Loop Hero was a particularly pleasing reveal in Nintendo's August Indie World broadcast, and the good news is that the Four Quarters-developed title has made its target of a release in time for the Holidays - it hits the eShop on 9th December.
It was a massive success when it arrived on PC earlier this year, becoming a bit of a darling in the streaming scene thanks to its smart premise and addictive gameplay. You have the challenge of navigating dangerous timeloop expeditions, and on each trek you can use cards to influence various things. You can give yourself buffs, or even add new enemies and dangers to give you a chance to earn more loot on the loop. It's a risk / reward system, of course, as dying will set you back.
Below is some of the official description to help you get a handle on its concept.
Infinite Adventure: Select from unlockable character classes and deck cards before setting out on each expedition along a randomly generated loop path. No expedition is ever the same as the ones before it.
Plan Your Struggle: Strategically place building, terrain, and enemy cards along each loop to create your own dangerous path. Find balance between the cards to increase your chances of survival while recovering valuable loot and resources for your camp.
Loot and Upgrade: Strike down menacing creatures, recover stronger loot to equip on the fly and unlock new perks along the way.
Expand Your Camp: Turn hard-earned resources into campsite upgrades and gain valuable reinforcements with each completed loop along the expedition path.
Save the Lost World: Overcome a series of unholy guardian bosses over a grand saga to save the world and break the time loop of the Lich!
If it continues the strong momentum it found on PC this could certainly be a hit on the eShop. Let us know if it's going on your wishlist.

This game is a true not-so-hidden gem. It was the most refreshing thing I’ve played when I bought it months ago. And yes. I am 100% buying this on Switch on Dec 9th!
Thanks for sharing the release date- I’ve been clamoring ever since it was announced!
Special Reserve Games have also announced that they will start taking physical pre-orders for the game starting December 9th 2021, with an open pre-order window lasting until January 21st 2022.
Is this game any good for RPG fans?🤔
Nice! I’ll play it in 10 years when I’ve finished all of the other games I own! Lol
From the PC gameplay I've seen, it looks (and sounds) utterly fantastic. It's definitely going on my wishlist.
Though given my current focus is buying Xmas pressies for family, I might not be grabbing it Day 1. Might get it come Xmas Day instead
I've really been looking forward to this game. Can't wait to check it out.
@Greatluigi I wouldn't say it's an RPG, really. More of a simple strategy game with RNG elements and a roguelike structure. Your character does make progress and 'level up' in a way, but not in the way they would in a regular RPG. If you like games like Slay the Spire, or even some of the more active 'idle/clicker' games, you would probably enjoy this one, too (you lay down tiles to map out a route of monsters for your hero and all battles are then automated rather than being directly controlled by you, the player). It is weirdly compelling and easy to lose a few hours sending your little chap round and round an increasingly difficult route until he is ultimately overwhelmed (or you send him home to recover with all his loot).
@Zenchuk there’s no way I’m getting through my backlog by the time the next Nintendo console drops
I have a huge backlog of games. I can't WAIT to add this to it!
@Shadeon_Koopa likewise I've watched some YouTube plays (Northernlion, Pinstar) and it looks right up my street - like you I'm a huge Monster Train fan!
