Nintendo has a bit of a history of employing some famous faces to help advertise its games, and with something like Nintendo Switch Sports, it's the perfect opportunity to partner up with some huge sporting names. And that's precisely what Nintendo has done in Australia.
Lleyton Hewitt, Australian tennis player and former world number 1 who won the US Open in 2001 and Wimbledon the following year — has partnered with the Big N to show everyone just how to hit a ball on the court.
Along with his son Cruz, who himself is a tennis champion after winning the junior tennis clay-court title in Canberra in 2021, Lleyton shows off the upcoming sports game's motion controls and two-player mode. And Cruz definitely shows him how it's done. The pair also hit the bowling alley together, with Lleyton getting the last laugh.
Other celebrities that Nintendo has employed over the years are Serena Williams for Mario Tennis Aces and Just Dance 2021, Christina Aguilera for the Switch itself, and of course Robin and Zelda Williams back in the day.
Nintendo Switch Sports is out in just a week, and we've had some hands-on time with the game. Of the time we've spent with it so far, we think it Has Great Highs, But Disappointing Lows, but we're hoping the full release will alleviate those concerns!
Will you be picking up Switch Sports on 29th April? Let us know.

Boxing, please.
No Boxing = No buy
great commercial.. god I miss this "COME Oooonn"!! hahaha
Yeah, you can throw more famous sports people in there but I'm still not convinced this will be any good.
I hope I'm wrong but I think they've spent more budget on the advertising than the game itself.
Let's hope they prove me wrong.
@Anti-Matter,
Are you sure you want boxing, it's just you have never mentioned it before.
Hope it is released later like golf.
I’m guessing this ad will be exclusive to the Australian market. There are a fair few other ads featuring Australian media figures, including a Ring Fit Adventure ad with Isla Fisher which I’ve seen a bunch of times on TV.
I just think it’s stupid that the censors gave this a PG. All previous instalments were G rated and the original even had boxing. No wonder parents are finding the classification system to be contradictory and mostly useless when they make these sorts of stupid (and contradictory) decisions.
@johnvboy
I really want Boxing sport got more appreciation as other sports as I still felt a discrimination in sports favoritism.
And if Boxing got the choice in Switch Sports, I really want to see at least ARMS style control to unleash jab / hook / uppercut from swinging the Joy Cons and ability to move around by rotating the left analog.
Also, please take off the shirts for the boy characters, it's boxing anyway. Male boxers look better in shirtless than with top outfits in my opinion.
I hope they have a commercial with Mike Tyson. Why? Well go Google it to find out.
@Anti-Matter,
Like I said in a previous article comment section, include those guys in your avatar, I would not like to be battered around the ring by those two, I can tell you.
Omg Lleyton Hewitt! I loved watching him play tennis growing up! So nice to see him featured for this game
I know this is a flaming hot take, but you are a fool if you buy something just because a famous person slapped their face on it for 10 mil.
Hewitt? Was Jon McEnroe already booked? That's a joke. Lleyton is a pretty cool guy. It's almost a shame his career was goblinized so much by Federer.
