Netflix has finally revealed when we'll all be able to sit back and binge-watch the entirety of its The Witcher series, treating us to a new 'main' trailer in the process.
The show will premier worldwide on Friday 20th December, with all eight episodes being available immediately. It was previously revealed that episodes would be an hour long and that it would be starring the likes of Henry Cavill as the titular Witcher, Anya Cholatra as Yennefer, and Freya Allan as Ciri.
Here's an official description of the show courtesy of Netflix itself:
"Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together."
You can set a reminder for the show on Netflix as we speak. Of course, you can always go ahead and play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition on Switch while you wait, too.

I'm interested, the show looks like it's going to be great! I'll probably binge it later down the road though, if I can.
Hoooo boy, it looks so much better than I was expecting. Brilliant.
That actually looks pretty good! I’m impressed.
Looks pretty good. A little too "pretty' after just finishing "Carnival Row" on Amazon Prime though, like they ran our of money for VFX or something. Though that's also how I feel about "The Mandolorian" ads I've seen for the Disney+ show, so maybe I just don't like how TV shows look these days, too much digital video and HD processing.
I'll watch it eventually. Maybe when season 2 releases so I can binge watch it beforehand.
Only one sword?
@StevenG Traditionally Geralt rarely fights humans. It makes sense for him to only carry around a silver sword.
This is one of many shows on different streaming platforms that I want to watch.
Witcher; Mandalorian; Picard; Star Trek Discovery
Just can’t justify and afford so many subscriptions.
finally, and it's a whole season, gives me something to watch over Christmas.
Will this show spoil the Witcher 3 game for me? Im still at lvl 15 (36 hours in)
@StevenG it’s based more on the books than the games. Only 1 sword in the books, the other was carried by Roach, at least from what I’ve read on the internet haha.
Looks like it's going to be epic.
@Berzerker The trailer claims to be based on the book series, so probably not. If it mentions nothing of the Wild Hunt then you should be in the clear.
@StevenG He only carries one sword on his back in the books which is a silver sword.
Where's EVIL WAGENIUS ON NETFLIX
Wait, The Witcher is based on a book?
@HeroponRiki yes, and a pretty old book too, the book series have been finished a few years ago. The witcher games are sequels to the books.
This also isn’t the first witcher live action show, there was also one based on the books in the 80’s or 90’s I think. But I think that was polish.
@darkswabber Yep, early 00s and was initially translated as ‘The Hexer’ from Polish. It is not very good at all.
Why aren't his eyes yellow?
@Berzerker It might, but the show isn't based on the games, but the books. Basically, there are three Witcher canons now - The show, the books, and the games.
@StevenG Its based on the books, not the video games
