Re: Poll: What Do You Think of My Nintendo and Miitomo?

AlexMurphy

@kenrulei "okay now picture if the digital games all work with nx and physical games wont. this is one possibility that could happen."

Well, I would imagine that Nintendo will put off alot of old Nintendo fans for good... in the end, why staying loyal when they just turn around and tell you to stick it up where the sun doesnt shine if you dont buy the new console. I think its a step back, but we will see how the public sees it.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of My Nintendo and Miitomo?

AlexMurphy

@saturdave " don't feel as though this purchase was a waste of my money. If I wanted to waste my money I would burn it, instead of giving it to the developers of games I feel deserve every penny. Obviously you don't see it that way."

Sorry what? You prefer to burn money? Read what I wrote, I say if you dont care about money what kind of evil person you have to be to not give it to people in need? Instead you say you are too lazy (i sincerly apologize if you are e.g. in a wheelchair) and prefer to burn it ...

Awful.. but well, look at the world today. Guess where thats coming from.

Re: Feature: Breaking Down the My Nintendo Loyalty Economy, Again

AlexMurphy

Alot of "seems" inside the article.. well, I encourage everyone to do their own math based on this:

Discounts - Marked 'Just for You', so may vary per user
20% off Mario Kart 7 (3DS) – 700 Platinum Points
20% off Yoshi's Woolly World (Wii U) - 600 Platinum Points
20% off Pullblox World (Wii U) - 150 Platinum Points
20% off The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS) - 300 Platinum Points

Try to find any of these games MORE expensive around than in the Eshop and then try to make sense of the "rewards" ... have fun

Please, I understand the people who are bound to wheelchairs or have other disabilities that restraints them from leaving their chair, but for the others, these are not rewards. Someone on Reddit should have a look at your "article" or publish it straight on the official Nintendo site. I thought you are supposed to help ... well done.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of My Nintendo and Miitomo?

AlexMurphy

@Ogbert " Everything is now linked and you'll earn coins that you can get free stuff and discounts with for doing what you're already doing. Again I don't know what people expected?"

Im expecting not to get ripped off when doing the maths. The discounts are useless. Take a look at Mario Kart.. you can buy it EVERYWHERE cheaper in its physical form, so why waste time to get an discount on an overpriced digital title you cant sell? Sure they make money, thats the point, I just dont like getting robbed, no matter how many fancy colors and cute little icons they offer... i like money just the way they do. Else I can also sell you an overpriced used game and on top i paint a smiley for you.

Wait for more negative reviews online... now that Nintendo has entered the open world, they cant hide away with these scams anymore.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of My Nintendo and Miitomo?

AlexMurphy

@saturdave "Sure I lost out on £5 but I think I would rather spend that extra money to get those games immediately without having to go through the hassle of going out, buying the game, then trading it in to get my money back."

Not sure what you try to explain but if you value money so little, please donate some money to people in need next time. Apart from that, once you are done playing your digital games, grow out of it or get tired, you can just as well thrown them in a trashbin, cause you cant sell anything. So if thats all a "hassle", save up some money for an electric chair to move you around, perhaps your feet are too "lazy".... come on... this must be trolling.

Re: My Nintendo and Its Rewards Are Live

AlexMurphy

@NodesforNoids
"Worst. Fans. Ever."

If you like throwing away money why dont you donate it to a good cause instead? If you would have followed the comments, this is not about bashing the games, its about Nintendo ripping off their clients even more. I assume you do have mathematics in your school, so do the math instead of trolling convincing kids to get the "great discounts". Rather tell them where to buy it cheaper and YES own a physical copy cause your digital one is worth zero.

Time will tell, but right now your contribution seems like a paid-response by Nintendo, well done.

Re: My Nintendo and Its Rewards Are Live

AlexMurphy

@Andrzej777 I agree - this version of a "rewards"-system is rotten. Since these rewards and points are virtually just a way to waste your time without "benefiting" from it (amazing discount offers, they should advertise them for blind people), its funny that e.g. signing up with some videogame vendors like gamestop.com and ordering your physical copies will get you more rewards (through the loyality program) than this joke of a "Nintendo Club".

Bottom line, at least for me, Nintendo has gone ruthless trying to trick people with an even weirder scheme and especially regarding kids its easier to steal from. With no physical goodies/collectors items available, im sure even your local walmart will reward you better buying Nintendo products with its loyality program than this - cause you actually receive something.

A shame, but somehow Im not surprised... Nintendo is all about smiles & colors, but behind the scenes it seems to be sociophatic and dark.

Re: My Nintendo and Its Rewards Are Live

AlexMurphy

Here is a nice comedy of the so called "discounts". So when you collect your "points" you are e.g. entitled to swap them for a 20% discount on the digital copy of SUPER MARIO KART 7

Funny, it costs 44.99 (!) Euro in the E-Shop (hahah), while you can buy it regularly from Amazon or any reputable shopping platform (online or offline, like even Mediamarkt) for 37.99 - a physical copy with box, which you can also sell off. 20% of 44.99 is around 8.99.

So in the best case scenario you are saving 2 euro, after COLLECTING point and spending time doing so, cause the 20% are based on fantasy (why is Nintendo even doing this? For parents it looks like fooling kids) and on top, your digital copy cant be sold. Why the digital is more expensive than retail is another mystery but continuing to run this scams by offering discounts on overpriced digital stuff is the same old ... no matter how many more colors they add.

The other "discounts" like Super Mario 3D, you have to first spend real money on overpriced titles to collect points to get a discount .. hahaha... amazing. Some trade commission should look into this and fine them for ripping off kids as most wont notice i guess.

3 thumbs down, Nintendo.

Re: My Nintendo and Its Rewards Are Live

AlexMurphy

At the end of the day, just different design and weird 3-way point system to make sure you wont be getting anything really for free ... anyway, thats Nintendo. If they needed that long to come up with a software like "Miitomo" (very underwhelming so far), it will probably take another year until it has any valuable functions. Great I can enter my favorite food and another "friend" can guess it right and get useless points... really great, in case I get bored I can spend real money to "dress" my Mii...amazing, Im sure the target audience between 5 and 15 might love it due to their parents creditcard but how about they actually release some real interactivity software. This whole point collecting stuff is even worse than the old one (right now at least) - you are forced to spend money on overpriced e-Shop titles... another thumbs up.
Bahh... well, not that anyone expected them to actually offer a real "Online Nintendo World" - where everyone can interact, they released this... good start, especially limiting already the amount of friends. Funny but expected.

Re: My Nintendo and Its Rewards Are Live

AlexMurphy

@hefferj
"You can get Metroid Fusion with the purchase of a €40.00 eShop title. That is pretty damn good."

I dont think thats anywhere close to damn good. It doesnt even pass as simply good. As long as Amazon and others are selling EVERY title in its physical form cheaper than a download title - what exactly im getting for free?

Its the same Nintendo policy as before, you barely get any good deals but time will tell with this new platform. Right now, simply mathematics tell you its worth zero.

Re: 3DS Hack Removes the Need for Flashcards to Play ROMS and Supports GBA Games

AlexMurphy

@unrandomsam

There is no ARM7 cpu in the 3DS - the logic is that the more powerful ARM9 CPU can be underclocked to behave like an ARM7 (the link of yours refers to it but in a technical way) and on this point actually the previous poster was correct - now that I think of it. The 3DS, through this underclocking, is able to behave like a GBA and run the game on the hardware. The downside is that, when running the game, its a GBA in your hands with no functions of the 3DS so no extra features possible.

One solution for Nintendo would have been to recompile GBA games for the different instruction set of the ARM9 and offer it through the Eshop, but I guess the costs would have been too high. Another would have been to keep on developing an actual emulator (like they have for GB,NES,GENESIS). They didnt but could have.... anyway, Sanderevers was right with the Ambassador games, these were run through an underclocked ARM9 and thus like on an actual GBA. If it all you could say they emulated the cpu...

Re: 3DS Hack Removes the Need for Flashcards to Play ROMS and Supports GBA Games

AlexMurphy

The idea of emulating ANY game (even the old gameboy) on e.g. a 3DS cant be ever "perfect" cause the hardware simply cant emulate a gameboy 100%, its too weak. Even for a full emulation of SNES games on the pc, you would need some serious hardware (Quadcore CPUs wouldnt even be able at the moment). The people dont get that emulating 100% is not the same as playing a game appearing to be "perfect". There are many discussions in the emulating scene about this and yes, for your eyes it looks 100%, for your brain as well, but the idea of "perfect emulation" is far from it. So Nintendo doesnt do any different than all the regular emulators when using software to emulate an old game. Its a whole different story when the hardware is compatible with the old games, e.g. like Wii on Wii u or DS on 3DS. Regarding the GBA ambassador titles, there werent any issues with the games, they were running fine, no slowdowns or whatever but there were no extra options that you usually have when running a VC game. So, a GBA game was running outside of the 3DS enviroment, you werent able to go to miiverse or other gimmicks. Having said that, Nintendo surely could have also improved on it (fans of emulation manage to do it now but the 5 billion $ cooperation called Nintendo doesnt manage? nahh)...at the end of the day its a business decision by Nintendo and of course they will state whatever fits their current mood.

Re: More Club Nintendo Goodies Coming To The European Stars Catalogue

AlexMurphy

New releases dont have any more codes for registration, but the retail stuff in the 3DS shop still has stars listed to be credited when purchased. Nintendo has a weird policy cause for some of that stuff people would buy games just to get the stars for it. Ebay-wise, good luck, this is gonna be really expensive... the Luigi 2 diorama alone is currently at around 100-150$ and some 200.

Re: Nintendo Download: 21st May (Europe)

AlexMurphy

Woah, when I thought its virtually impossible to offer any worse titles for the 3DS ... look at this week. Is it possible to show any different that Nintendo doesnt care about the 3DS anymore? You can bundle all of that into a 500 stars download package. By offering this stuff, Nintendo should also allow an option to WITHDRAW money from the Eshop because no way i will spend a cent on any of that crap, now or in the future.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Modest Sales Targets Keep Wii U and 3DS Expectations Under Control

AlexMurphy

Once Nintendo joins the rest of the world and doesnt act like a prison-camp, things will be better but it took them ages to realize that their harsh-online politics are not in line with todays demands (forbidden to share friendscode on 3DS in their own Miiverse, anyone?). Its all about connections, information and sharing and their way to do that so far put off alot of people... their games are great, but the potential was never used online.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th May (North America)

AlexMurphy

New Super Mario Brothers would be a perfect title for the 3DS ... but no, lets mess it up again. Many pointed out the 3D Classics are now the VC releases... ok, but whats the problem offering for example NSMB on both, Wii U and 3DS?

Re: Nintendo Download: 30th April (Europe)

AlexMurphy

@Grumblevolcano But if its true and I dont doubt that European law is certainly responsible for alot of short-comings in terms of services (e.g. due to data protection), then who decided to reduce this weeks retail titles like transformers, turtles etc.? I mean, others are telling the Nintendo Shop how much to charge for it? Why is it possible to reduce Transformers and not Mario Kart? Following the logic, it would mean european Law and retailers are forcing Nintendo to reduce prices for the stuff that nobody would pay fullprice anyway? Angry Birds is a prime example (39.95 .. that game has been for 5 euro in Toys R Us way before EShop decided this week to reduce to 9,95). Anyway, thanks for the answer.. its just frustrating to check the weekly 3DS shop lately.

Re: Nintendo Download: 30th April (Europe)

AlexMurphy

Here is a question for Nintendo (and their army of marketing people):

So, after seeing yet another wonderful week of nothing for the 3DS (btw. releasing a new 3DS with zero support software/games-wise apart from Xenoblades, big clap on the shoulder, guys!), I went to check around where else I can buy stuff from/for the EShop (download codes).

So, how is it possible that Mario Kart 7 is currently "FOR SALE" nearly everywhere you can buy download codes (mmoga, online-gold, gamesrocket etc.) for 23.99 but in your amazing OWN shop I have to pay full price and instead you offer a trilogy of crap that you will find in the bargain bin (Transformers, Turtles, Spiderman 2 and ANGRY freaking BIRDS). What is this and why? If that 3DS browser would be useful, the real 3DS Shops with real weekly discounts are to be found on the web but NOT in that EShop. How about for next week you also release an uninstall-option for it?

Yes, im not happy, cause for 3DS owners the shop is like a comedy and just because I have some balance on it, doesnt mean I want to spend it on crap. Is it too hard to offer something like Dream Team Bros for 50% off once (50% off YOUR retail price that hardly anyone on this planet is paying anyway)? Too hard to make the same offer on Mario Kart that is on right now? Too hard to offer ANY Nintendo quality game with a discount?

Is this Eshop actually run by Nintendo or outsourced to some dodgy company thats paying Nintendo some license fees? Else i really really dont get it... and yea, I have been (and still am) a Nintendo Fan since NES times...but Nintendo is collecting new all-time lows like Mario his coins.

Re: Nintendo Download: 30th April (Europe)

AlexMurphy

Another "fantastic" week for 3DS owners. Recently it looks more like they want to turn garbage into gold. Is it seriously too hard to offer any decent games? What kind of joke is that "discount" for the retail stuff? I can find that cheaper literally ANYWHERE in the city and theres a reason for it...not even worth half the price. Problem with Nintendo is, that 90% of all times something is "cheap", its also exactly what u pay for. Poor games/quality. How about you release some real games with discount? How about you actually release some NINTENDO games with discount? "Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark (Activision, €19.99 / £14.99 until 13th May, normally €39.99 / £29.99)" - uhhh until 13th of may only... and then what? will be given out for free on the streets? I think not even in North Korea on the blackmarket someone would be pay 39.99 for it and yea, lets wait another month and you can get it for 9.95 anywhere but the 3DS discount shop.
