Opening up today's Nintendo Indie World Showcase was Hades, a roguelike dungeon crawler that'll be launching on Switch very soon indeed.
The game tasks players with hacking and slashing their way out of the Underworld of Greek myth, as explained in this tweet from Nintendo. The game's being developed by Supergiant Games and is planned to launch on Switch this fall.
For reference, Supergiant Games are the talented folks behind both Bastion and Transistor, so we have pretty high hopes for Hades when it does arrive on Nintendo's machine. This might well be one to keep an eye on.
Do you like what you've seen of this one so far? Think you'll be adding it to your Switch wishlist? Tell us below.

Roguelike.... eugh.
@XenoShaun What's wrong?
I've watched a bit of the PC version and it looks really good from what I've seen. I'm always down for a fun roguelite so will probably pick it up.
Good game, but where is the Pyre port?
Fantastic game, one of two I bothered picking up on Epic store (using that $10 coupon while on sale). Definitely willing to double-dip on this. Supergiant and Klei are some of my favourite developer right now, just delivering time and time again!
@Kalmaro Personally just had enough of the genre, and being a fan of the developer just disappoints me a little.
Though just my own preference and such.
@XenoShaun Ah, that's fair enough.
I going to give this a try. Like what Supergiant is doing over there.
Been playing this game on PC for a few months now. In terms of pure quality it's without a doubt the best rougelike out right now imo.
Supergiant have made another incredible game with this one.
This game looks interesting.
Game is a blast, and I'll gladly double dip on this one.
This is a very nice roguelike. But it's still a roguelike of which we have had tons and tons lately... Besides, it's been available on Epic and Steam for quite a while already.
Hard pass on switch.
I've had tons of fun with this one on the PC! It was a lot more fun than I had expected. Highly recommended. Just may pick it up for the Switch as well so that I can easily continue the fun on some long flights.
It’s GOTY for me so far, absolutely incredible. Honestly cannot wait for 1.0
This game has been getting raves across the board on PC. It's a big release for Switch, and it makes sense, too, what with Transistor and Bastion already on the eShop.
@Apportal It’s an isometric roguelike set in the Greek underworld. Not really anything like DOOM at all 😂😂
I like the games in the presentation.
I didn't like the narrators. Very pretentious and soulless. The woman also needs to work on her SSSS and ZZZZZZ sounds. They are piercing into your ears.
@Apportal HADES (ΑΔΗΣ) is the underworld in the Greek mythology. No connection to Doom.
I was hoping for some Spelunky news and had forgotten all about this game. Glad it’s on its way to Switch.
Probably the best announcement of the Indie World showcase. I love everything Supergiant do, and I’d far rather play this on Switch than PC.
Same goes for Pyre, BTW, if anyone from Supergiant Games is reading this...
I was sitting in a diner watching the Direct. It took A LOT of effort not to scream when this trailer started.
Edit: will second what @Krull said about Pyre. Would love to have the full set of games on the go.
The intro animation looks better than Netflix' Castlevania.
The animation looks really cool, and that's all I can say about this, I've never played a single roughlike game.
@Apportal Genuine question.. How does this look like doom?
@Apportal What about this tells you that this is similar to Doom? Doom is a first person shooter. Hades is a roughlike game. The only thing I can see similar to Doom is the setting in the underworld, and even then, a lot of games take place in the underworld.
@elias84631 So far Supergiant has said they don't have plans to port it to switch. It was a very unique game and really shows their chops in visuals and storytelling but it really didn't land with people the way bastion or transistor did, and it makes sense for them to focus on developing hades side by side with the switch version instead of putting time and money into a port Pyre. I want it to come too, but I get why they might not revisit it too soon.
HLTB has the main story at around 14.5 hours in length, does that sound about right from those who've played it?
@Apportal Excuse me? How? What?
@HotGoomba DOOM’s also usually set on Mars, with portal trips to the Underworld. I guess they’re both red?
It is a Supergiant Game. 'Nough said!
Imagine if people who enjoy Roguelike games felt the need to whine every time a non-rougelike game was announced. There's enough of a market for different types of games.
This is a great game and I can't wait to play this on Switch. This article doesn't mention it, but this game will have cross-save with the PC version which makes this even better.
Where Pyre at though
Awesome. This is one of the main games I've been waiting on a console port for. Looking forward to it, heard nothing but good things.
It is a good game. But tons of people already played this.
Cross save is cool for anyone who never finished it on PC - This should be a trend.
@XenoShaun It doesn't matter if you don't like it, don't make the first comment on the article an "eugh". I was so excited for this. I've known about this game for years and was awaiting a Switch release. Thanks for killing my joy.
This is an instant buy from me. Been playing early access for half a year and the game is absolutely incredible!
@ImmortanJho You shouldn't set up your joy for an announcement based on some strangers comment.
Also no clue why it is the first comment now. It was the 6th or 7th when I made it.
