Whats does it wants, precious? It wants a new trailer, does it? GOLLUM. GOLLUM.
The upcoming Lord of the Rings: Gollum game is due to come out on September 1st on PlayStation and Xbox, but has no release date on Switch still.
But at least we gets this new trailer, precious — as well as a little snippet of information on the game:
After losing his precious ring to Bilbo Baggins, Gollum decides to leave the Misty Mountains and embark on a perilous journey across Middle-earth, where he encounters well-known characters from the books as well as new potential allies and antagonists.
It’s up to the players if they want Gollum to have the upper hand when making important decisions, or allow his Hobbit-self, Sméagol, to take over. To survive the dangers he encounters during his adventures, Gollum must use all of his cunning to distract and sneak past enemies while climbing and platforming across the vertically-designed environments.
We've shown you the environment art before, but it's very pretty, so here it is again:

Couldn't afford Andy Serkis than. Looks good though.
It’s a little hard to get used to a different voice for Gollum, but that’s in no way a deal breaker for me. Looks great, I have a huge soft spot for LOTR so very excited for this one
I think it looks good. A little rough around the edges, but solid overall. Performance is the key with this one. If the framerate and resolution stay high enough, this could be a sleeper hit. It almost looks like they're developing the game on the Switch then are Up Resing it for other platforms.
Is someone asking for a Gollum game? This looks Troll and I levels of bad.
Cautiously optimistic. Looks better than I thought.
Looks like it could be decent....but why is this a game? And why now?
It's slightly weird, but we'll see how it turns out.
I love this and want to marry it. There is so much potential in Gollum's story if this is made with love, and it looks like it is. He is a strong contender for best character in the Lord of the Rings, and his story could be more interesting to play than any of the heroes' tales. It can also make this one of the coolest games to play, with tremendous vertical action and stealth.
The trailer does a great job selling it, too. Sure, it's not Andy Serkis, but it sounds like Gollum, the music is killing it and it looks beautiful.
Count me in the "cautiously optimistic" crowd.
This trailer makes me interested in the game finally. I like the stylistic departures they’ve taken from the movies. I almost wish they’d taken a different approach for Gollum, maybe done a new style of voice. But I guess the movies just really nailed it.
Where are the puzzles? There are no puzzles in the video
Considering the art style and voice acting from the LotR movies is so good and unique, I think they did a really good job creating another style for this game, more fantasy oriented. Looks pretty good so far, I'll keep an eye for it release date.
From a hands on thing I read it seemed they found it really shallow and linear with any upgrades you acquire being kind of meaningless. Adding the fact there's no punishment for being caught besides going back to a checkpoint and doing it all over, I'll be passing. Then again I've only liked LOTR to use to fall asleep to. Just don't see this being very good.
Smeagol Gear Solid.
Hoping it's going to at least be good but, I have some major doubts about this one...
Are you guys joking in the comments? Game looks horrible
