Update #3 [Sat 10th Aug, 2024 14:30 BST]:
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP pre-orders are now live on the Switch eShop! Once again, you'll get a 10% discount if you pre-order or purchase a copy early. The CEO has also shared some art with this reminder:
Update #2:
Dragami Games has now announced Switch digital pre-orders for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will go live on 9th August 2024. It's priced at $44.99 / £37.99 but will be discounted by 10% for pre-orders and early purchases, reducing it to $40.49 / £34.19 or the regional equivalent. A new pre-order trailer has also been released, which you can check out above.
Update #1 [Tue 6th Aug, 2024 01:35 BST]:
It seems Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will now be returning sooner rather than later, with Dragami Games announcing the game is launching in North America, Europe and other regions on 12th September 2024 (instead of the 26th September 2024) for $44.99 USD.
Original article [Fri 14th Jun, 2024 02:15 BST]:
We first heard Lollipop Chainsaw would be getting a remake back in 2022, and now the first official trailer for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has dropped, confirming it will arrive for Switch and multiple other platforms on 25th September 2024.
This updated version of the Grasshopper Manufacture title, by developer Dragami Games, is described as the "definitive version" of the game, leaving the story "unchanged" and instead focusing on quality-of-life improvements and additional gameplay content. The scene is set in the first trailer, which features the "legendary zombie hunter" Juliet.
As noted in the trailer, the game comes with two modes - the 'Original mode' based on the original release and RePOP mode, which includes less violence and uses pop-art damage effects.
According to some PR (via Gematsu), fans can expect "full HD", improved load times, "sped up" chainsaw action (along with the introduction of a "Chained Hits Hunting" system), adjusted input timings, improved "Chainsaw Blaster" action, and combo actions being accessible at the start of the game.
And as for additional gameplay content, there's a new pop art-inspired art style for damage effects, four new chainsaws, 30 costumes, four new hair colours, an expansion for Juliet's room, and a time attack mode with ranking features. A "worldwide" physical release of the game has been confirmed, with more details to be revealed at a later date. For now, here's a teaser of the box art courtesy Dragami Games CEO Yoshimi Yasuda:
The original Lollipop Chainsaw game made its debut on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012 and was collaborative effort between video game icon Goichi 'Suda51' Suda and the filmmaker James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy). While it never quite took off like certain other Grasshopper games it has developed a bit of a cult following over the years.

More Grasshopper games are always appreciated.
I missed this on PS3 originally, but great to have this on Switch. Right up my alley.
Sweet! I’ll probably end up picking this up since I don’t have an Xbox to play the original anymore. Hopefully we get some good reviews, I’ve been dying to finally replay this game!
And I’ve said this before, and I will say it again - a Travis Touchdown x Juliet Starling crossover game needs to happen!
I have heard of this game yet have never seen gameplay. It looks fun and the contrast of the main character to the world and villains designs are pretty funny, plus chainsaw, definitely a game I will pick up at some point.
They finally announced it! This game is absurdly rare on PS3 and 360.
Day 1 purchase for me!
Never saw the No More Heroes 3 on Switch only PS5 versions. I'm just get Switch versions instead.
I can buy this for PS3, thing is it's $200 physical. I get buying a console for that price but a single game and the condition I forget if it is good or not, not worth the risk.
This remake coming out for any platform is probably more worth it. Unless the content handling changes.
I've seen enough footage/analysis of the old game. I've bought other hack n slash/character action/etc. I know I'll like it, it looks fun and has a lot of cool ideas and personality.
But never played a Grasshopper game. Only watched/researched details on some of their games.
Good! I hope it runs well. With Shadow of the Damned also getting a remake we will have a significant amount of Grasshopper’s output available on Switch. Still a few games left to account for but maybe we’ll get them too…
I’m proud to own a physical PS3 copy of the original, and I’ll be there for this!
On PS, not Switch, but still!
Gematsu actually has an interview up about this and they cite EXTREME as the publisher, but don't really explain where they got that info. Can anyone confirm? The new note this article has on "physical confirmed" may be part of that, but that just leads to further questions about Extreme and City Connection... Six-of-one the international goes to Freemode and that means you guys get Clear River, and we get stuck with dealing with the cousin. Again.
As well, I vaguely remember an interview saying Dragami had gotten the rights to ALL of "Kadokawa Games" original IP because Kadokawa wanted to focus purely on their three existing brands; Spike-Chunsoft, From, and ASCII and thought a generic Kadokawa Games was redundant, but the interview seems to suggest that ONLY Lollipop was transferred. Can anyone corborate on the legal status of games like TearRing Saga, Panzer Front, and/or God Wars?
I would ask on the Gematsu article directly, but I'm banned from that site. For reasons they won't tell me.
I hope it includes the Highschool of the Dead and Deadman Wonderland costumes!
@GameOtaku like the anime?
I’m conflicted on this. I really just wanted the original game, licensed music and all, remastered. This remake has had me worried for a while now. I just really hope it doesn’t disappoint. I still have my Xbox 360 copy and still find myself wishing they would just make it backwards compatible already. This probably won’t be a day one purchase for me since it seems like the physical release is coming sometime after the digital, but I’ll be keeping my eyes on it and hope it still has enough of the spirit of the original release.
Any word on how much was edited/censored?
Switch release?? Holy hell, that's frickin awesome

A fun game I had on the 360. Looking forward to revisiting it.
So glad to see this coming to the Switch!
@Spider-Kev nothing will be censored.
Awesome! I’ve wanted to play this for awhile ever since finding out James Gunn worked on it.
Zombie Revenge Dreamcast vibes. Cool.
@Zochmenos Being bad is a crucial element of campness, something being polished automatically makes it feel like a plant. This is why messy divas are gay icons and schlock horrors are camp classics, the rough nature resonates with people.
No any info about the dual audio option support? It's bad...
Edit: The game will feature dual audio option!
@JohnnyMind
@Liam_Doolan Why you haven't mentioned a such important detail?
@Snatcher
Yup exactly, there were some collaborative costumes. Although I feel like those will probably not be here.
@Cronodoug it isn’t rare at all on ps3 and 360. Just ridiculously expensive which says nothing about rarity.
Otherwise Pokemon emerald, a game selling 10m+ copies, would be crazy rare.

As long as Yasuda stays true to his promise not to censor the game I'll be picking it up day 1!
this feels like a game that might struggle on switch. hope not, it looks fun!!!
Was always interested in this for obvious reasons, hope it turns out well.
This was one of the first games where I kind of walked in on myself and thought “Jesus, what the hell am I playing? What on earth would my relatives think if they saw me playing this?”
Had this on the ps3 it was not bad but not great
I might give it a second chance if it go's on cartridge
But if not big skip from me.
@steely_pete aw ): I hope they can keep as much as possible. Thanks for confirmation.
People here has shown there concern for it being censored, I hope this doesn’t happen I would like the play the original experience, it probably wouldn’t stop me from playing it because it looks like something I would enjoy but it would be a shame.
My dad played this on the XBOX 360, and I played it, too. I loved hearing "Mickey," "Lollipop," and even Buckner & Garcia's "Pac-Man Fever" in the game. I hope the latter is kept in there.
Will wait for reviews to see if it runs well and looks decent enough for the hardware
@Snatcher
Yes the original had costumes from them as well as two other anime one other being Is This A Zombie.
Still have my original copy on PS3! It's one of my most prized games in my collection!
Will consider giving it a try at some point now that it's coming to Switch and really appreciate being able to choose between Original and RePOP mode, the more options the better when they're feasible - speaking of, thanks @Vyacheslav333 for the confirmation about dual audio!
Although neither creator is involved in this, I'm willing to to give it a shot if it's a decent remake
I think i will buy it instantly!
@YoshiAngemon From the information revealed so far, it sounds like "Lollipop" being used in the shop might wind up being the only licensed music retained in this version. The official word from the developer is that the soundtrack is based around new, original songs, BUT ALSO there's a Streamer Mode that replaces the shop music ("Lollipop") with an original song.
Really gonna miss Cherry Bomb playing on the title screen myself.
@GameOtaku man I know the chances are low but I hope they keep one of them! As those are some pretty cool choices!
Cool, I watched the cutscenes of this game back when all I had was Wii so will have to finally give the game a shot.
@Snatcher
Especially in keeping the legacy of HOTD alive. (Rest in peace Daisuke Sato)😢
looking at the box art for the switch version i am disappointed that Juliet's tummy was cropped out.
FREE THE TUMMY! IT'S WHERE ALL LIFE COMES FROM!!! 😭😭😭
Another game that didn't need a port/remaster etc. And to make it worse, it sounds like they are making the game easier (with having the combos unlocked from the start, faster chainsaw and adjust input timings etc.
Oh well, at least Grasshopper isn't wasting their time on this.
I didn't play original didn't even know what it was about but do remember seeing it in a game shop id prob buy remake it plays well on switch
Beautiful news. I adore everything about this game.
This trailer makes it look like a remaster and not a remake. Need some more info before committing.
still have my original copy.. during those years all the good dirty fun games came out
Definitely a Day 1 purchase for me, I really like the games cover art too. Looking forward to Shadows of the Damned remake to (another day 1)
I really hope Suda brings over Killer 7 and Killer is Dead and Diabolical Pitch to Switch.
Yes, please. The initial lack of Switch mentions was concerning but in the end they clearly didn't remake this Gen 7 gem into enough of a VFX bloat to challenge a Gen 9 portable.😄 Any game losing the shackles of pastgen home console exclusivity is good news, but one that once brought together folks like Suda51, James Gunn and Tara Strong (not to mention Eri Kitamura and Yoko Hikasa in Japanese VO) is a particular treat.
@Zochmenos 100%.
@GameOtaku same, the Crossover outfits were amazing (and the world of 2024 is not ready to learn of the existence of Manyuu Hikencho and I REALLY want it to xD)
@nhSnork I imagine the reason why they didn't announce the Switch version before was because this project was originally gonna be a Remake, but they scaled it down to be a remaster instead.
Seems like a great chance to go through this on the move! Could be a great hack 'n' slash.
Interesting there doesn't appear to be an issue with this game in the same way there was with Stella Blade
The remaster/remake looks good.
I played the original game on Xbox 360, really fun.
The extra costumes were cool (I liked the Saeko costume)
The only thing I didn't liked were some of the QTE's (too fast)
About the music, hopefully Heroes Of Our Time, Mickey and Lollipop are still in the game.
Haha nice! i look forward to it.
Loved this game since day one (and keep PS3 plugged to play it once in a while), I will buy it physical on switch and digital on xbox or PS5
Always down for GM, and never played this. So this and Shadows of the Damned will finally get love from me.
@ottoecamn good thing, too. Unless you're really out to change the engine and/or overhaul the gameplay/UI (or maybe unless you honestly misplaced the entire code), the majority of Gen 7 games hardly seems like something in need of a remake.
@nhSnork indeed. and there was also the legit concern that they might try to "Modern Audience" it. thankfully the Devs have been very forthcoming about not removing any of the outfits or censoring the game in and form. the only thing that is still up in the air is the Anime crossover costumes but I hope they somehow manage keep those in (though I belive people will understand if those don't come back since it'd be a licensing issue)
Argh I really hope I can find some reviews that tell me it’s worth it on switch. I can’t keep pretending I care about undocked when I never play that way.
I do like my Xbox but for some reason I want as many games as I can on the switch lol.
@ottoecamn I'm not familiar with this series. Can you tell me more about the original? It looks pretty much like a hack n slash from the trailer
I don't know whether a zombie chainsaw game will benefit from a lower violence, censored mode. Not really what I think most fans of zombie games would want.
@Snatcher hope you enjoy!
Edit: I apologize for the random ping. I thought this was a brand new article until I spotted my old comment. Carry on >.>
@Lightsiyd it is. The original was a 3d beat em up created as a collaboration between Suda51 (of No more Heroes fame) and James Gunn. It's a really fun game.
@ottoecamn Thanks.
I hope this gets high marks and positive reviews so more folks will purchase this and inspire the studios to pump out more remasters of classics such as these.
@Spider-Kev
Won't get any kind of real answer until the game is out. There will no doubt be some, hopefully it's minimal.
The same month as the Dead Rising Remake. Yikes.
To be fair, I've never played this, but I've also never liked one game by Suda51. Personally I think Suda51 games are overrated.
Ah, so they've replaced Jimmy Urine as Zed. I wondered if that might happen. I guess his contributions to the OST have likely been replaced too.
@Darthmoogle This is not a remake, the production was downgraded to remaster a while ago.
The disclaimer at the start of video implies that the remake is censored, and how I read it, you can play with the original uncensored version- but then you don’t get full hd, etc?
I don't like that the Physical Pre-orders close BEFORE any reviews can come out!
I didn't keep a strict count but I think there are at least five different men discussing Juliet's various costumes and outfits in this comment section alone (an observation, not a criticism).
In contrast, there are a bunch of guys who have made belittling comments about Princess Peach and Princess Zelda's outfit changes in their respective games. Why aren't they here in this comment section, complaining that this game features dress-up? Didn't you know it's pathetic when female characters wear different outfits?
There's a definite pattern; those guys have a similar mindset (or may even be the same individuals, idk) as those on here who sneer at and make contemptuous remarks on articles covering games deemed "girly" or, shock, horror, "feminine" particularly when the games have a cute aesthetic, are fashion-themed and aimed at a female demographic.
Why the big difference in attitudes between these games, characters, and their outfits? Rhetorical question. We all know why.
In real life, people wear certain outfits in order to carry out their jobs safely and effectively, e.g. firefighters, paramedics, police officers.
Yet when princesses wear different outfits to reflect their roles/activities in their games, it's merely playing dress-up and is deemed worthy of male contempt.
Guys like that really should take an honest look at themselves and strive to become better humans.
The third seiyû for Juliet Starling is Yukari Tamura!
@JohnnyMind
Doesn't sit right with me this game being on Switch as I thought Nintendo games were supposed to be family friendly Nintendo should have blocked this release.
I'm starting to wonder if this is an advertisement. I feel like this "story" has been on the front page of NL for weeks.
@wizzgamer Well it's not a Nintendo game, plus Nintendo allows pretty much almost every third party developer to bring their game to the system. They just pretty much need a rating on their game. Any game rated as Adult only or has no rating is not allowed.
@wizzgamer
You should see the amount of risque games that are on Switch!
Check out Perky Little Things! It's on the eshop
@FredsBodyDouble
They keep reposting old articles. Look at the comment dates
@Vyacheslav333 Nice, thanks for telling me!
