, but if it did happen I'd buy every single one (that I don't already own). Make it happen, Nintendo!

Re: Pikmin 3 Development Going "Extremely Well"

Ashflow

I hope it's for the 3DS, but I doubt it. It's been in development for awhile now (almost a year before the 3DS was even announced). Although, Miyamoto did say this: "My basic idea is that the sense of the depth of the game and the simplicity of the control will all be there."

Notice the word DEPTH.
