Remember Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!? The launch of the first mainline Pokémon games on Switch feels like a small lifetime ago now, but The Pokémon Company has treated them to a charming festive new TV spot.
The games were hit with mixed reactions from fans when they were first announced – the ties to smartphone title Pokémon GO and the stripped-back nature of the games' RPG mechanics left some a little underwhelmed, but a cute reimagining of Pokémon Yellow's Kanto region and the introduction of Pokémon appearing on the overworld were real plus points.
It makes sense for a new ad to appear over Christmas; according to the latest official figures from Nintendo, the Let's Go titles haven't sold nearly as many copies as Pokémon Sword and Shield have. That's to be expected – historically, Pokémon remakes never sell as well as new generation games – but it can't hurt to give them another push over the holiday period.
Do you own a copy of one (or both) of the Let's Go games? Did you enjoy your time with it? Let us know in the comments.

For a 2 year old game
Let's Go Dunsparce and Let's Go Delibird for late 2021!!!
Shows the lack of games Nintendo have this year that they are showing games over 2 years old
I genuinely enjoyed my time with Let's Go Pikachu. Even as a more hardcore Pokémon fan, there was something nice about revisiting Kanto.
And, as the first mainline game to put wild Pokemon on the overworld and have 3D pokemon following you, it was actually groundbreaking in a few ways, even if it felt a bit basic or stripped back in others. Fun to play in co-op with my partner as well, since she likes catching Pokemon but isn't very into the battling - this was way more fun for her.
I am genuinely looking forward to Lets Go Johto (gotta be coming in 2021 or 22 right?) as these games were a breath of fresh air compared to the staleness of the mainline games. Sure they are very casual, but it certainly had the most charm of any recent Pokemon game.
No new Nintendo games for the holiday season so they repackage a remake to make it look like they have new content on Switch.
I own both, brings me back to the gameboy days
@ChaosBadger777,
Or they are perhaps going for customers that do not already own the console.
Switch sales will be insane this holiday season despite some on here saying there are no games.
I enjoyed these when I thought they were simply experimental games for the Switch but Sword and shield proved that they really can't do much better so I don't think I could enjoy these games anymore now. If I want my Kanto fix I'll just boot up the gen 1 games on my 3DS or the gen 3 remakes of them.
@johnvboy why aren't Nintendo using there big current releases to sell switch...........Oh Wait, they have to rely on remakes and ports as they have lost their creative direction and haven't released anything new or groundbreaking this gen.
@ChaosBadger777,
In your opinion, and with the massive sales of the system I would say you are in the minority.
@johnvboy what original games have Nintendo released on Switch?
I'm not saying the switch isn't selling well or its a bad console, but Nintendo have dropped the ball on software - its pretty much just been ports and sequels.
Labo was an interesting experiment but didn't go anywhere
God I just love pokemon.
@ChaosBadger777,
I think people want sequels don't they?, as long as the game offers new things then I am fine with it, and until this year which is a tough one with the pandemic, Nintendo have had a pretty good output on the Switch, with most of their major franchised already covered.
The ports of Wii U games is a difficult one, because all of those games did deserve a much bigger audience than was possible with the Wii U, so releasing them on the Switch was a good idea.
And of course after the Wii U's sales failure Nintendo have got a much wider audience this time round, many of which will not see any of these games as sequels or ports, as to them this will all be totally brand new content, so perhaps we need to look at this from not only our personal point of view.
I liked and enjoyed the games but I think everyone who wanted a copy already has the game(s)
Did we really needed to be reminded that this cancerous, stripped down casualized rehash they call a remake exists? We as a society have failed by allowing these games to exist, let alone sell. Just let these games die and ask for something better if you want to go back to Johto. They can and should give us much, much, MUCH more than that for a $60 Switch game, the Let's Go formula is pretty much a cheap $10 mobile game disguising itself as a $60 console game, and I have never seen a bigger ripoff in my entire life.
These games could've and should've done so much more... the amount of wasted potential is insane.
@Kiz3000 was another lets go game even confirmed?
@FluffiestP1llow No Just pure fan speculation
I really think they should discount these games to be like 39.99 or something. Like this could be the budget Pokemon game while Sword/Shield can be the more premium package.
Would rather play Pokémon unbound tbh
@Kiz3000 dang I got really excited there I would love another one
@Bolt_Strike lmao we as a society didn't fail because 2 pokemon games you dont like exists.
@Silly_G imo dunsparce is a bit redundant
I'll get this when the price goes down abit
@Bolt_Strike Or it has something to do with the fact that the target audience, which is kids around the age of the kid in the video, is primarily accustomed to mobile games and not nInTEnDo H@Rd NES games?
That may indeed represent a failure in society, but Pokemon isn't the symptom.
This is my favorite Pokemon game, I am not a huge pokemon fan.
I don't really care what anyone even the devs say, this is not a mainline game. It's a spinoff. Played it once and it was so-so but I seriously doubt I will ever revisit it.
@Silly_G Dunsparce is my FAVORITE pokemon so like, Count me in!
I'd love a new 2nd gen remake, done in the style of Links Awakening. I don't need /fancy/ 3d visuals, but imagine how stunning Gold/Silver/Crystal would look in that top down effects filled viewpoint!
Bit random, but I enjoyed it enough. Had it's problems, but some what made up for it with the extra post game content.
@redpanda0310 : Delibird even more so.
Das ze joke, mon.
@Heavyarms55 but if the devs said it was a mainline game that means its a mainline game.
@FluffiestP1llow Like I said, don't care. It's a spinoff.
@Heavyarms55 but you don't control what's a spinoff? It may be a spinoff in your eyes but as a whole it is in fact a main series title.
@FluffiestP1llow You can call green yellow, doesn't make it so.
@Heavyarms55 when the developers of the game call it a mainline game, it's a mainline game. You really think just because you say it isn't makes it so?
Love lets go. My eevee pretty much gives me the emotional succor of having a pet without having to take care of a living creature.
Also love heading back to my childhood. Kanto is best region.
@FluffiestP1llow No, we as a society have failed because 2 games which are cheap and minimalist in every way are being sold for top dollar and enough people are gobbling it up.
@NEStalgia I think you meant the cause. It's not the cause, no, but it is a symptom.
@FluffiestP1llow I think that someone can make and call something what ever they want. But a chef and make a pizza and call it pasta all they want, doesn't make that accurate.
@Heavyarms55 whatever man. Like it or not its a main series game lmao. When the actual developers of the game call it a main series game and they develop the other main series games, that makes it a main series game. End of story.
@FluffiestP1llow I'll return the favor: Whatever man.
@Silly_G I like delibird...
Cute so cute just so cute
