Microsoft has just shown off the next instalment in the Minecraft series during its E3 brieflng, but what it didn't mention was that the game – Minecraft Dungeons – is also coming to Nintendo Switch.
This "all-new action-adventure game" takes inspiration from "classic dungeon crawlers", and certainly looks like a lot of fun in the trailer; online co-op for four players should be a proper hoot. While the world-building focus of the core game has been scaled back, we can see this being a hit with Minecraft fans regardless.
It was expected to launch this year, but the new trailer confirms that the title has been hit with a delay. Minecraft Dungeons is coming to Switch in Spring next year.

Was hoping some of the games in the Xbox Conference would come to Switch. This was one of them, so I'm glad!
LOL
Minecraft is going to Action RPG.
But i still prefer Dragon Quest Builders 2. 😛
It was one of the games I was expecting to come to switch. Still not a lot on that list at the moment as besides Lego star wars their was not a lot I see coming to switch
ps
Besides indie titles
Wow. Looks really fun
Day one, my kids were super excited watching the trailer. Cant wait!!
@anti-matter minecraft dungeon is a rouge like game. dragon quest builders is different. minecraft dungeon is in the tradition of a diablo game.
the isometric view really fits the art style.
I knew Lego Star Wars was going to come to Switch but I’m glad to hear this is too. Looks like a fun co-op experience and I’m always looking for games that offer more than 2-person multiplayer.
This is a really cool branch out from the original MineCraft. Hopefully there’s a demo when it gets closer to release.
They didn't need to wait for E3 to announce this.
Tales of Arise, Eldin Ring... that is what E3 is for. Switch gets Lego and MineCraft 😕
Physical release please, MS.
I like the RPG elements that they have been adding to the core game, but this doesn't really interest me. I like the Minecraft aesthetic because of the building elements and the fact that everything is destructible and build-able. I don't like when other genres just style themselves on the design just to cash in on the fad. Now MS is doing it itself...
Is the 4 player online co-op with random strangers only? 😛
This game actually surprisingly looks pretty cool to me. And I think the best part about a game like this is that it will help turn younger gamers onto RPGs and get them familiar with the different systems found within.
Minecraft Diablo looked decent. I'll keep my eye on this.
I don’t “get” traditional Minecraft but this might be fun.
Yes! Another fun game for My brother and I to play!
This looks really fun.
