It's the most wonderful time of the year for Nintendo's biggest star, as MAR10 Day pops up on our calendars once again.
Yes, as is now tradition, this particular day of the year is cause for celebration for those who love Super Mario. Why? Well, because 'MAR 10' looks just like 'Mario', so why not?
If you've missed the news, Nintendo actually started the celebrations early with a selection of very tasty discounts on top Mario games in North America and a scheme which gives players a 20% discount on select merchandise. If you're looking to pick up any goods featuring Nintendo's number one mascot, now's certainly the time.
We're also hosting our very own competition in partnership with the lovely folks over the Nintendo Official UK Store where you can get your hands on some lovely Super Mario Odyssey art prints. Make sure to enter if you haven't already.
Believe it or not, we've actually seen four new Mario games arrive on the scene since last year's MAR10 Day. Super Mario Maker 2 launched in June 2019, Dr. Mario World and Mario Kart Tour boosted his mobile offerings soon after, and then Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 launched in November.
It's hard to predict what this year will bring, but we wouldn't mind a Super Mario Odyssey 2...
Anyway, how are you planning to celebrate the special day? Will you make a new course in Super Mario Maker 2? Will you be loading up your old favourite Mario game? Let us know in the comments.

I would love Sunshine or Galaxy double pack on Switch. Never played Galaxy 2 and I feel I've missed out.
I think I'll pop in SMB3 and see if I can squeeze in a quick double-warp whistle Bowser run before work this morning. I've got a couple hours.
I'm expecting a Build-A-Bear Movie Sonic today. Is that blasphemy?
Today is my son's birthday. It's fortuitous that he loves Mario.
"It's hard to predict what this year will bring, but we wouldn't mind a Super Mario Odyssey 2..."
If only Nintendo had some way of telling us what games we could expect this year. Maybe they could hire a town crier to walk around ringing a bell - New Mario game this year, come hear about your new Mario game this year!
I think this guy is describing the new terraforming feature in ACNH.
I wouldn't mind Odyssey 2 either... Or at least Sunshine and/or 3D World ports for the Switch.
My son has vowed to only play games featuring Mario for the day. Although, that will probably mainly be Smash.

Happy Mario Day Everybody.
@IronMan30 happy birthday to your son
For those outside the United States, happy ioMar day.
Considering this year is the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. and 40th of Mario as a whole with the original Donkey Kong, you'd think we'd know more about Nintendo's plans for their flagship series this year...
To celebrate my favorite Nintendo hero of all time, I think I'll play some Super Mario Maker 2 and/or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tonight. Happy Mario Day, everyone!
@IronMan30 Wow, your son's lucky! Tell him that one of Nintendo Life's biggest Mario fans wish him a super-happy birthday.
I didn't read the tagline. I hummed it.
@MarioLover92 @AmplifyMJ thanks to you both!
Celebrated by wearing my Princess Peach shirt (even though she's not Mario, this is a Mario related shirt I have) and played Mario Kart Super Circuit on my GBA while I was out doing errands and had to wait for lunch.
I have a feeling people called Martin enjoy this day too.
Mario Day would have been the perfect time to drop an update for Mario Maker 2 or Super Mario World... Or heck, even just announce something. I don't understand why they didn't get any further updates when it really looked like they planned for that.
