Hey, if you're reading this and not playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe right now, thanks! But seriously, you can and probably should be playing through the courses added in Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass right now. We won't tell anyone.
To celebrate the launch, Nintendo has unveiled a launch trailer (above), which — if you haven't had the time to check the courses out yet — gives you a glimpse at all eight tracks on offer.
In case you you've been othrwise engaged over the last couple of weeks, here are the eight courses available to play from today:
Golden Dash Cup
- Paris Promenade (Mario Kart Tour)
- Toad Circuit (Mario Kart 7)
- Choco Mountain (Mario Kart 64)
- Coconut Mall (Mario Kart Wii)
Lucky Cat Cup
- Tokyo Blur (Mario Kart Tour)
- Shroom Ridge (Mario Kart DS)
- Sky Garden (Mario Kart: Super Circuit)
- Ninja Hideaway (Mario Kart Tour)
The best part about this DLC pass is, even if you can't quite afford to buy it yet, you can still play the courses online if you don't own them! From 21st/22nd March, if you have a standard Switch Online subscription, the Wave 1 courses will pop up in the 'Random selection' when playing Global or Regional races online. It's a bit hit-and-miss, of course, but sooner or later you'll get to race around the new tracks if you play online.
We've even got a little showcase of what the courses look and play like courtesy of the lovely Alex, Felix, and Zion from the NL YouTube team.
Have you tried out the new courses yet? Let us know in the comments.

I’ve seen complaints, but I have no complaints with what I’m seeing
@NinChocolate "I’ve seen complaints"
That's because people will always complain, no matter what.
I'll be home at 7:30pm this evening and I'll be booting this up immediately when I get home.
@NinChocolate Not really complaints more like light criticism, mainly in regards to the quality of the tracks in comparison to the base game which is understandable.
Are the new tracks enabled for online lobbies yet? I played a little last night, but it seemed they weren't added to online lobbies at that time.
@RubyCarbuncle if people are saying the differences are unsatisfactory, that’s a complaint.
@Ade117 21st March I believe.
@NinChocolate Yeah. 48 new tracks for 20 bucks. I can't see any problem with that.
The only problem is how long it takes before all tracks is released.
Give me those SNES tracks!
Did we really need 3 of the tracks to be from Mario Kart tour? Where is GameCube and SNES?
@quinnyboy58 yes - because those are the tracks that people who avoid mobile games haven't seen.
@ch37 I did not know this. I was playing on line wondering why the new tracks would not come up like @Ade117
I’m just okay. I’ll wait for a true successor.
