Japanese publisher GameTomo has revealed that Project Nimbus: Complete Edition will receive a worldwide release on Switch on 16th May, bringing new content never-before-seen in the US and Europe along for the ride.
This Switch release is the latest version of the cult mecha game, originally designed and developed by GameCrafterTeam and GameTomo. You'll find the original’s full story and combat present here, but sitting alongside two new modes.
These modes are 'Survival' and 'Warfront'. In Survival, players must fight against endless waves of foes to cement their standing as an Ace mecha pilot; In Warfront, objective-based missions up the ante by requiring the player to survive against infinite odds in a never-ending assault. Here's a handy list of features to give you a little more info:
Project Nimbus Key Features
- High-speed battle action, piloting heavily armored Battle Frames through the war torn skies.
- Twenty-six missions in a variety of locations, including floating cities, ocean fortresses, mountain bases, futuristic prisons, and battles in space.
- Over a dozen playable Battle Frames with weapons including smart missiles, energy blades, particle cannons, floating energy shields, railguns and autonomous psychodrones.
- A sprawling storyline with battles between three different factions over a war-torn futuristic planet: the US-lead CFN, the Russia-led UCN, and the shadowy terrorist Children of Fallen Nations.
- Complex bosses each with a unique fighting style, including orbiting nuclear battle mechs, bands of deadly pilots, and weaponized flying ships.
- Missiles, rail guns and cannons for long range combat...energy blades and blade rushes for melee!
- Bonus Survival Mode lets you choose from an entire hangar of Battle Frames, and then you must battle endless waves of enemies with increasing power.
- WARFRONT mode includes massive replayability with six unlimited mission modes including Base Defense, Interception, and Assassination. Six levels of pilot (including Legendary) and Battle Frame customization will keep you playing for hours more.

Alright, that looks fun. Gonna need some more information, STAT
Dope I might get this depending on the other game modes
Oh yeah, I bought this on PS4 maybe 2 years ago. It was fun but got repetitive from what I remember. I think I stopped playing after a couple hours. I do remember it being a really nice looking game though.
Definitely looks more exciting than Daemon X Machina...but the description sounds like it's arcade-y, perhaps repetitive roguelike fare, which might be a turn-off. But hey, more mech combat is never a bad thing.
Wonder how this'll run in handheld mode. It looks interesting anyhow and could give Daemon X Machina a run for it's money.
No multiplayer?
Hmmm This looks fun but I will hold judgement on the final product.
I'll have to see how it runs first and how it plays, never heard of this game. I'm skipping out on Daemon X Machina since I don't really play mp. I'm just waiting for strike suit zero instead, great game on the Xbox one.
Hmmm... tempted. Eye, firmly placed on this one
well it looks cool
I don't know. It doesn't look like there's much to the gameplay to me. I'm concerned it will get old fast.
If the price is right (around $20 like the Steam version), this will be an instant purchase for me. God, I can't enough mech action, and Switch is lacking it so far.
I like me some bots, so I'll be on the lookout for this. And yeah, it does look better than Daemon X Machina. I was so hyped for that game and the hype died down pretty much immediately after I played the Demon :/
Don't confuse this one with Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut. And then do like me: Get them both.
Solid mech game. Excited to see the new modes, and for it to hit Switch. Will double dip on a sale.
Might get this along with Daemon X Machina, played the demo for that game for about 5-6 hours. Id love if we got Virtual ON, Custom Robo, and Zone of the Enders on the switch.
@Ardisan
Virtual ON is one of my favourite of all time arcade machines and can’t believe it hasn’t already been done considering, detachable joy-co. Could even do a toy-con mock up that you slide those bad boys into.
@Mach_Rider Exactly the same for me, was probably my most anticipated game for the year but the demo just killed that feeling.
Omg the screenshots look amazing AND can I just pause and say I love when mechs are called “Frames.”
Keeping my eyes on this one!!
I dunno. Still pretty siched for Daemon X Machina since it's simpler for me to play. Maybe when it's on sale, I'll pick it up, but I'm also not a mech fan.
Those mechs look insane. Watching for reviews.
It looks really cool.
Does it play more like Xenoblade X or Daemon X Machina?
