Nintendo appears keen to spread the word about its Girls Club YouTube channel, and to help do so it's recruited Olympic gold medalist Nicola Adams.
Featuring games such as Tomodachi Life and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Nicola expresses her fondness for the 3DS and indulges us in her gaming past. Starting out on the SNES with games like Street Fighter II it's no wonder that boxing is what she's known for internationally.
Nintendo seems to have missed a trick by not including Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS in the video – given what Nicola won her medal in – but it's not impossible for us to see another video in a similar fashion at some point in the future that features the iconic beat-em-up.
Do you think Nintendo is on the right track with this campaign? Let your opinions fly in the comments section.

I'm glad Nintendo is putting more visibility on gaming for girls. I felt like such a leper growing up because I was the only girl I knew that was an avid gamer.
...Now if more companies would acknowledge that we play more than barbie's dream house that would be great. Not that anything is wrong with that but it can send the message that these are the only games that girls will enjoy.
Could have been something, but it's just one big ad.
Ugh, the I'm dying of cringe here, it's so incredibly awkward : / well, at least it feels genuine
GUYS... she just said "Pokemon White" for X/Y... you'd think they'd ask her to try that take again xD
@PvtOttobot
Nah, she said "Y", not White. Just the accent that makes it sound similar.
@Ashflow xD yeah, I think you're right, my blunder
Fantastic i am a big fan of Nicola Adams and watched her fights at both games on telle she is amazing i bet she loves punch out and little mac on smash bros. Not only is she amazing and knows her games but comes from the snes era i just know she's got to love Super punch out.
Yeah, I liked that
@PvtOttobot Are you sure she didn't say "Y"? Because I made that same mistake today with someone playing pokemon.
Where is the gamer boys club?
@Kyloctopus read two posts down
Huh, I thought it was gonna be McKayla Maroney. She's pretty much the the only pro athlete I know personally.
@97alexk
Basically everything that's not this is the gamer boys club.
@97alexk Seriously? You see an ad that is positive reinforcement for girls and women playing games and your reaction is to complain about it? This ad is not a detraction of guys playing games it is merely a positive way to show girls that they aren't alone and playing games and here is a popular role model to act as a spokesperson for that positive message. Do you complain when you see ads with guys talking about games that they play or just playing with their friends? I suspect you don't. Ask yourself why not.
Everytime I play Mario Kart 8, I always get matched up with at least 2 female players and sometimes more than that, we definitely have a lot of gamer girls on the Wii U and I think Nintendo is acknowledging that.
Didn't like this video at the beginning. It just felt so clear that she was reciting lines nintendo gave her. But it started feeling a bit more genuine when she started talking about tomodachi life and some of the other games, which was nice
Well, that was a lot better than the first couple of videos to spawn from this Girls Club thing.
@Ryu_Niiyama I dont really know what your trying to say here, but i was half-joking. Because feminism is such a huge deal now all over the world, im not against it at all, i just make fun of the situation, nothing more really.
