Recently we showed off twenty-five minutes of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Classic mode, so today we're going to focus on the all-new and 3DS-only Smash Run mode.
This mode is a little different from anything that's gone before, with a five minute prep time on an oversized stage filled with random adversaries ranging from Mario's iconic Bullet Bills to Sonic's Eggrobo's and even Dig Dug's Pookas.
During these five minutes the object is to boost your characters stats as much as possible by collecting the power ups that appear after defeating enemies, opening chests and completing challenges before moving on to the final battle which could be anything from a variation on a standard Smash brawl to an obstacle race to the finish line.

Can this be played in Single player mode, or is it strictly a multiplayer mode?
Why didn't you use powers? They would have been sooooo useful. Well thanks for another look at Smash Run anyway.
I've been wondering this for a long time, and it seems obvious but I've never actually seen it, can you encounter other players during the first part of Smash Run? One of the reasons City Trial is so great is that everyone is trying to destroy each other even before the stadium event starts!
Awesome. I can't wait to play that mode. Definitely looks like it will be a blast to play.
@mystman12 Yes.
Powers and equips will be something to get used to here. For anyone with the demo the tips page gives tips for smash run which include what various enemies do (if you need to further wet your appetite, Koffing for instance can lower stats).
Looks fun, new take on such an awesome game. Love the music too, headphone made it feel i was playing it. the demo only has one song. 3rd Oct can't come soon enough
Came for the enemies, stayed for DAT PUNCH OUT REMIX!
Such a shame this can't be played online...I'll have to play against CPU's I guess

@Sionyn That's really nice of you! Too bad I live in NA.
Nintendo sez: "Oh, and here's a brilliant platformer to play along with our brilliant brawler. You're welcome."
@Sionyn thank you very, very much!!!
@DandyDermont I can't watch the video. I am almost out of data on my phone. Video eats up a lot of it.
Won't spoil it, but still cool.
2 NA codes:

No idea why I still have them, sorry for holding out guys!
@Ashflow
I've been to this site a lot but never joined. But, I had to create an account to thank you for finally helping me get a demo code!
I lured out a lurker! Haha.
You're welcome! Thanks for posting your claim, too. It's always nice to see evidence you've helped a NLifer instead of a random stranger.
Wow, this is so much better than Subspace Emmissary.
And to think I was worried about having a good single player mode. I'm sorry I doubted you Sakurai. Never again!
Looks good, I can't stand the wait, I don't even have the demo yet.
Why does this music sound so familiar?
They ain't talkin' about nuthin'.
